  1. Because you can!!!! Also even as great as it is. It can always be better.
  2. Hit the userCP link at the top left of the screen in there you'll find an option to be able to change what ever you need to.
  3. I think that sounds like a good deal to me. I'm not real up on the pricing of the Miller products but, I know they are the higher end of the welders.
  4. I agree the 135 will do what ever you need on the Z. But, since you'll proubly enjoy welding and are already spending the money the 175 is not that much more and you'll have rrom to grow. If you can get 220v service in your work area for little to nothing then I would do the 220v. My last house was a rent house and I thought it only had 110v in the garage. Turns out it had 220v and I wish I had spent the extra for the larger welder. In my new house I had 220 plugs installed for the compressor and the welder. I only have a compressor that needs 220v right now but, I'm ready for the future.
  5. I went ahead and bought a cart for my setup. The price was really kinda high but, it sure makes moving things around easier and by the time you buy good wheels and all it's not that bad.
  6. Ofcourse you want to have an idea of what size you need before making the purchase.
  7. I'm ready to pony up for the down payment. What kind of time frame could we be on? I personally am not in a hurry but, would like to jump on this if possible. I would like the FG hood with the layer of CF ontop. So who can get John a perfect hood? Who lives closest? If we did a group buy maybe the rest of us could pay a little bit more to help compensate the guy that gets John an acceptable hood so he could make a mold. Or maybe it would be best just to have one shipped to him. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Lets see if we can get this ball rolling.
  8. Heres the pic that Davy was going for. Thanks for the compliment. It helps if you have the rims in question already purchased as I did. I did lots and lots of measuring to get mine the way I wanted them.
  9. I get my welding gas from Tractor Supply in one of those exchange programs like you do your propane cylinder. Get the co2 and argon mix in one of the larger cylinders. I use the one the in next to the largest and it sems to last me for a good while. Using the gas and the solid wire is really worth the cost it will help you to get everything looking much better. I would also get some scrap metal to practice with. I've run tons of welds just to practice and I still need more practice each time I weld.
  10. Might as well get another spool of wire .030 works well for lots of stuff. Also don't forget the tips. Ofcourse all of this stuff can be had locally and for me part of the fun is going and buying the stuff. That is until your at home and need it and don't want to or can't just go out and get supplies. I'm sure you already know it but, I'm going to list some stuff just incase. Helmet-Autodarkening is worth the money. Gloves Apron is good to have Welding bankets of various sizes. Lots of clamps Antisplatter gel Stainless wire brush I like to use Acetone after mechanical cleanup and just before welding These are the main things that I use that are mostly welding related and not just fabrication related. I'm sure others will have good things to add also.
  11. I almost bought this once but, it said I had to have more ground clearance than what I had at the time. How about a little write up on it with pics? I take it your happy with it all.
  12. I try to ask myself how would I expect this to be done if I were paying someone to get the job done. Then I try to do it better.
  13. I thought it was mandatory to have a a full fabrication shop when you became a member of Hybrid Z. J/K
  14. I saw that yesterday. Looks to me like it has a broken ear on it. Ofcourse anything can be fixed.
  15. Thats cool. Maybe I'll make one out of a 280ZX 2+2 someday.
  16. Got any pics of your hood yet? I want to see how yours has turned out.
  17. Thats a great write-up. I like the format that you used with the text and the pics. So many only have text and it's tough to figure out what people are talking about. I want to add something about the tranny mount. Looks like your solution might be a great temp solution but, I think with the kind of real fun, power, and punishment your going to be putting to thru there I would suggest at the least some grade 8 bolts. But, really a better mount needs to be made. Maybe putting some tubing or pipe of the right size in the ears of the orginal mount would help it to not move around and last longer. If you came up with a good mount you could sell it as an add on to the kit. I only add this because I'm sure you drive your car like I do mine and that thing is going to have some real stress on it. Please, update us as soon as you get the driveshaft in and can give us a driving impression of it all.
  18. This was news to me. Anyone have a good contact that check on the viability of getting these over here? Seems like after shipping and packaging them it would end up being real expensive.
  19. I've never seen one. Thougt, about making one for myself many times but, have never started.
  20. When I had my head cleaned up I took it to the machine shop and the guy just pulled his straight edge out and checked it for me like it was nothing. I can't remember if your having head work done or not but, if not then this might be a good time for a valve job and you could have it all checked at the same time. Seems like I didn't spend alot on mine when it was done.
  21. Take a look at my website and you can see a few more pics of the body kit that they offer.
  22. I think what I like best about the car is that he didn't spend just crazy amounts of money on the car but, it's certainly one of the best out there. Runs good, looks good, and handles good. That makes a perfect street car.
