Heres the link for the one that I had bought for mine. I think the 240's would use the same one. Right? Summit

If your talking about the little J hose that goes from the compressor pipe to the top of the intake manifold ( can't think of what it's called right now) then yes you'll have to have it.

If you want to go with the Griffen then you'll need the one that has Chevy style in and out fittings. I believe the size is 24 or 26 x 19 You'll just have to measure across your current radiator to find the exact mearurement. I actually bought one once but, never installed it because I would have had to have some work done on it to make it fit with my intercooler pies. I eventually sold it but, it would have been sweet. I found the best deal at the time from Summit. There are some better units out there for not much more money so you might do some shopping and reading on the internet before you make your purchase.

I can't wait to see the progress. I anyways look forward to seeing your creations. I also like that you are doing something differnt than the typical set-up. Hopefully next spring I'll be starting a header project and sending it out to have the welding done right and coated. Again it's just a thought but, why not try?

Since we are hypothectically speaking here. I agree totally with you on every point. Anything can be made to work and work well, with enough time and money for development. But,I don't think that the posistioning of a turbo in a performance orented sports car should be in the back rear most spot of the car. Especially when the factory position has proven so well. Why would you put it back there? Anyway, Yes some Nasa developed insulation could proubly keep all the heat in but, you still have no reason to put the turbo in the back of the car. If you reread my post you'll see that I addressed heat and velosity in the first part of the answer. In the case of the LSI engine in a Z the I would think that a mount not unlike the GN's that run so good should be looked at. There is just no reason to put the turbo over 10 feet from the engine in this case. Just my .02

Heres the link for the one from Cartech. Looks like a cast peice with a t-4 flange and a wastegate flange on the bottom. I've never seen or talked to anyone about it so I don't have any details but, if it's a new casting then it could really have some flow potential.

Ok, there are several things that really need to be explined here before a simple answer cab be given. But, to answer the question quickly "no" it can not be placed back there in a real world application such as a performace car. For the Z car theres no real reason to mess with a turbo unless it's for added power and better times at the track where ever that may be. First, off the exhaust gas velocity would be to low and the most of the heat that helps drive the turbo would be gone also. Second, the piping to the intake much less the intercooler would be very long. This would present a ton of lag and pressure drop into the system as well. These are to very simple reasons why it would not work. I'm sure some of the other guys will or can give better exact reasons. I would suggest getting and reading some books on turbocharging such as Maximun Boost. I'm sure you can order it from Book Stop by the Mall it's about 20 bucks. (I used to live in Mesquite) It will answer a ton of questions you proubly have. By the way are you thinking of this?

Thanks for all the advise and support everyone. Len if you woulnd't mind sending me the pattern I'd love to have it. I'll make one out of metal or something and send it back. E-mail me and I'll give you my address. Here's a pic of the intake pipe I made during the summer and yesterday. I had most of the welding done but, I had to wait till the car was in before welding on the last tube. The weld I put on was atlest as crazy looking as the weld I paid to have done. Oh well Live and learn right. I should have bought a welder years ago. This is going to be fun! Thanks again.

Heres two pics of the intercooler. E-mail me directly if interested.

I'm in the middle of some pretty serious physical/emotional

I just want to say that the running this has been the best for me during time in my life where the normal answers just don't add up or are impossible. In no way can I run a marathon or anything like that but, I've played a hundred soccer games and that helps get you in the right condition. Just go outside and start walking if need be and set a small goal. Then do alittle more everyday. You could do time or distance doesn't matter, just do it. get your g/f or a good buddy to go with you. -
Would you ride it if it was turbo'd and no2 powered?

Thats cool. Funny that my wife and I were joking about putting a motor on my son's scooter so I could have something to get to the store on while the car is being finished. I sent her the pic. and let her know that the next project. -
Thanks for the reminder. I'll put the trickle charger on tonight. By the way it was the right alt . It just had a plug that went into the case instead of sticking out of the case. Didn't see that untill I got to the parts counter. Big waste of time.

ok so I'm getting ready to start the car in the next couple of days after the rebuild. I had to replace my alternator with one from a local parts store because mine was doing funny things to the car and the electrical system. My question is that the new one has a different plug on the plug that has the white battery wire and the little blue(don't know what it does)wire. I really don't want to have to take this back and get all pissed off because it's been awhile since I bought it and really don't feel like the hassel. I'm pretty sure the white wire should hook up to the one post the it has but, where does the little blue wire go? Thanks

Greimann is right about the A/C taking the moisture out of the air. If it still works turn it on Recirculate and it will clear the car up in about 20 seconds.
-
No coil-overs on mine. 17x7.5 with 1.5" adapters. If you really planned it out and wanted to push it you could proubly run as wide as 8.5 but, everything would have to be perfect.

I think I'll just make the first one out of regular mild steel then if all goes well and holds up I'll make one out of Stainless. I'm sure after I do it the first time I'll have some other ideas of how it needs to be done. I found a premade flange here and get the other piping from JC Whitney or Summit.

Konig wheels in MSA catalog??

Take a look here and you'll find the info you need about adapters. It's Ross's site and has info and the products you need to fit Honda rims on our cars. -
David, I hate to say it but the ZX air conditioning system "blows" J/J anyway. I've been slowly think about this for several years and noticed that the motor itself actally blows real hard its the piping in the car the is no good . One thing that I did this last summer was to replace all the foam that prevents leaks from cooling or heating the inside of the dash. If you take the glove box and 3 gauges out from the dash you should have reasonable access to the main parts of the ducting system. Get some foam backed tape and some black duct tape and go to town. I found that alot of my air was just going out small leaks where the ducting connected. I did this and it made a huge differnce in the amount of air that I get out of the dash with the air c. on . Really made the Dallas summer bearable. Wish I had taken some pics but, you can moddify the main deflector to provide more air for you. The car has been sitting since summer so the heat is still on hold for me so far. Let me know if it works for you.

Not tring to Hijack a post "again" but, I have one I'd love to sell asap. If any one is intreasted e-mail me.

I would think that you might pickup some low rpm throttle response but, loose some top end HP. In some of the reading that I've done it seems like when someone is going to make a car have big HP then they swap over to a single large TB. If you could find a big one or have one bored out to have enough CFM capacity then it might be an interesting mod. I guess your goals for the car a be the first thing to think about before you start cutting and moding things like an intake. I have no dought that it can be done and made to look good. If you do decied to do it keep in touch I'd love to see the progress on the item.

Well, I've decided that I'll just make my own. Looks like I can buy the materials for about a 100.00 bucks and almost all of the tools I already have. I did buy a welder for 200.00 yesterday. It's just a small mig unit that should be enough to do this and other small piping or sheet metal jobs. Nothing big. Now I'll have a small welder and be able to do the job exactly as I see fit. I can make it with a flange to be able to bolt on a different piece that exits right behind the front tire for a day at the track or what ever I want. Also I've thought up about 10 other things that I can do now since I won't have to rely on anyone else to do what ever I need when ever they want to to do it. What lead me to this was that I went to make an appointment with the place that was going to do the work and thier price had almost doubled from when I first spoke to them about it during the summer. I guess they are on thier Christams pricing list now. Makes me mad!!

I made one out of a piller pod of a Mustang. Just use a heat gun to mold it to your current A-piller pod it's almost the right fit when you get it anyway.. The you can attach it any of a million ways.

Can't wait to start seeing pics of the progress.
