  1. Generally, turbo manifold fabrication involves thicker material due to the higher heat it's going to experience. As for what materials, what do you have the capability to weld? The procedure varies from type to type.
  2. Any chance it could be a loud rocker? I've got a clicking noise coming from my valvetrain that's pretty annoying, even though I adjusted all my valves when I changed the headgasket...
  3. "Chewie, Activate the hyperdrive!" "rawrrrrr!" "Chewie! I said activate the Hyperdrive!" What a great scene that was, when Chewie was supposed to do something, and Han Solo was all, hurry up, and chewbacca was like: "rawwwrrrrr!" man that was dope...
  4. while you're at it, why not get the upgraded mercedes injectors? I don't think they cost much more than the stock ones, but it's been awhile since I priced them. You can search for the exact application to ask for, I think it's a late 70's 400sel? but don't quote me on that...
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5w5BrbbpBFM&search=charlie%20murphy I thought it was pretty funny. Let me know what you think of this one.
  6. Why didn't you post pics of the camo 914 when we were discussing camo paint designs on the S30 drawings thread? I would have liked to see that...
  7. This one is my favorite. I guess they get pretty hungry over there, seeing as how they chew up their fender lips for food...All that negative camber in the back must make for some great reverse donuts (oni camber, saudi style I guess)
  8. What's happening Hybridz? It's about time for new tires on the camo-zzzap!, and I've decided to do some searching to see if there is a better tire size than the one I'm using now. These wheels are 17X7 in the front, and I'm currently running a 205/50-17 tire. These look a little tall in comparison to the rears, so I'm thinking of going with a 215/45-17. In the back, the wheels are 17X8, and I've got a 255/50-17 which I'm happy with as far as the look is concerned. I got these tires free when a friend's dad put new tires on his porsche, and now that it's time to pay for some, I was curious if anybody had any input as far as what sizes are working for them on similar wheel widths, and if anyone had a particular tire line they were fond of. Keep in mind this is Florida, so I need an all season tread.
  9. It's Max Sterling, he was the micronian super ace that married the zentraedi pilot. He was always my favorite, maybe because my first name is Max too...I never did the RPG route, but I heard it was a pretty good one to get into...
  10. I just googled "390 Blower" and got these links: intake manifold: http://www.ford-trucks.com/lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blowerdriveservice.com drive kit: http://www.ford-trucks.com/lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blowerdriveservice.com cam choices: http://www.ford-trucks.com/lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blowerdriveservice.com blower choices: http://www.ford-trucks.com/lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blowerdriveservice.com intercooler that goes between manifold and blower: http://www.ford-trucks.com/lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blowerdriveservice.com
  11. So when do I get my commemorative cup? Or does Moby get it? Maybe we can get joint custody and mail it back and forth every other weekend...
  12. I'm going with collapsed muffler internals creating too much backpressure. However, if something else was changed with the induction (timing, fuel settings) while the manifold was off, it might be causing the backfire as well. I assume since you've got a 240z you are using carbs, so have you checked the settings since you put the manifolds back together? I find that when problems come up after a specific job was performed, it's best to look at things that could be related to what you did first, and then go from there. Anybody else have any ideas? -edit- I just reread your post, and it seems that you found the problem after all. Was there a squirrel in the tailpipe or something?
  13. Looks like at least that one door has been repainted, but everything looks really clean and straight from those pictures. I like those 280zx wheels too, but my favorites are the early Z31 gold mesh wheels (from the factory choices that is). Nice find!
  14. I got that idea from watching one of those bike build-off shows on discovery. Exile choppers does that to all their chrome by hand to make it look satin finish, that way it matches the flat black they always use.
  15. Why don't you use like a scotch brite pad to take the shine off the aluminum and make it a dull finish? or get a cookie wheel on a drill and do the swirl finish all over the whole thing? Then you could get some candy paint and put a tint on it, that would look pretty cool depending on what color you chose. My vote is for wrinkle finish. You could always get some camo netting so it will match your roll-on camo paint... that whole back and forth about the shag reminds me of when I first got my car and had just stripped out the interior. A friend of mine had a z that he talked about but nobody had ever seen before. He asked what I was going to do for carpet, and I said I was going to get astroturf to put down. He got quiet, and was like: "you know i've got that in my car, right?" I said:"BS!" He brought in pictures, and I eventually saw it with my own eyes. Sure enough, my man had blue indoor/outdoor carpet for his interior....I was just trying to pick the craziest material I could think of, and evidently it was what he had thought of too...
  16. You could be the first to do not just a 2-tone roll on paint job, you could be the first to roll on camo too...I think for my next trick I'll try to bring back the bass boat metal flake paint job (by convincing someone else to do it, of course).
  17. Funny story about those bugattis: My dad's boss bought himself one, and his wife thought it looked pretty cool. So he went out and bought her one too. She sat in it once, said:"I don't like it." and never drove it again. This is the same guy that crashed his ferrari enzo (one of 3) showing off going up an on ramp, and then tried to haggle with the insurance company to buy it back for parts. Some people have more money than sense, and I often wonder why I can't be one of them...
  18. Hiding behind APC stickers and euro tail lights would be a pretty good sleeper, but I couldn't be caught in something that atrocious even if it was super fast. I could do pink or lavender before I did the fart can and combat spoiler...
  19. You've got to uphold the honor of the old unit dude!
  20. Consider my point made...just embrace it...
  21. You've got so much camo envy it's rediculous...you should just come out of the camo closet and wear your colors loud and proud like me and chewievette.
  22. http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/porsche/1140734381/1140734381ss.htm Clearly says 944 in the title... I admit it's clever, but anything designed to be seen in a rear view mirror is just a different way of spelling "slower than you," don't you think? You don't think you could at least talk him into adding the roof scoop? Every good daily driver needs a roof scoop...and furthermore, I still think your car would look better with camo flames...
