  1. There seems to be a bit of confusion here! POR 15 Prep and Ready is phosphoric acid. POR 15 Marine Clean is industrial de-greaser. They are two completely different products.
  2. Exterior door skins for 240z/260z/280z are all the same, so searching for 240z door skins would probably come up with more results
  3. It's a pain, but the only way to completely get it all (other than media blasting) is to soak it in phosphoric acid, wire wheel the hell out of it, and repeat as many times as required
  4. update - 18Racing are getting the RKR 4x114.3 17x8.5 -10 next week, you can already order a set if you contact them. [EDIT] also, VisionR in Australia do 17x9 -10, not sure if they ship international though and how much it would cost,
  5. By the way, POR 15 metal prep is just phosphoric acid with blue dye and a higher price tag
  6. If you're regularly going to be launching with that much torque then maybe 5 lug is the way to go?
  7. I'd use phosporic acid to kill off any rust left in the pitted areas, then either paint or POR 15 it.
  8. holy hell, they didn't even weld them together!
  9. Why spend $180 on a pair of those? Just get yourself some clear lenses, translucent orange plastic and get creative!
  10. Thing is though, if he doesn't know what it's called then how can he search for it?
  11. Well it would seem logical to go back over all the things your friend messed with if it was working ok before
  12. My 260z only had factory primer on the inside, no colour
  13. Over here in the UK we didn't get the evap tank. With reference to the picture posted above, the following can be plugged (if you want it set up like a UK system): 6 and 14. If I remember right, there is a T-section fitting in hose 3 that hose 5 connects up to, and the end of hose 3 points down and exits through the chassis right next to where the fuel filler pipe exits the inside of the car.
  14. Big-ass pipe wrench works for me. Have you checked the nut at the top of the strut to make sure it's torqued all the way? Also, I know it sounds dumb, but are you sure it's not just the strut hitting the limit of the steering column lock?
  15. Never seen that Wheeler Dealers show, will have to look out for it next time it's on. I had to have a rear valance made, but it turns out the '74 260z has different bumper mounting points to the 240z so ended up modifying to make it work (so much for the easy option). The rear quarter sections that have the bumper recesses? I could have done with those a couple of months ago! Ended up making some up out of lower rear corner repair panels as that's all I could find. I have a replacement rocker from Tabco, really good quality compared to the thin repair panels we usually get on this side of the pond. I'm so sick of welding... still have the floors and frame rails to do. Oh did I mention it's snowing its ass off? Couldn't feel my legs by the time I got back into the house today!
  16. Thanks for the photos, I'm going through the same process right now though my car was waaaay worse than that :*( Everything below the dimpled holes in the inner rocker was completely gone! By the way, where did you get the inner wheel arches from? I was looking for some before but couldn't find any, so I've ended up going with wide wheels and flares. Would like to have kept a more factory look but oh well, maybe on the next one.
  17. If anyone is interested, 18Racing have sent me a message and confirmed they will be getting the RKRs in 17x8.5 -10 4x114.3.
  18. Weird, I also contacted them yesterday and they told me, "for 17x8.5 no news yet, we place order for +4 and -15 but not sure if -15 could be order or not, since manufacture has not give us any news yet." I hope they actually get something decent in stock or otherwise I'm stuck with an unusable set of 2 wheels.
  19. Thanks Mastermind, looks like I might need spacers on the front then. Dan_Austin I have no links, but I emailed 18Racing about available sizes. They sold me 17x9.5 -20 4x114.3's for the rear already and said the 8.5 -10's will be available either this or next month.
  20. I'm waiting on the 17x8.5 -10 4x114.3 to become available; just wondering how thick your adapters are so I can get an idea of how far my fronts will stick out
  21. How bad is your 280z if you are considering getting this instead
  22. That's a good point, did you section the struts for shorter shocks? If not, then adjustable coilovers are pretty much a waste of time.
  23. Did you make sure the suspension was settled after changing the position of the spring seat? ie. roll the car backwards and forwards a few feet
