Well, the car is still going fast. He just smashed the lap record at phoenix raceway by over a second. Last year he was a half second back from the lap record. Something changed on the car and we all know what that was. http://www.nasaaz.com/uncategorized/october-3-4-wraps-up/ Jimbo

The Us use a lot of prop bird in Nam as recon. My uncle flew as an engineer in a B-17 over Europe in WWII and then flew as an engineer in a B-52 in Korea out of Japan, (they were not supposed to launch any missons during the war out of japan, but the flight crews were "never told where they were going" so it was "OK"). He then got called up to fly little piper looking things over the jungle to help spot enemy movements. jimbo

Starter going "click" even with new battery
JIM73240Z replied to rskdsk's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I just went through this yesterday. cleaned all electrical and tested starter. It actualy passed the test, but the tech could not believe it. the gears looked worn and it was smoking. Insert new starter and it wakes up everytime. 29.95 and a 10.00 core at checker. 10 min job max. 2 14 mm bolts to hold the starter and an 12mm on the old starter and a 14mm on the new starter for the wires. jimbo -
I have always been a fan of Graham Green. I was flipping through the channels a few years back and saw him and stayed put. Never missed a show for quite a while. Love the duct tape. Hail to the possom lodge. jimbo

I feel your pain. I've been unemployed since september. I looked into bread routes. You might take a look at it. I could not pass the credit check because of the economy. I went for a ride with a guy for a day and it was cake. The only problem is it is all up to you. You work when you are sick unless you have someone part time it with you. Good luck. jimbo

AZC radiator + AFM = no go??
JIM73240Z replied to 2eighTZ4me's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Yep. that is what i did also. I zip tied a piece of laundry soap bottle right were the afm and the hose touches so that the afm would not chafe a hole in the upper rad hose. My temps are dead center here on the surface of the sun. Even though it is a 2 row radiator, the rows are big enought that the cooling is there. jimbo -
Yep. Back in school. At 36 years old. This economy has punished me for not having that piece of paper. Today I went back to the CC to find out what i need to finish my AA or AS. 1 dam class was all I need. Not that I think that it would get me a job right now. I am changing majors from civil to software engineering. I have been a structural engineer for 7 years but without taking the FE exam, which I am able to do, I am nothing. I just need a change and of pace. Good louck to all in their respective studies. Jimbo

How much miles per gallon does your z give?
JIM73240Z replied to Tofu's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Before I rebuilt my motor I was at 18-19 mpg. I rebuilt it not to long ago and it went up to 21-22 mpg. I will be trying some other things to get better mpg. The engine is stock with a cold air intake, tuned header, mild cam, 2 1/2" exhaust, and stock comp in a 76 2+2. I am heavier than some of you. I will end up with MS to get fuel ratio better. I know that some mpg is right there. jimbo -
There are several members that have over 400 rwhp with the stock fuel lines and rail. Cliftons race car being one of them. They do not look as good as a pallnet but they do the job. jimbo

Roll bar (main hoop) - Tubing Bender from ebay
JIM73240Z replied to proxlamus©'s topic in Fabrication / Welding
oh snap. I wish I had found that when I was building my cage. My car might be done by now if I had one. Good find. A tighter bend would be good though. Jimbo -

Nitrogen in Tires - Just Say No
JIM73240Z replied to johnc's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
No kidding. i got into a pissing match with the sales guy over that issue with my armada. i kept telling him that most of the air in the tire is nitrogen and that is what we breath. He kept coming back and saying that we breath oxygen. Go back to school dude. Yes we need that to breath but it is only a small part of the "air" we breath. most is Nitrogen. waste of skin and money. jimbo -
One of the First Camaro SS to be Totallyt Wrecked..Shocking Pics.
JIM73240Z replied to slownrusty's topic in Non Tech Board
a lot of new cars have black boxes in them. i know the gtr has and i would think that the camaro would as well. if it does, that would answer a lot of those q's. jimbo -
i bought a devilblis set a while back. some pro painters use it when they do not need to break out the expensive guns. it came with 2 hvlp guns with 2 different tips and a detail gun. all for $150.00. works good. jimbo

AZC radiator + AFM = no go??
JIM73240Z replied to 2eighTZ4me's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z

AZC radiator + AFM = no go??
JIM73240Z replied to 2eighTZ4me's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
ah yes. the afm is bolted to the base. this does not work. un bolt it and mover it as far to the fender as you can. this will buy you the room that you need for the top radiator hose. i zip tied a 2"x4' patch of laundry soap bottle to the radiator hose so the body of the afm would not rub a hole in the hose. nice isn't it. it works but it is not pretty. however, my temps are dead center in the temp gauge and they do not move here on the surface of the sun. i want to go ms on mine to get rid of stuff in the bay to clean it up but untill then, the afm is wedged in there. still runs like a champ. dave likes to say that these are racing parts and they require fabrication. not bashing on dave cause he makes great stuff, however........ jimbo -
why won't my intake manifold come off?
JIM73240Z replied to turbojohnny's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
there is 2 or 3 more nuts that hold it on the bottom as well. they share the intake and exhaust manifold. no hammer needed on these. jimbo -
Here are other lap reocrds from willow http://www.willowspringsraceway.com/trackinformation/records.asp he is in some good company time wise. jimbo

it may look funny, but chris is a hell of a driver. at pir here in phoenix, chris wast in the sub 1:05 range with problems. that is faster than cliftons times people. that is down into the gt3 catagory. the car was at 700 whp last may (08) and is now reported to be above 1000 whp. laugh all you want as it blows by big powerfull cars. there has got to be a better way to get the downforce and make it look better. and luck had nothing to do with it. jimbo
