  1. Plus, its the 62nd anniversary of D-Day, but thats getting no press
  2. Isn't that the truth! Its definitely a lot easier to get stuff done with this site and the internet in general. I did my last 240z pre-internet, and it was a tough learning curve. Had nothing to go on but a Haynes manual.
  3. Someone in the Z club also recommended getting it turned down. I guess I will wait til I pull the motor to see its condition before deciding.
  4. oh yeah, its mainly a weekend track car, but does get occassional street use.
  5. I've got an F54/P90 with dished pistons now, (carbed with SUs) and the stock 4 speed. I am replacing the pistons with domed euro pistons and the transmission with a 82-83 5 speed. Any suggestions on the clutch and flywheel setup?
  6. I doubt that it would be. Especially with them giving a 1000 bonus rebate to suppliers. We are definitely loving it so far!
  7. Got it and wore it to the GA Z club meeting tonite, people loved it!
  8. Yea they came out earlier this year. A true SS, even if it is in a truck body. And, with a GM supplier discount that brought the price to 300 under invoice plus a $1000 GMS rebate and a $1500 regular rebate, it was an awesome deal!
  9. Now if I could just figure out a way to afford to putting one in my Z! A family of 3 would be nice.
  10. the roof is a low pressure area. It is basic aerodynamics, just like an airplane wing. as the car travels through an airmass, the mass has a farther distance to travel over the top of the car than the bottom, thus creating low pressure, or lift. That is why convertibles with their tops up look like they are inflated at speed.
  11. on my last 240, I put the HI-6 where the windshield washer bottle went.
  12. mine is in my sig. satin black so I can touch it up with spray paint
  13. I know Lexus had a commercial with wine glasses on the hood of their V8 LS400 a while back.
  14. I'm not sure if the measurements are for the backing plate or the pad. If its the plate, then I assume the pad size could change between manufacturers. On my 350z I always had to trim the backing plates with Hawk pads to fit the brembo brakes. Its one of the things I didn't like about them.
  15. A little extra info. Looking at Advance Auto Parts pictures, the 89 and the 92 forerunner both use S12W calipers. According to my EBC Master parts list, the 89 uses FMSI D436, which is 119x64x15mm 92 uses FMSI D502, which is 119x72x15mm The 300zx uses FMSI D647, which is 120x70x14mm SO the 89 has 7616 sq mm of pad surface The 92 pad has 8568 sq mm and the Z pad has 8400 sq mm. The 92 pad has the most surface area and is an extra 1mm thick. Interesting to see that they all interchange though.
  16. oh yeah, the great thing about ucoatit is it is water based, and the first coat is applied extremely thin, almost like whitewash, so it really soaks into the concrete and acts as a primer coat.
  17. I've got www.ucoatit.com on my garage floor. I did the basecoat with flecks and the urethane topcoat. Its a 3.5 car garage and cost about $900 altoghether to do. It holds up pretty well, its been almost 4 years now, but its not as perfect as they say on the website. -The 6" or so that is on the outside of the garage door has had the urethane peel off from rain water - I left some drag slicks laying on the floor and they left a permanent brown circle - I let some oil and brake fluid mixed together under the car sit for a week and it left a light yellow stain (either one seperate don't stain) - brake cleaner bubbled the urethane - lastly, powdercoat powder that settles into a drop of brake fluid will leave a stain. It seems like a lot of problems, but they are all minor and overall I like it.
  18. I think we looked into this a month or so ago, and Hawk doesn't make pads for those calipers, only the S12Ws. (I'm a hawk dealer)
  19. It looks great. Beware though, I used a U-POL premium automotive clearcoat on some plastic covers on my C6 under the hood, and dirt has embedded itself in the clearcoat. Hopefully, your clear will be better.
  20. Hugo Chavez hates us Iran is developing nukes Mexico is agitated with us over the immigration issue Chinas consumption is rising exponentially All of this is driving up the price of oil on speculation. Don't blame the oil companies, blame the traders.
  21. You can trim the airdam. I did to clear my tires also. I didn't add anything to the bottom to deal with airflow or flex, but it holds up fine on the racetrack. this thing isn't going to flex. its the thinner ones, or the urethane ones that flex.
  22. They look like old western or appliance wheels to me
  23. Adam Carolla has a 350z with stillen front end and a couple 510s, one is a BRE replica Lil' Bow Wow bought a 350z for his dog when they came out.
  24. wow, I always thought it did. Oh well, learn something new every day, thats why I read these boards.
  25. flat top vs. dished pistons in the turbo. I've got a non turbo charged L28ET with su's. Its kind of weak over 4500 rpm
