  1. "What could possibly go wrong?"
  2. The timing can stay the same, but you can pick up power by retuning it--especially if you add a cam. I couldn't say whether you need to advance or retard it, I'll leave that for the experts and all their Maths.
  3. '01 Pathfinder It's alright. Horrid gas mileage. Kind of a pain to get a longblock + tranny to fit, but it works. Can't tow for **** though.
  4. Right now they are on the cruise. Tomorrow is the car show, that's what I'll be in, and later that day there is the dragstrip at kennedale. Right now I'm trying to get the Z32 ready for the car show.
  5. Didn't you get the memo? Just kidding. I was coming till I discovered my S30 can't go over 40, and our Z32 had a coolant leak.
  6. Heh, I pay $800 a year now for my own insurance.
  7. Take a look at Driver's Ed. in Europe... say Luxembourg, and then look at their teenage crash statistics. Then come back. Basically, it needs to be more expensive to get your license, more in depth, and they need to show what to do in emergencies. Not just tell you.
  8. Are you going to any of the other events?
  9. If you have a multimeter that can read amps, you can unplug one fuse at a time till the current draw drops. If you don't you can just pull one fuse each night till it stops going dead. Second way is a good way to get a free new battery if it's under warranty. Also, usually you unplug he ground cable when you disconnect the battery. It's "safer."
  10. Where could I get a tb42/45/48de fro thePatrol. Nobody in the US imports them? I asked a few places and the ones that did respond said they couldn't get it.
  11. Yes, I plan on redoing the decals, and keeping the original color if I ever do repaint. I'm starting to regret getting the 16x8s, when I could have gotten the 15x7s in the same color and offset and it would have fit a lot better. However, I didn't have any 15" tires at the time, I had some like new 16s instead, and I thought it was a "good idea". Rolling the fenders seems like it might solve the problem. But I don't believe in rolling fenders, especially not on fenders this nice. It was $2,300.
  12. Well, here it is. I got it off Craigslist for (what I would call) a deal. Came with ghetto carpet botch job, spare parts, 38,000 original miles (AFAICT), Leaky DR brake cylinder, and a really rusty gas tank. As of these pictures, I cleaned the tank which now has left over rust floating in it, and replaced the filter. The pump inlet has gotten clogged 3 times now. Each time takes longer than the previous, so hopefully it's pretty much free of loose rust. Fixed the lights, turn signals, fixed & flushed the brakes and some interior pieces. Bought and installed XXR 513 wheels in 16x8-0. 225/50 tires off of my old Z31. Looks like an SUV, and the DR tire rubs the finder only slightly on bumps. Thinner tires should do the trick, like 215 or 205 if I have to. I think I'll go for 15x7 or smaller next time. I took off the dash cover and the glue took off quite a bit of the dash. There were two cracks that were being covered up. Now there's a mess.
  13. My stock 77 4 speed feels like molasses compare to my Z31t at 12psi. Or even my Pathinder. Then again, it has a fuel starvation issue every now and then, so it's not exactly in tip top shape.
  14. I'm impressed that you can pilot the car during a burnout and hold a camera at the same time. When are you going to get a camera mount for your car?
  15. It sounds like you have no one to blame but yourself. 99.9% of cars are not investments. Even if you took a hot rod and dumped $30k in to it, those are rarely ever sold at profit. So, yeah, it's not the cars fault. It can't take money from your wallet and upgrade itself.
  16. I just picked up some 16x8-0 XXR 513s for my '77. I'm putting some 225/50 tires on all four (since I had them laying around). Oh noessssss I have stock suspension though.
  17. Yeah, Microsoft Forefront. My campus switched to it from Norton. I've never had a Norton product that I liked.
  18. Sounds like air is getting in to your cooling system. Leak down test?
  19. With any of those upgrades, you have to fabricate everything that goes to them. Skip the spacers, they aren't worth the price. I would get a boost controller first, then do the intake and exhaust. That'll give you a giant boost in performance for little money. After that is where the injectors run out of juice and your intake temps start getting high. So, bigger injectors and an intercooler are needed, but then you will run out of turbo right after that.... redz31.net has tons of info, as well as z31.com
  20. Although, I've never actually bought aftermarket wheels before, I've always kind of been a sucker for black wheels. I've decided that the Sportmaxx XXR 513s are decently priced, don't weigh too much, and are a good match for the S30s. But should I get them all black with the red lip (to match the decals on my ZZZAP), or am I delusional and should I stick with the chrome lip? Here are some crude photoshops I did: So, black or chrome?
  21. Depends a bit on the turbo, but generally the timing is retarded to just prevent detonation. It doesn't necessarily reduce power, because the flame front will be moving faster at higher boost pressure anyway.
  22. I'm in DFW. But that's still 3 hours away from Naco-Nowhere, and Lufkin is near there somewhere.
  23. Ha! I put Z31's and S30s in the same category of "easiness", relative to our Z32.
