  1. I don't think there is any appreciable difference between coated and uncoated. Its only a few mils thick. Cruez, it does look a little gray, but the customer wanted aluminum color, and thats what I used. Its eastwoods blasted aluminum, and it actually has a bit of metal flake to it that looks great in the light.
  2. aluminum powder with burnt orange accents, clearcoated.
  3. looks great! I know your friend! (from a powdercoat forum)
  4. my first autocross event, I was talking to a guy in a rented miata. He said he rented for every event, it was cheaper than buying new tires and just as fun! I always thought if you had a car that was the same as in a rental fleet, you could rent one every 6 months or so and swap wheels and never have to buy tires, unfortunately, its cheaper to buy tires than to rent a C6.
  5. I loved that game!!! Figured out my own patterns and everything.
  6. Sorry about your damage, that really stinks. A cart attacked my wife's old Blazer at a Publix grocery store here in atlanta. Even though they had signs saying they weren't responsible, their insurance paid for the damages. Its the store's responsiblity (regardless of signage), and they have insurance for it, so never just live with it.
  7. 2.25" is generally the most recommended for NA.
  8. I had been looking for a quality blast cabinet, but instead decided to get this one from Northern Tool instead Its not the best, but I figured with the shop vac hooked to it, it would be ok. Well anyways, I was assembling it, and got down to putting the grill in it, and the grill is a lot bigger than the openings. Its made of that stretched honey-comb mesh material, and all the edges where it was cut are very sharp. I had my head stuck in the side door, trying to manuever it around and had it bent pretty good. Well, it got loose and swung up and sliced my neck pretty good. Fortunately, it didn't go past the top layers of skin, but it bled nicely for a little bit. And since it was my neck, and extremely close to my carotid artery they put me at the head of the line! A cleaning, tetanus shot and 3 stitches later and I got home at 10pm. My wife didn't like it, but I of course finished assembly and had to try it out! The vacuum does a great job on dust, and it works like a champ! Plus, my new eaton compressor actually puts out enough air that it cycles on and off while using it, and doesn't stay constantly on.
  9. I know, this is the first post I opened today and had to check to see if I was on classiczcar instead! Don't knock drifting until you've been to a real event. Here in atlanta, at the formula D, Bubba Drift has always been a crowd favorite. Its a flat black early 80s el camino.
  10. you could put your stock ones back in the box and the monkeys at pep boys will never know the difference.
  11. Wish I had a welder and the know how. I'd love to make mine functional.
  12. how did he fold a fiberglass part??????? That really stinks man. I just bought a used transparent top for my C6 and it arrived broken yesterday. Even packed in the factory box. UPS better come through with their shipping insurance, or its $800 down the drain.
  13. Its in the mid to upper 90s here in atlanta and I have been spending about 12 hours a day in the garage with a 400 degree oven powdercoating. I can't put a window unit in because of association rules, and I need to keep the doors closed to keep powder residue from getting on the cars.
  14. yeah, I know, and your suggestion is a great idea. I might have even done it if I didn't have this one already, but I have decided where tools come into play, for now on, Buy the highest quality I can afford, and if its a little out of the price range, wait and buy it anyway. No more Harbor Freight junk for me or other low quality stuff, as it always costs more in the end. In my powdercoating business, I blow dry a lot of steel parts after phosphating them, and the new compressor can kick in, refill the tank and catch up and shut off in the time it takes to blow dry 3 brake mouting brackets, plus its purple! I'm now in the market for a quality abrasive blasting cabinet, any suggestions?
  15. I don't know, I paid $1100 for my eaton, and it flows 23cfm at 175psi, free air. btw, your links go to pages with garden furniture and generators.
  16. Lookin good! Show us shots after you buff it!
  17. You can use the POR15 stuff if its good to 450. I've powdercoated probably over 150 sets of brake calipers, which have all held up fine, and pc is good to 350.

According to my tivo guide on directv, 9 is a bug vs crx or something, and 930 has no summary.
  19. since the Z and skyline have coexsisted for over 35 years, I see no reason why they would stop now. the real question is 'can the skyline make it in the US'? Its a lot of money for it here. While the younger generation knows what a skyline is, how many people who can afford it really do?
