That`s where the "But Honey, these engines normally sell for AT LEAST a $1000" comes in. Then you`ve got 900 left to work with. Alls fair in love and hot rodding.

How much boost would twin t4`s build on a 350? I have a 3.5" cowl hood already. would that be tall enough? The block I have is a GM performance ZZ3 block, It came from GM with 4 bolt mains and a nitrided steel crank. Any ideas on power potential or how much it could handle? Obviously I would need better rods/pistons and have it balanced, but the block is std, with no measurable wear, so cyl wall thickness shouldn`t be a problem. I`ve also got a line on a pair of dart pro1`s with 200cc runners. I believe they have 76cc chambers. Any thoughts or experiences with deck thickness on those?

I`m considering a sbc twin turbo with efi for one of my Z`s. 1)Would it be better to run aluminum or cast iron heads? or would it depend on How much boost I run? 2)What would be a good efi system to use? 3)approximately how much boost would be needed to achieve 750 rwhp? 4)What size turbo`s would I need for this setup? 5)How much compression without boost should I run? ScottyGNZ`s reply to the "who has the fastest Z" question has got me thinking, that even under relatively low boost, a ttsbc should really put out some serious power

Tell her someone gave it to you, and that an engine like that usually cost AT LEAST $1000 or more. Now the next grand you spend is basically FREE money. I know the figures are a LITTLE exagerated, but if she thinks you are way ahead, she might give you a little more rope. If it`s a good running 350, 100 beans is still a pretty sweet deal.

Note to self; DON`T down shift to second while traveling at 100 mph. What was he thinking? He said that this was his second Viper. I`d be willing to bet that he wrecked his first, and the reason he was taking the course was to learn how to handle the car. maybe he should have special ordered it with an automatic.

My 77 had similiar problem after sitting for more than four years. I installed new front struts and it cleared up.

You can get an air operated flange tool for less than 50.00 from Harbor Freight, or look on ebay.(I think the ones on ebay cost more though) I picked one up at a swap meet for 35.00. It`s alot less wok than the vice grip style.

KEEP it, and put on sum DUBS.

I`m all for doing mods to make your car LOOK cool, but just because they might look good on ONE car, DOESN`T mean they look good on ALL cars. I think they`ve fallen into the more is better trap. THEY LOOK LIKE CRAP IMHO.

You could threaten to write a letter to the editor of your local paper or make a complaint to the better business beureu(sp?). Most dealers will back down when faced with the prospect of bad publicity. (Especially when they are in the wrong)

Guys, as long as it`s 78 or earlier, would it be feasable to change the entire front suspension, crossmember and all? He said earlier that he had the whole thing.

After reviewing the vid, I can see that his brake lights were on, so apparently he found the right pedal. The only other possibility is, He`s too damn dumb to know what that round looking thingy in front of him is for. -
Fuel economy usually does drop in colder weather. One way to offset this is to install a hotter thermostat. A fouled O2 sensor WILL cause the ecm to get a false lean reading, and in turn it will richen the air fuel mixture. Before running the engine after replacing the O2 sensor, I would recomend checking and possibly changing your plugs and wires. Fouled plugs and faulty wires will cause the exhaust gas to be rich and could foul your new sensors. The cost of replacing these prematurely could swallow up any fuel savings in a big hurry. Also the leaky exhaust gasket could be artificially leaning the reading that the O2 sensor recieves.

I have been working with/on/under or around cars for more than twenty years. I was proffesionally trained, but other than installing cell phones in cars (back when hand held phones were the size of a shoe box and cost $1000) I have never formally worked in an auto related shop. That said, I HAVE been a proffesional "GARAGE GURU" for years. I have worked on all years and types of cars doing everything imaginable. During the summer months I work on the farm and on farm equipement, and during the off time I PLAY (at least that`s what my wife thinks)in my garage.

I for one am glad to see someone try to put a dent in the business of these crooks trying to scam people. Most often the people being scammed are the ones who can afford it the least. Otherwise they wouldn`t be looking for "CHEAP" substitutes.

WHAT THE!!! The Mr.two didn`t look like it was out of shape at all. The only thing I can figure is, the guy was not used to the whole manual trans, clutch on the left, brake in the middle concept. I think he got on it, paniced, and stomped the clutch to the floor thinking it was the brake. No matter what the reason, the guy is still a dumb a$$ -
I`m sure there is a way to utilize the 4.3 Vortec FI, ECM, and harness if you would rather have EFI. I`m sure it would be no worse than adapting any other EFI harness and system. I just assumed that if cost were the issue, it may be more affordable to go with a carb.
-
I think the v8 would be too long for that car. I`m pretty sure you would have clearance problems with the slope of the hood. Why not go with a gm 4.3 with a 5spd. They have the same transmission bolt pattern as the sbc but are about 4.5 in shorter. If you look hard enough i believe some of the later Vortec 4.3`s had aluminum heads and can still be retrofitted with a carb. many aftermarket companies are making all sorts of goodies for them. I`m considering a vortec 4.3 200R4 swap into my wifes 79 MGB.

Thanks for the input guys. I`ll do some more looking and keep you posted on my progress. Happy New Year

I was hoping to build a custom panel with at least 3 and possibly 4 horizontal rows of leds. 2 rows red as park and brake 1 row amber as signals and hazards 1 row clear as backup lights Where can you get strips of led`s? All I`ve seen are complete sealed units.
-
I`ve been considering some sort of led tail light system for some time. Today I stopped at a truck garage to see what they had and what kind of prices. The pre assembled lights that they have, range from 35.00 to 200.00 each (NOT per pair) That`s quite a bit more than I was expecting. I still like the idea, so I`m going to keep looking for other options. Hopefully I will find some better prices.

You would think a reputable company such as Holly would monitor the quality of there regulators a little more closely. That is a potentially serious problem if you are running nitrous, turbo or a supercharger.
-
I`m not knockin what you did. I`m sure that there are plenty of people out there that really do need some temporary help, But I personally would rather not perpetuate the problem by randomly handing out cash. Someday I too may run into someone that looks sincere and be compelled to do the same as you did. My .02

While in NYC last summer, a friend and I were discussing this same subject. When he fist moved to the city he would give at least a quarter to anyone who asked for money. He soon realized that if he kept it up he would be the one asking for money. He then told me the story of a guy that he had met at an art show opening. This guy was a professional panhandler. every morning he would get up, NOT take a shower, and put on the same clothes that he wore every day. He would then ride the train into the city and sit all afternoon with a cardboard sign and a Mcdonalds cup. The guy told him that he used to own his own business, but closed the doors just BEFORE he would have had to file for bankruptcy. At the time he could not find work, so to keep from losing his house he started panhandling. he said that if he had known there was SO much money in it, he would have skipped college, NOT started his own business, and went straight to panhandling right out of high school. "Where else can you make so much TAX FREE money and have SO little stress" I will NEVER give money to a panhandler ever again. This guy lives in a newer house than mine and drives a nicer car than mine, and the biggest decision he has to make is, What corner should I sit on today?

That`s a good way to get him used to the feel of a Z seat.
