I think Mark did a tilting front end for his car. This thread is well worth reading thru and shows everything about his tour de force Z project; http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/79649-progress-on-my-insane-vq35hr-240z-project/ chris

To Undercoat or Not to Undercoat....that is the question
NCchris replied to ThatOneZ's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Hi socorob, which Lizard Skin did you use and why? My shell is upside down on a rotisserie after floor and rocker replacement. Now is the time to do it. I'm thinking a coat of epoxy primer and then Lizard Skin. Anything else? chris -
That's pretty sweet, Phil! Showed this video to one of the Honda guys here at work and I think he wet his pants! chris

Ran off the road. Any advice for my next step?

What Jon said and, if your alignment is too screwy, you could chew up one or a pair of tires pretty quick. chris -

NCchris replied to ttsbc280z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I just purchased a pair from Chequered Flag Racing. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/115100-chequered-flag-racing-modern-motorsports-parts/ Joe is a great guy to deal with. I would recommend him highly. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/103581-billet-z31-cvcompanion-flange-adaptors/ chris -

Front Control Arm Design
NCchris replied to Mike Mileski's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
A simple design I came up with. The existing strut rods can be shortened and threaded 5/8 UNF (fine thread). The adjuster tubes are thinwall chromoly with LH/RH ends already welded. These are available from Speedway Motors in 1 inch increments. A 5/8" L/H rod end with a 1/2" hole will attach to the machined aluminum adapters that will attach in the stock location. Suggestions? chris -
Didn't this question just come up? Last week? Including all the answers? We need to do a better job searching! chris

Steering rack; new or refurbish?
NCchris replied to Atozone Tonine's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I personally would not spend that kind of money. You can disassemble your rack and if it isn't worn bad, clean out all the gunk and replace with fresh grease. Adjust per the Service Manual and add new boots, little paint and you are good to go! chris -
300zx twin turbo blown engine what to do.
NCchris replied to wickiewicked240z's topic in Non Tech Board
I would rebuild, used engines are a crapshoot. Several years ago when I bought my Z32, I wanted the twin turbo. All the TT ones I looked at were ragged out needing work. I finally settled on a nice 93 NA. It has been mechanically perfect except for the normal wiring connector and fuel injector problems. chris -
See http://www.300zxclub.com/showthread.php?t=218945 Scroll down, I inquired about location of tranny and modding of the firewall. chris

Well, now it isn't totaled! Insurance lady just called and said they had decided to repair! I am so happy, no salvage title. I don't know what happened, guess the value of my car was higher than the adjuster thought.

Making a right turn into my work last Saturday and this guy in a truck clips me as I was almost off the blacktop! Says he never saw me. Well I believe him, he never hit the brakes until after the collision! Doesn't take much to total an old car. 1993 Z32 Slicktop, NA. No dents, bangs, or defects in the paint, body or interior, prior to collision. I didn't even drive it everyday! RIP! chris

Tell me why I should or shouldnt go look at this ...
NCchris replied to heavy85's topic in Non Tech Board
$20,000? I'll bet some of the guys on here got that much in their street Z. I always thought the S30 2+2 looked nice with a shaved rear end. chris -
DIY header collectors from www.coneeng.com
NCchris replied to JMortensen's topic in Fabrication / Welding
Thanks for posting, Jon! Exactly what I have been looking for! I am planning to mod my Sanderson street rod headers to gain clearance and to better fit a 2-1/2" exhaust. I knew from initial mock-up the collectors needed to go but I didn't have a solution for replacement. Burns has nice stuff but damn, 2 of their merge collectors just about doubles the cost of my headers. chris -
I didn't realize that the Ford was a 4-cam motor, my bad. Perhaps this could be done, I also would like to see it. It's this kind of stuff that Hybrid Z is all about. If I were to attempt a swap in my Z32, it would be to twin turbo. Wrenching on the Z32 is not my favorite, my hands are too big! chris

Great looking job egzlilguitarboy9! This reminds me why I am modding a set of street rod headers for my ride! I don't have the skills to do this. Nice work. Looks like they tuck under the rails pretty good too. How low are they compared with the bottom of the rails? My street rod headers are going to hang low, looks like 2 to 2-1/2 below the rails for mine. chris

Hi Victor, I also recently purchased the GC kit for the 280. I was sent 12" springs as well. I have sectioned my tubes but hadn't welded the ring on yet, so I just welded it 2" lower. I was sent instructions for 10" springs. Dunno what's up! I'm using Tokico Ilumina shocks but I bought them before the current shortage. You might want to have a look at the Frequently Asked Questions at the top of the page. The suspension sticky has everything you need to know about your car's suspension. Good luck and enjoy the ride. chris

Welcome Guys, do a search for posts by member "Braap", he was planning a ls into his Z32. After much trial fitting and research he eventually abandoned the project because of the major surgery needed to the firewall and floors. All this info is still here. Also search for Z32 & V8 swaps. Lots of info here. chris EDIT, next post down.

Listen to Leon! My dd is an 01 Accord Coupe (177k on the clock) that my wife bought new in 01. She wanted a new Accord in 2011 so I got this one. Absolutely dependable and 30 mpg. I've had several Honda's including a 94 Integra GSR with the world famous vtec. It ran great, and I had to punish it to get less than 30 mpg. It had over 250k when I sold it. Also dependable! I had added several bolt-ons including a header, hi flo cat, exhaust, cold air intake, and chipped ecu. chris
