I hear you Sean, I will not drive mine even if there is a slight chance of rain. I will be there to help Mike as well and if he does not need help then I will just be drinking beer and looking at the cars.

I hear you, I wanted to take it to the TX2K event this month but that's not going to happen. I will be at the event supporting my friends but my car won't be there. One bit of good news is I finally was able to take it to the Fab shop in order for them to get this thing to the point I can drop the motor in. I decided to have them make me another fuel tank but out of stainless this time so that's going to take a little longer. The aluminum tank just not looked like it belonged with the rest of the car. I just heard from Centech wiring and they are shipping me my fuse panel and wiring harness today so we will see how it looks when I get it next week.

S30/LS/turbo/Powerglide/Tex101/9"SRA build diary

Looks like a solid car to start with and not at bad price either.. -
Thanks, please post pictures of your rubber shifter boot when you are done with it. I need to do that as well and any ideas would be great. I was thinking of modifying the stock one but I'm not to that point yet.

Thank you sir. I installed my Kenwood back up camera that will work in conjunction with my display screen on the receiver.

Thanks Tim, you paved the way for a lot of us to do these builds.

LOL, I try not to call them after drinking Stock car Mafia or they would not deal with me at all since I may loose my cool after all the delays. Thanks for the offer jpndave. You are right it's 3/16" tubing using the metric fittings. The thing is I bought a roll of 25 feet of tubing, so it needs to be straighten, and cut to fit before it gets flared. I want to run it side by side with the nitrous and fuel tubing and have some aluminum brackets made to hold the lines together. If this keeps delaying I may talk to Powerfab about doing everything and sending the lines to you to have them flared. I will PM you about pricing if they agree to do that. Thanks again for the offer and the compliment about the car.

Whiskey, whiskey and more whiskey is how I deal with it....LOL To be honest all this waiting on others to get this car done is very frustrating. In April it will be 4 years since I started this project and I don't see me being done by then. I have mechanical skills but no fab skills that's why some things I will not attempt. I could do it I'm sure but it is not going to be to the caliber I expect for this car.

I know right, I'm still waiting to take the car to the fab shop to have my brake, fuel and nitrous tubing installed. These guys are really busy and just can't seem to get me in there, I call them every week so they don't forget that I'm waiting on them. I have called around to others like Powerfab, 3D performance etc.. and they don't want to do it. The problem is the double flare on the stainless tubing for the brake lines. As soon as I mention that they all say the same thing. NO because doing double flare on stainless is a PITA. I can't install the motor until I get that done so now I'm at a standstill. Hopefully I can get the car to the fab shop in the next 2 weeks but I have been saying that for over 2 months now. In the mean time I have been doing little things like running a tap down every threaded hole to get the primer and paint out of there. I was surprised how long that takes. I also went through the blower motor assembly and refurbished it. I may install my door panels this weekend but really for the most part I'm done for now.

Man I hated doing that, very time consuming. If I had to do it again I would pay someone to do it. Like the guys that hang out in front of Home Depot looking for work.

My C6 Z06 had nice manifolds from the factory, in fact I sold them to LS3 guys but no comparison to the change in the power band after I installed the LG Motorsports long tubes. I went with the 1 3/4 instead of the 1 7/8 and my car ran great on the street and would outrun the guys with the same mods except they used the 1 7/8 headers. I know they are a pain to install and not cheap but in my opinion well worth the money. Horsepower wise I agree with you there are not major gains but the power band changes completely from stock so in turn you have more usable horsepower. Like some guys here say LS engines love long tubes.

Nice interior, good job man. -
Yes sir, I don't want the original wiring causing me any problems later. Too much work in this car to watch it burn to the ground.

Looking good man -
Man I wish you were right. It has been a waiting game now with the Fab shop that will be doing my brake lines, fuel lines and nitrous lines in stainless. They don't have room to leave my car inside and I just won't have my car sitting out in the weather. I have been waiting for over 2 months already but it looks like I may be able to get it in there mid Jan. I rather wait for these guys since they are very good at what they do and very reasonable when it comes to pricing. Some of the Fab shops around here think they are working on the space shuttle when they quote you a price. In the mean time I have started working on the wiring. I sent the factory wiring schematics to Centech wiring and they are going to make me a custom wiring harness with fuse panel. I just love their fuse panel and quality. Hope to have that back in the next week or so this way I can wire the car and start putting together the interior while I wait on the fab shop to make room for my car. I want to get the motor installed so bad it's not even funny.

Man, those are some clean floor boards. Nice platform to get started with, not the usual rust bucket these cars are. -

Man, that's a lot of work but it looks really good. Nice job. -
Keith, What testimonials are you referring to? I hate to be the bearer of bad news but putting boost to a stock bottom end will drastically shorten the life of the engine. I have seen it time and time again, people think they can just throw turbos on a low mileage motor and a few months later if that they are tearing the bottom end apart. Another thing is running turbos is not a easy as it sounds there is a huge learning curve to do it right especially on an S30 where a engineered turbo kit does not exist. A lot of tuning and tinkering with it also involved and not having the experience to do so could mean a blown motor. I'm sure car manufacturers do not spend the extra money to use forged internals on boosted engines for nothing, just take a close look at the ZR1 and Mustang Cobra. Bottom line there is no such thing a cheap horsepower, for major horsepower gains there is usually a major expense associated with it. Like they say spend $1 to do it right the first time of spend $10 to redo it once you have broken all kinds of components.

That's a clean looking install, congrats. -
Got the Nitrous purge done. Two Nitrous purge kits with blue LEDs where installed in the cowling. I was not able to take the car to the fab shop to have my brake, fuel and nitrous tubing installed and I had to go out of town on business so I will have to wait until I get back. Another set back but at least I'm making some progress.

Texas Turbo Tom 240 to LS2/T56/Magnacharger build
alainburon replied to texis30O's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Damm dude, that sucks. Are you going to stay with the supercharger or are you going to join the turbo fad. It seems like everyone and their sister has a turbo S30 now. If I was you I would just build a nice motor for it now and be done with it. As you found out already running boost on a stock motor is not a good idea. -
Just FYI, a lot of people get stuck on cross flow radiators and cross flow does not cool any better than a down flow. This is straight from a radiator's manufacturer's website. Is a cross flow radiator better than a down flow? Not necessarily. The important factor is the amount of heat dissipation surface the core has. The coolant flow direction is not important. I'm going with something similar to this one except a down flow. so the tanks will be on the top and bottom like the original S30 radiator. Wizard can engineer it to any HP set up you are running. For a small fee of course.

LOL, I guess there is a little bling on this car. Just finished the hand brake cable on the Arizona Z parking brake. What a PITA this was. Purchased a Lokar universal stainless braided parking brake cable kit and had to modify to fit. Also had to have some brackets made that will hold the cable at the caliper and if that was not enough I had to source some springs to return the brake cable back to its original position once released since the Lokar set up its not strong enough. Finally everything works as it should. Time for some Whiskey....
