  1. I was in the same position as yourself. My old hatch had a whale tail that was held on by 72 rivits! Took off the whale tail and the damage was just too much to waste time fixing the numerous holes and a little rust. Bought a mint hatch from a '70 with the vertical defrosters for $75. What's wrong with the hatch from the donor '72 that you have? Why not just use that hatch? !M!
  2. Here's one thing I don't understand, why is it that I had to strip down to just my shirt, pants and socks for security reasons when I left Vegas a few months ago (I should mention that I wear rings, watch, neclace, ect. WHAT A PAIN IN THE @SS!!), then they opened up my carry on and fiddled with something in there (didn't find anything missing though) proceed to get on the plane, then landed in Pheonix where I was able to buy a finger nail clippers in one of the stores inside the terminal and bring this on with me for my next flight to Milwaukee? I was told that even finger nail clippers were to be confiscated before you board a plane. I do not understand the reasoning behind taking small objects like Terry's small wrench. Seriously, if there was someone on board that wanted to take controll of the plane, I know that there is a number of objects that are already on the plane that could be used. Why don't I see Airlines making the inside of planes safer instead of pestering the customer about the small items that we like to carry with us? How about this... I know that women in self defense classes are taught to use car keys as a defense weapon in case someone was to jump them. Now how many of you have brought your car keys with you while traveling on an airplane so you could drive your car home when you got back? Seriously, who is calling the shots about these items that aren't allowed on an airplane? !M!
  3. Whoa... you need to get yourself another woman Now, make sure you buckle those wheels in, you don't want them to get hurt if you were in an accident . Make sure you tell those four that a lot of people will be looking at them, taking pictures of them, and possibly drooling on them, then take 'em out for some ice cream . !M!
  4. Yeah, what Aux said. But if you don't have a press or access to one, just cut the sleeve in two spots, then take a standard screw driver and wedge it between the sleeve and the control arm, then give it a couple good smacks with a mallet and it will pop right out. Just make sure you make two cuts in the sleeve otherwise it just kind of curls up and gets wedged in there. !M!
  5. John, You are right. The metal shells come out of all locations except the mustache bar. !M!
  6. Yeah, we have all kinds of cool cars running around here. Also forgot to mention that there is two Venom 600R's and one 650R running around. These cars sound like a souped up vacuum cleaner, very wierd sounding. These are just the cars that I see driving around in the summer. Lots of money in Milwaukee and the sourounding area's. My dream? There is a guy (won't say his name) that has a few Ferrari's, a F-40, 250GT, and some rare Ferrari race car (1 of 6 made, open exaust V-12, no top, REAL small windshield, very small car). He takes his F-40 out and beats the heck out of it. Cruises the strip here often. Can't wait to see him on the street when I have my Z out. Sure I can match him or possibly take him out for a little while, but he'll kill me on the top end. It will just be fun do say that I raced a F-40 Believe it if you will but 3 years ago he took his 250GT (I know for a fact that it is a REAL 250GT) out for a ride and a blonde in a white Dodge Shadow t-boned him just down the street from me when he was getting off the highway (got to see it right after it happened). She had no idea what kind of car she hit he said. There is just too many people with more money than brains (execpt the Ferrari guy) around here. They need to be schooled. !M!
  7. Just wait 'till I start posting stories with my Z. We have all kinds of exotic's around here, Ferrari's, Lotus's, Lambo's, Mallet 'Vette, Lingenfelter TT C5 'Vette's (2 of them now), quite a few muscle cars and street rods also. I'll have some good stories to light the fire under your @ss and get the GN engine swaped in . Just finished up the wiring harness for my swap. Still need a turbo and the trans rebuilt. Shouldn't be much longer... can't wait! !M!
  8. If your paint is still good and the dents don't have a crease, then look to see if there is a Dent Doctors or a company similar to them. They massage the dent out without having to repaint. I've personaly seen the work that these guys do and you can not even tell there was a dent to begin with. My buddy had 12 dents on his GN, the Dent Doctor guy got all of them out except for one on the A-pillar, says a lot being that it's a black car. Compared to body work and a paint job, Dent Doctors is a heck of a lot cheaper. !M!
  9. This is a video of a LOSAT missle http://www.flashvoodoo.com/losatScrub/losat.html This video is not sped (sp?) up. It moves at 5,000 feet per second. The video itself is on the net, but I thought you guys might like this version better. Here is some info on this weapon: The LOSAT Line-Of-Sight Anti-Tank Weapon, developed and manufactured by Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (formerly Lockheed Martin Vought Systems) in Dallas, Texas, consists of the Kinetic Energy Missile (KEM) and an IBAS-based fire control system integrated on an expanded capacity M1114 Heavy High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) often referred to as the Humvee. The Kinetic Energy Missile (KEM) is a hit to kill weapon, which uses the energy of direct impact to defeat armour and other targets. Instead of an explosive warhead, the missile relies on hypervelocity 5,000 feet per second speed to blast a penetrator rod through the heavy multi-plate armour. It reaches maximum range in less than five seconds. The system functions successfully even at high oblique angles of penetration. The system is simple but innovative, in that the missile has no warhead, fuse or onboard sensor and the control mechanism has no moving parts. The system minimises the cost of the expended round. The missile, weighing 80kg, is fitted with four fin stabilisers and has a range of over 4km. The solid rocket motor for the missile has been developed by ATK (Alliant Techsystems) Tactical Systems Company. !M!
  10. http://www.victoriabritish.com has them also. They are made by G Machine. Haven't used them though. !M!
  11. I take it this is your daily driver. If you start smacking that thing tonight, your neighbors are going to love you. How far away are the shoes from the drum surface? Maybe there is a lip on the drum that the shoes are hitting preventing the drum from coming off. !M!
  12. Post some interesting stories Niceguy. Anything is better than a post on plastic cups. !M!
  13. Sound of whip cracking twice !M!
  14. PhaTTy, GN engines work with automatic transmissions, did you know that? There has been a few that have mated a manual transmission up, but the GN engine likes to be loaded up to make good power. There is a GN engine/harness/laptop/ect. for sale for under $3K in the for sale section here or at http://www.turbobuicks.com, can't remember... you seem all over the board as to what you want to do with your car. You need to figure out your goals, then ask more questions. FWIW, my car, suspension upgrades, wheels/tires, GN engine ,transmission 2004R, everything to get it running will run under $8k now. But I got some very good deals. Not bad for a projected mid 11 second car with stock turbo and pretty much stock engine. !M![/url]
  15. Norm, I remember you from when I used to hang out on Zcar.com. I admired your skills. You have a lot of patience! It took you what, a weekend to mill your pistons down with emory cloth? I still like the 12 second time slps for your n/a. !M!
  16. Personaly I just hang up on them. My Dad on the other hand loves to screw with them. He will make up stuff like his wife was just killed in a car accident and how dare they call at a time like this. I think the best one was a lady called asking for my Mom. My Dad said, "I can get her, but she was just backed over by a dump truck and lost both her legs. She is in a wheel chair right now, it's gonna take some time for her to get to the phone, let me go get her." The lady on the phone was so apologetic and hung up right away. I guess she was promoting some fitness place that just opened up. !M!
  17. Hurricane2k1 . spunkysandoval, My questions were not directed at you. They were for the viewers to ponder . !M!
  18. Blackout, Check out this web site: http://www.wes.nissanpower.com/photo.html Shows how to make kick panels. !M!
  19. I would like to add one more thing. What would you rather have, a bunch of kids getting drunk and creating problems and possibly driving drunk or getting high, sitting around the T.V. playing video games and eating chocolate chip cookies? I mean the kids now days are getting so bored, they will do something to pass the time and when the parents aren't around...? Seriously, what did you do when you were young? I'm talking about kids, because older people have more control of their lives than the youth and can make better decisions. !M!
  20. I agree with you on all points. One thing you didn't mention though was the "window drug". Weed is NOT a window drug. I have not wanted to do anything else besides the casual smoking of marijuana and have a few beers now and then. I've seen to many people go nuts on the hard stuff, don't want to end up like that. My buddy also did a research paper on marijuana and came up with the same points as you. There are so many good things to come of this plant, but nobody cares enough to make a change. Peope are affraid to legalize it and be looked down on by the "I think this way so all of you should too" people. I don't get it. !M!

    Fiberglass

I got Simon Mcbeaths book for something like $38, so I would say for a few extra bucks, why not? Doesn't hurt to have to much information. !M!

    Fiberglass

Get "Competition Car Composites" by Simon McBeath. I saw it recomended by one of our members here and I have to say that it is a good investment for someone that doesn't know much about fiberglass. The book is written for the beginer, not the expert, but you might be an expert if you read the book . He writes it in such a way that you are not confused at all, very well written IMO. I had to have it ordered from Barnes and Noble, but was worth the 4 day wait. Here's the chapters in the book: -Materials Fibres, fabrics, resins, laminates, cores -Equipment and basic techniques Tools, workspace, basic wet lay-up moulding trials -Pattern making Materials, design and manufacture -Making moulds Requirements, split lines, lay-up reinforcement -Component manufacture Product design, laminating, stiffeners, woven glass fabrics -Material upgrades Carbon and Aramid (Kevlar) fabrics, epoxy resin, more core materials -Technology upgrades Pressure moulding, elevated temperature, vacuum consolidation -Pre-pregs Properties, mould deign, using pre-pregs honeycomb -The professionals Design, facilities, autoclaves, materials, testing -Motorsport applications From club racer to Formula 1, composites in action !M!
  23. I just got a letter from my bank as to why my debit card didn't work. Here is what was stated in the letter: "...a database of a processor of merchant card transactions was comprimised by a computer hacker. The result was the potential that an unauthorized individual may have access to as many as 8 million card numbers. ...Since your card number was one of those that were comprimised, your debit card account was immediately canceled to protect you from unauthorized transactions." I can't complain. They possibly saved me from losing a lot of cash, even though it put me in a embarrassing position. Everything turned out for the better though. !M!
