  1. Wow, that is something else. I wonder what other companies will do in response - more power, lower MSRP. Besides the status, why buy a 911T when the GT-R is an option?
  2. You might want to phone them up and see if there is a reason why it couldn't work with a Muncie, or any other SBC transmission. And if you have the ability to, make your own Depends on how much they want, they have already done all the work on it. EDIT What sort of custom parts would you possibly need for a manual? Flywheel and associated bits?
  3. Would you be able to use that TH400 adapter plate with, say, a Muncie 4 speed?
  4. You could take the components that still work, CPU, HDD, etc, and get a new case / PSU, motherboard, and be done with it.
  5. In a previous house, a tree root grew into the line to the septic tank. Got the tank pumped, was due, but still didn't drain. Hmmm, out came the service guy with his snake. And an extension. Hope there isn't too much rot in your house, I've heard some horror stories about dry rot.
  6. Now that is what I call self sufficient! But not a fun way to spend a Saturday
  7. For this entire thread, I was thinking that the WRX engines were transverse. Than last night I realized that they are longitudinal. http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4487 Not sure how much of that is dedicated to the AWD system, but the 5sp definately looks fairly narrow, but long. http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/7338_1.JPG http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/0943_10mg.jpg Just looking at the transmission internals, it looks like the bottom right is the output for the FWD, and the bottom left is the RWD bit. All on the same shaft. Besides snaping or de-splining the output shaft, what link links might there be with a RWD converted transmission? Yes, it has the extra bulk of the AWD component, but it doesn't appear to add too much. If the RX7 transmission takes alot of custom parts to work, a RWD conversion might be a good way to go.

  10. Change the fluids more often and you'll got alot more out of it! I'm almost at 245,000 miles, ~390,000 km with a '85 Prelude. On the 2nd motor and transmission! Original owner didn't really do maintenance. Engine died at 100k miles, transmission at 150. But I hardly drive in an urban environment at all, almost entirely highway. Again, congrats!!
  11. Considering that OP is looking to put this in a Z, I'm guessing that the RX7 Turbo II transmission job is probably the way to go. Just need more info, but I'm tired of reading
  12. Mention it, and I vaguely remember reading a letter to some import magazine asking how to convert a Subie, pre turbo series, to RWD. Mention of a RX7 transmission was in there. Man, I just can't find anything with google. Anyone have any luck?
  13. Man, that is crazy. The last video was posted on March 29th. Take a look!
  14. I googled for some sort of RWD transmission, no luck. That definately seems to be the problem. Anyone?
  15. Would it be possible to run ITB's on a VQ35 with a aftermarket ECU?
  16. Nope, the 2.3L has a bore spacing of 4.173", and the Windsors / Clevelands have 4.380". http://users.erols.com/srweiss/tablersn.htm#Ford
  17. Looks like a good deal too. Even more so if the harness and sensors are intact, coils etc.
  18. So what exactly causes wheel hop? Maybe dissimiliar axle dynamics would keep it from happening . . . ?
  19. Was hoping that the engine was the same, just detuned as in the ZR1, but alas, it has the Eaton R1900 s/c and the supervette has the R2300. Wonder how long it will take for say, Lingenfelter, to offer a R2300 replacement. Heck, those guys got 630bhp / 570lb/ft on the Z06, just by doing their magic for like 10.5K. Wonder what they'll be able to do with these supercharged motors
  20. That would be awesome to see one in a Z! The things can had be for very cheap too! Once you get it running nicely, can we expect to see a force fed version?
  21. Found a Motor Trend article with a comparison of the G37 and 335i, both autos. This quite is regarding oil coolers. "BMW installed them only on manual Sport models until March, when automatics with the Sport package started getting them. There is no recall or factory-sponsored retrofit, but enthusiast owners should consider installing an oil cooler." Is the oil cooler only installed on the Sport Package cars still? I can't imagine what might happen under the hood of one of those cars in brutal 115+ summer heat.
  22. Any word on how the oil in the chipped 335i's has fared? Mike's link to the oil forum has some interesting discussion on the condition of the oil in the stock 335i setup. Chip the engine, generate some more heat . . . wonder how often oil might have to be changed to keep things all good.
  23. We've got to hope that the Hyundai coupe's cost keeps low, especially the sports version with the LSD. A little market pressure to help out on the pricing of the Camaro, from what they are saying the DOHC V6 will be quite the car. Also might make future Zs more price competitive, with a larger difference in size and cost between the Z and G.
  24. Considering how many 3 series BMW sells in the US, it would make sense to make the 1 and 3 series here. The weakness of the dollar would make them more competitive to say, the G37's, and would help out with the cost to export markets too. Probably won't happen, as that would take to many jobs from the Fatherland though. Would be nice if the 135i/335i didn't start at 35k/40k . . . On a side note, Automobile Magazine did a comparison of the 335xi and the STI and EVO X. Considering that it makes do with brake actuated stability control and open diffs, the 3 did really well. Make a 335xi CSL, with real diffs, and things could get interesting
