  1. She arrived as a complete 280Z on a dolly behind my truck. She will leave in the back of same truck. The previous owner stated that "it ran when I parked it, just needs a little work!" Don't they all? No matter, this was to be a parts car; engine and tranny sold before getting it home. The R200, mustache bar, tranny cross member bracket, suspension, and numerous body patch panels will live on in my project. The roof went to another member for his sunroof delete project. I only hope the rusty remains can be recycled into something useful. There are still lots of stuff I see advertised for extravagant prices on eBay, but it ain't worth it to me! chris
  2. Yeah, I usually look at the dates. Don't suppose this swap was just a little too much? chris
  3. Have you posted this on Ratsun? Lot of dime swaps over there. chris
  4. You might try Tabco or cut your patch panels from a junkyard carcass. chris
  5. For brackets, checkout this guy: http://www.alangrovecomponents.com/Catalog.htm Nice guy on the phone and easy to deal with. chris
  6. Yeah, it's called mental masturbation! I am guilty of thinking and over thinking most every detail. Guess my design expertise is better suited to production tooling instead of reinventing the wheel. chris
  7. Great info guys! Could another consideration for front calipers to pair with the 240SX rears be the Willwood Superlight Billet? These are available with (4) 1-3/4" or (4) 1-3/8" pistons and can be adapted to the Z strut fairly easily. The 1-3/8" version is about 35mm which is smaller than the Toyota caliper. My thoughts are the 1-3/8 Superlight with a 12.2" dia. vented rotor that is .810 or so thick. The downside to this combo is you have to machine a hat and caliper bracket and it is not a junkyard setup. Could this work on a street Z? chris
  8. Think it's gonna take more than 2 liters to spool that baby! chris
  9. It was 1 tuff z. I pm'ed him about part of that z. He returns from vacation today 9th. chris
  10. I'm building a WC T5 with the reinforcement parts from http://www.thegearbox.org/T5.html Not planning a drag car though it could occasionally see the strip. Dunno about rear end, 3.54? open R200 or whatever came in a 77 280Z. I do plan to add a limited slip down the road. Already spent too much money......... Yes, Skirkland1980, I plan to have the block decked, 10ish or so compression, I did get the 64cc chamber. chris
  11. My goal is a quick and easy to drive street 350 for my 260Z. Still need a good kick in the butt when mash the accelerator. I got everything ready for the machine shop. The short block is a 350 2 bolt main out of a 250hp auto Vette. My plan is to keep the rotating assembly stock with a hone for the bores and a polish of the crank. I have ARP rod bolts and main studs for reassembly. The valve train is all Comp with a Magnum Hyd. roller grind .500 lift with 270 deg duration and a Comp roller timing set. I have a pair of Brodix IK 180 heads with Comp roller rockers. I plan to mod a set of Sanderson 1-5/8 dia. long tube headers to fit the Z. Undecided on intake but thinking of a dual plane with a Holley of about 750 CFM and a vaccuum secondary. Your thoughts on this? anybody build something similar? TIA chris
  12. Hi Mike, I noticed in one of the pictures in this thread, you used a dual snorkel air cleaner similar to this: http://www.fortesparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=194 Why did you abandon it? I'm looking for something to get cold air to a street driven V8Z. I was previously looking at the single inlet carb hats same as you were using, but after your dyno results, don't think so. I only have a warmed over 350, not a fully race prepped 383. tia chris
  13. The RBR's I got are16 x 8 with a +4 offset. +10 is also available. I intend to run these without flares. I will be using coilovers. Sorry, no pix, my Z is still on the rotisserie. chris
  14. Her U go! http://www.tabcobodyparts.com/html/table_of_contents.htm I have both rocker panels, both panels that attach to the rocker in front of the real wheel opening, and both front fender lower repair panels. chris
  15. I just purchased these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROTA-RB-R-WHEELS-16X8-4X114-3-04-RHYPBLK-CELICA-240Z-RX7-280ZX-AE86-/300926392604?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Wheels&vxp=mtr&hash=item46109c591c These guys are easy to deal with and super quick shipping. I am normally cautious of eBay sellers, but this transaction went well. chris
  16. http://community.ratsun.net/ chris
  17. Tried Ratsun? chris
  18. Thanks, Tony, I was going to bring that up......... chris
  19. Recommend anyone contemplating a V8 swap purchase this book first! http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Datsun_Z_V-8.html How-to's for everything is here including drawings of the mounts. Oh, Welcome to Hybrid Z chris Edit in the interest of accuracy, I did not realize this inquiry was for an S130. The mounts in the JTR book are for an S30.
  20. Yeah, with some sort of pain/pleasure involved...... That's a real trophy you got there! I'm with LanceVance, mount it! chris
  21. Got one off an early 260. Motor mounts shaved, no rust or damage. $100 shipped or $65 and you pickup in Asheboro NC. chris
  22. I have the HTR Z2's on my Z32. Strictly a street machine, the tires stick good for any maneuver one should attempt on the street. On/off ramps are especially fun but, holey hell are they loud! Sometimes I feel like I'm in a 4wd with mud tires on the pavement. These are the loudest high performance street tires I've owned. chris
  23. Don't forget the fart can exhaust and a 3-tier wing for the back! Honestly, I've had good luck with Honda/Acura products. My current daily driver is an 01 Accord 2-door. I've also built a couple of Honda hot rods. Enjoy your new ride. chris
  24. I finally finished welding in the new drivers' side rocker panel. The passengers' side went slick as snot but, discovery of old crash damage on the drivers' side almost caused me to scrap my early 260 project. After a lot of massaging I finally got it to fit. Wish I had known when I was replacing the floors!!! chris
  25. Hi gorge, pretty sweet ride! There used to be an Asian guy on here that built some really nice Z31's. Perhaps someone will chime in with his name and you can search his posts. Welcome to Hybrid Z! chris
