  1. They may be easier to come by, but the GN engine loves a higher gear. As a matter of fact John Lindsay's 240GNZ went faster when he went from the (R200) 3.54 gears to the hard to find 3.36 gears. His information can be found on http://www.turbobuicks.com in the hybrid section. It would be nice to have 2.93 gears out back. Right now I'm stuck with a 3.54 geared LSD untill I can find the 3.36 gears. 231Z, Tell us a little about your GN project! !M!
  2. Oops So, ah... what's a "moran"? Just goofing around For those that are from a different country, you do have a little more room for error. !M!
  3. At least we don't have people that type the way they do on 2 way pagers and text messaging like what is seen on other message boards. You know, people using single letters for a full word... I really hate that! How do these people write papers and what not? The world is going mental . Everyone is in a hurry to type fast, but why? I type the way I talk, well for the most part I do. I think that everyone should at least try to do the same. If you don't know how to spell something, then look it up . I have 2 Webster's dictionary's that I use at least 2 -3 times a week. For some reason, if I can't find a word in one dictionary, it will be in the other. It's pretty messed up, because they are both relatively new. All I say is, try to type the way you were taught back in grade school. Give it your best shot. There has been more than a dozen posts from newbies in the past that I simply passed up, because I couldn't stand reading the question. !M!
  4. Just a quick FYI, Ross C. is working on a very strong stub axle. He updated us here not to long ago. !M!
  5. Your pictures are not showing up, so I went to your web site and looked at the pictures of your Z. I really like the whale tail pushed up right underneath the rear window. I think it looks pretty damn cool I saw a red Z a few years ago, similar to yours, with the same rear wing, but it didn't have such a flare upwards at the sides of it. I wanted the same thing, but MSA's whale tails were both too large. Must be a wing that is just sold over there. Your web site only let me view a photo of the back of your Z, when I clicked on the other photos, I just got the Angelfire logo. Would it be possible for you to send me a few photos of your Z via e-mail, preferably side views? !M!
  6. Well, it's about time . Where did you purchase that side bearing puller? I really could have used one of those, instead of paying the money for new bearings. My press did a number on the old, but still good bearings that I wanted to re-use. Here's a tip for others (looks like you did this too Mike): If you are replacing the old carrier bearings with new ones, simply use a dremel tool and cut the cage off of one of the old bearings, leaving just the inside part (race?) of the bearing. This works perfect to push the new bearings into place, instead of finding the correct size socket or scap metal to use. !M!
  7. Tony, the SEARCH function is your best friend. Click here !M!
  8. Nice 8) . There is something satisfying about beating the crap out of your car... it's like therapy. You come home feeling good... ah unless something breaks. !M!
  9. I saw the build up of that car on some show on the Speed Channel. I remember the guy said it was built just for drifting. He wanted to make it lightweight, so he went with the SR engine (interior is gutted also). He said the engine could have went back even further in the engine bay, but that would have put too much weight on the rear end. He also said the swap wasn't very hard at all. !M!
  10. Damn, looks good John! You're going all out on that sucker 8) What camera did you get? Mine took a crap I can't post any pictures with updates to the GNZ. !M!
  11. I have so many words for your Z, but one will do... Exotic !M!
  12. Just a FYI, but Centerline will not sell a 17" wheel that is wider than 8" with the stock 4 lug setup. If you wanted to go 9"+ wide with the 17" wheel, then you would need to switch to 5 lug. !M!
  13. Ah, your just jealous that you don't live in a state that has a crap load of beer guzzling, brat eating, cheese consuming fat chicks. Well, to be honest with you, Brookfield probably has all the hot chicks (and I mean HOT!) in Wisconsin, BUT since everyone around here has a crap load of money, they are all stuck up. !M!
  14. John, We have a couple around here. 110 octance is had in Muskego and also right off of HWY 100. Stuffs getting expensinve though, last I hear it was around $3.40 a gallon (from what I can remember). PM me for details. Chris, Where in Joliet do you live? I go down there to visit a buddy of mine and his wife quite often. !M!
  15. Just like a car guy, right on the kitchen counter! !M!
  16. Could you be more specific? Did your axles come off the companion flange or something? Have you driven the Z after you performed the R200/CV upgrade? !M!
  17. Well, I thought it was pretty damn funny untill my sister told me she's most likely a fan of Dave Mathews. And here I thought that a blonde just wanted people to know, so we can get out of her way. I wanted to wave and say thanks for the warning. !M!
  18. Len, That was your Z? I thought it looked familiar. I remember a picture of it parked next to a curb with the hood open. Don't remember all the primer though. !M!
  19. Woo Hoo! It's about time . I had to do a double take at those pictures. I thought it would never happen. You know Terry, now you can't do any more modifications to the body . !M!
  20. Cool! How much would you guess the 6" copper disc weighed? A pound or two? !M!
  21. I was going to say the same thing about dropping a valve. My sisters '91 CRX had an exaust valve snap and fall into the cylinder creating almost exactly what your #6 cylinder shows. Her piston was cracked, exaust valve was gone, intake valve was cracked with pieces missing, and those valve chunks smashed the heck out of the spark plug. All these pieces from that one cylinder traveled from the #1 cylinder to #2, #3, and #4 cylinders, with less destruction the further away from #1 you got. I didn't know that debris could travel through an engine like that. The whole engine was toast and I had to replace it for her. She dosen't have good luck with cars. She recently bought a '94 Camry and 2 weeks later, #1 cylinder was toast. A simple test showed that the compression rings on the piston were shot. Opened up the engine a few days ago and found out the cylinder wall is gouged. Now I have to replace the engine in her Camry too . So much for getting work done on the Z Anyways, the point I was trying to make is look closely at the head that you want to reuse. Use some parts cleaner and get that carbon off of there to see what the rest of the head looks like. There may not be damage to just your #6. Also, debris can get caught between the valve and the valve seat, so check that also. If this were my engine, it would be a smart move to just get a junkyard head to throw on there, instead of the smashed up one you have now. !M!
  22. I was wondering the same thing. !M!
  23. Mike, you're laying it pretty hard on Tim lately about the e-brake, aren't ya? Soooooo, NOW you want a V-8 powered Z? Oh, for crying out loud... is this going to require yet another Z? !M!
  24. Here's what to do when they come to your door. Take off all your clothes and grab a pump action shotgun. Next, open the door all the way and stand right in the doorway, then pump the shotgun and smile. Should make them think your nuts and not bother with you. !M!
  25. Wasn't that the one where a 350Z owner made the video and posted it on a 350Z web site? !M!
