  1. Seriously?? In store, I didn't see it in the ad this sunday! I have a Mosin Nagant and a Mauser, and that was a great comparo. Just need an AK, AR, SKS, Lee Enfield, Swiss-straight pull, . . . . then the collection will be getting off to a good start.
  2. "260z rear end -acts like posi-traction" How so??? Really odd how Buick made some of the more powerful musclecars, Gran Sport / GS / GSX, then the Gran National, and now has . . . FWD V8 Lucernes. eh? What the heck GM? Great memories in my grandpa's 3.8 ~'86 Century Custom, great car, wonderful engine. Incredible build quality, even when he traded it in for a '02 - I thought the old one was better 1st time I drove it. Still do. Buick, make another Gran National!!! Put it on the Alpha platform, give it a 6 with a hefty dose of boost!!
  3. Given the limitations of a pushrod engine with high RPMs, how about the modular 4.6 Ford motor? Yes, it is a larger engine with the OHC's, but would it not be able to rev up a lot higher? How about destroking a motor? Would that help with the vibrations? Torque would be lost, but how is the correlation between the two? The 4.6 is 90.2x90, and the F360 had 85x79.
  4. I can't wait to see a VQ35 running stock ECM in a S30!!!!
  5. Sorry for not keeping up with this thread of mine, full time school and work makes life interesting . . . I'm going to Shasta College, and I looked up the classes that are articulated to Cal Poly - not many at all. I presume the courses are alot more specialized, as CSU Sac has a number of courses that I can transfere down. Not that I've taken that many, just the basic and usual stuff. Thanks all for the input!! Talked with several current and former ME's, and it is such a wide open field that I shouldn't have to worry about employment with a Mechanical Engineering degree.
  6. Wow, that looks very clean! What all fit stock with the motor? Looks like the alternator fit in well enough. Looks like headers, did you try and see how the stock manifolds fit?
  7. I had a friend who did something like that, went to U of Michigan as a music major iirc, then transferred to the school of science and engineering. Last I heard, he graduated with BS in Chem. Any idea how it would work transferring from a community college? I've ___HEARD___ that with say, 50 credits and a 3.0 you can just transfere to a UC school.
  8. What all goes into the price for a rebuild? What parts?
  9. Is Cal Poly more of a 'theoretical' school like the UC's, or more of the practicle type like the CSU's? Talked with some friends of the family who graduated from CSU Sac a few years back. They have very good jobs with tech firms, no problem finding employment. Plus, I'm more of an applications type personality, theoretical can get me discouraged. Thanks all round for the imput! ME it is !
  10. Looks like those intercoolers are plumbed for liquid cooling. I wonder if they created a thermal boundary layer to keep those turbos from cooking everything else. Give it a few years, and all the wiring will otherise be toast. Think Z32TT, but worse.
  11. Who's jumping on the ECU? Good programmable one, NisTune, among others.
  12. Yup. Saving for a Z car[or something non-boring, perhaps E30], few months I'll have a bit over 2k. Didn't earn much, so the economic stimulous won't be much over $300 though.
  13. The one that I am looking at is, and they said that you can take the certification test. Not sure which one exactly, didn't know which one to ask.
  14. Hmm, how much better is Berkley over Sac? I was told that the UC's are generally for masters program canidates and CSUs for 'normal' bachelor types.
  15. Ah, good reason why the dept didn't say much about that . . . pretty hard to sell I guess.
  16. I'm trying to figure out which major to go with at Sacramento State. After phoning the departement all I was really able to get was that MET grads usually work in power plants, thermals to be specific. Right now I am working on the basic credits at a community college to far from any CSU to commute to, so I will have to move. Is there perhaps a better engineering school than Sac State in the CSU system? Talking with grads, they have had nothing but good things to say of it. Anyone have any insight on the differences in the two majors, ME and MET, and perhaps even another school to choose from?
  17. Wonder what size the turbos are and what the dyno put down. Very slick looking though!
  18. Actually, those are super-secret AWD test mules
  19. I can't wait to see what the tuning companies will be able to do with that car. Stock it is incredible, imagine a GT-R with uprated turbos . . . .
  20. What material are you considering? Fiberglass, urethane, sheetmetal? What school are you majoring in ME at? Haven't had to make the decision on ME or ME Tech.
  21. If the body is in good condition, might it be worth more just to sell whole?
  22. Great sound!! I've found that helping people out on their cars is a great way to get rides and access to tools
  23. If all the smog equipment from a 280ZX is pulled out, a full exhaust put in - high flow cat to keep legal -, how much of a performance gain is there? Might be moving to a smog free state, so I'm now looking post-75.
