  1. Let me know about the pavs. I was going to try to check out Daves (AZC) new ride on saturday and maybe mosey on over to andys place to check out the new project. But the Pavs would be an awesome way to end the evening.
  2. Looks awesome Brian. I can't wait till I get to see it again and you can do another wicked burnout.
  3. Hey Brian, I have seen a lot of converter problems with those transmissions, but this doesn't seem like that is the only problem just yet. I would believe something is gunking up the valve body. For a (hopefully) quick solution I would drain it out put a heavy duty cleaner and put some miles on it with the cleaner. Do it al all RPMs in order to clean out the TC too. Then refill it with the Nissan fluid. That may help. If you want to pop the pan off to look at the valve body. I work on saturday if you want to bring the truck to the dealership. Give me a call.
  4. Was this car on Ebay not to long ago? I really like it just ditch the bumpers.
  5. Word right out of our GSM's mouth is that we will have 7 cars and are asking for another due to the fact that we recently moved and are volume is way up.
  6. Not True. The Nissan dealership is very high volume and we were only alloted 7 cars. All are sold for a lot higher than MSRP. ABC Nissan in Phoenix is one of the highest volume shops in the country so they got 13 (I think). I was told by their used car manager that all 13 are sold with 100% of the price down. There are tons of extremely wealthy people around here that love to show off and are eager to buy the car. And the ones that weren't able to snag one of the first few and willing to pay more for a slightly used one. Look at the Evo. In the first few months it was introduced every dealership only got a couple and they sold immediately for a lot (for a mitsu anyways). Soon afterwards Mitsu capitalized on it and sold millions. I really doubt Nissan will let the GTR litter the streets like the Evos do. Bottom line there will always be a demand for most any "supercar". Nissan is spending way to much money on the GTR to just sell a couple. Of course there are all new training courses and proedures just for this car. We are having to install a new alignment rack just because the GTR is to low to drive the 3" ramp onto ours. So obviously I love the car and think it will be a huge success for Nissan. This is just my opinion just as everyone elses on here. I just sure am glad that I was not the unlucky master tech chosen to do all the GTR warranty work.
  7. Hope this is not a repost. Once again Nissan underestimates itself http://www.motortrend.com/av/roadtests/112_0803_2009_nissan_GT-R_dyno_run/
  8. Great write up. I have been working for Nissan for almost 5 years now and have definately seen ups and downs. I dont know how many people that I have met with a 350z that has the SES light on and wont bring it in because of an intake and exhaust. I don't care, most of the time I (the tech) will be the only one who knows this. And I do love getting treats. Once a guy brought about 25lbs of Egg Rolls from his restaurant for the whole dealership. Needless to say he is pretty much set on whatever he needs. One thing that sort of bugs me is cvustomers who hound me while I am trying to work. I know you are concerned about your car and want only the best but do not just stroll into the shop and start looking through my tool cart and stand there arms crossed seeking for a mistake. First off you are most likely not allowed into the shop and second that is rude. It is kinda nerve wracking to be looked down upon like that. I love it when someone carries a conversation with me while I work on their car but not when they scowl waiting for a slip up. I am fine speaking to you about your car in the lounge and I can escort you into the shop (with saftey glasses) and show you everything on your car. I will sit there and explain how something works or show you how to set the memory. I do not mind that at all. Also if you have wheel locks for the car toss them in the cup holder or somewhere obvious. I dont want to waste time searching through your car looking for it just as much as you dont want me to be going through everything. That is just my opinion.
  9. I pretty much spent all afternoon reading it. AWESOME!!! I really hope that if some a$$bag takes my car you guys find him.
  10. You will not gain any engine bay room by removing the flip-ups.
  11. The belt and tensioner issue is the same with ass rubber belt Nissans and most imports in general. They don't jump or break if yopu change them when you are supposed to. We all know the reason they go bad is age, heat, or oil. If you are in Phoenix, belts need to be changed on the money. And if you have leaky front seal or cam seals it will fubar the belt also. It is definately not an RB26 issue its a "rubber belt" issue. Essentially its the exact same problem with the 25 aas the 26. It needs to be addressed on both motors. Remember when you get an RB2X it may have low mileage but its still old. Rubber "ages" in time not miles. Others might have different experiences but this is what I have found in my experience.
  12. Holy crap there is room in that garage Seriously I can't wait to see it and definitely can't wait to see it run Firebird west.
  13. Not sure about factory, but I was told by Nissan Motorsports to run it around 45-46 static pressure.
  14. It takes WAY less than 700hp and 550ftlbs to smoke corvetts. A built L can do that. Our RB20 beats Vettes. Not the new z06 however
  15. Yup Geoff Directed us to Cometic when we went to his shop. I wish I could tell you how it holds up but its still in pieces
  16. Do it in order of priotity. 1st- Crank collar 2nd- Oil pump 3rd- head drain mod or restrictor Unless you are going all out on this a stock Nissan pump will work wonderfully. Its just depending on how far you are goiong to take it. But if nothing else do the crank collar.
  17. Brians RB20 is long gone now
  18. Well I've finally dug into this unnamed project. Most of you know I got this 11/72 240Z for a steal from a guy who had no idea what he had. When I first saw the car it was busted up, would barely run , and in tons of pieces. I towed it to a nearby relatives house the next day. I threw brake pads on the front and charged the battery. A little gas and it fired up. NONE of the electrical worked not even the brake lights. It ran off battery power only because the Alt was not working. I then drove it 40 miles to the dealership where I work. The car as I got it: L28 flat top block E31 L24 head Triple Mikuni 44's 4 Speed Aftermarket rear sway bar Horrible wiring Not a lot of rust surprisingly And the rest was old and stock. When I brought it to the dealership (its current home) Videos of the first day after juspstarting it A couple in the shop Starting the teardown Motor out man I wish it was this easy on all Nissans WOOPS notice anything I love this machine This is the rust (besides the doglegs) The plans now are: ENGINE this Larger valves Good cam Port Turbo head bolts Race oil pan Rotating assy. balance Block refresh (rings, bearings) LD28 main bolts Aluminum radiator All on the E31 head and my low mileage 83 zx flat top block BODY + SUSPENSION Rust repair Color change Lots of POR15 Full EZ2WIRE kit Hopefully all AZC suspension CV shafts and LSD Toyota front brakes and ZX rears When finished it will have between 10.8 and 11.6:1 cr and 4 sticky tires to run wheel to wheel hopefully in "pro-auto" This is the beginning of a long haul project but I love it
  19. Exactly what Raff said. Level out the two top bolts and raise them a hair. The sides look correct. They are going to look Incredible. I love how this shot shows how massive those brakes are. Are they AZC?
  20. Man I love that car!!! We need way more vidoes now.
  21. Great numbers especially on the first time out. I can't wait to see more details/pictures/videos.
