  1. It's clear you guys can't see the vision... Also not the best drawing in the world, but the idea is sound. If THAT doesn't make you want a wagon, I give up.
  2. How are the Nissan CVT's? GM's are total and complete CRAP. The ones on the Saturn Ion and VUE are junk, and are pretty much going to fail at least once before the warranty is up. We do them all the time in the shop at the Saturn dealership I work at. Acura TSX's had bad reputations in the shop when I was working at the Acura dealership, but I'm not aware of any specific issues. The technicians would always make comments about "what a hunk of junk" they were whenever they would come in for service. They sure look nice though. Also when I was at acura, we were doing something like 7-11 transmissions a week warranty (that was across the model line-up, not just tsx's). I wouldn't want to get stuck with a bad tranny once the warranty was up... On a positive note, I've got an 02 Altima that I've had since new, and put 90k on, that is very spacious inside, has been relatively trouble free (even considering it is the first model year of this body style), and has fantastic cup holders. The new SE-R altima has the same VQ35de as everything else nissan makes these days, as well as a beefed up suspension. Something to think about. If I were shopping for cars again, I'd be looking at a WRX wagon, but that's just me.
  3. I'll check the included parts list on my 280 bushing kit when I get to work, and maybe we can compare notes about what is included. My kit (and car) are at my job for the duration of my install, so I don't have it handy right now.
  4. Where do I submit my application? Can Doc Hunt be in charge of hiring the secretaries?
  5. That's not uncommon, I work in a dealership parts department, and have dealt with many different dealers over the years that won't even talk to you without a vin number. Mini dealers are one of them. I couldn't even get a price on center caps for wheels (they just happen to fit my momo quasars, go figure) without a vin.
  6. I think the commentary from his buddies was my favorite part. Not when the guy is talking to the camera, but just what they are saying in the background...I do love how a nice 5.0 mustang sounds at full throttle though. Thumbs up to this guy for at least trying to turn and not just do the drag racing thing.
  7. Terry, are there any RX-7's? Of any generation? I'd really like a 2nd gen or a first gen, but a third gen would do just as well.
  8. I have that same toolbox...go figure.
  9. New progress: Front right LCA is done, steering rack mounts are done, and steering coupler is done. All that's left are the dreaded rear LCAs...I would never have guessed that the steering rack would have been that much trouble. I easily spent 2 hours trying to change those stupid bushings with the engine still in, and maybe another hour at least doing the coupler. The problem with that was that the stupid bolts barely had enough clearance to fit in, most of my time was spent trying to put them back together. I'll probably get to the rear LCA's around next tuesday.
  10. I found a BRE 610 for sale on some website, it comes up when you google image search it. It used to be on www.race-cars.com but now it's on some other one. I had a hard time finding a front 3/4 picture to use as a reference for that drawing, and I only had a pen handy, so it's not my best work but the idea is there. I'm convinced that the wagon, much like the whale tail, will rise again. I guess most people around here just aren't ready for either, but I won't hold it against you guys.
  11. The bodykit in those toolshed threads was fugly anyway, but it would be cool if it would be possible to have something worth having made for that kind of price tag...
  12. Mine would look something like this: Not perfect, but you get the idea. The front camber is supposed to be like that, it's the classic "Oni Camber" from the early days of drifting.
  13. Allow me to re-introduce myself, my name is Hove...
  14. 610...wagon! Super Sports Wagon is what you need, big time! With a turbo II 13b rotary in it!
  15. Imagine that silver 610 with a nice FJ20et or maybe an SR20det, bumper mount oil cooler, top mount intercooler...Some of these wheels here (old style Advan SA3) and some zg style bolt on flares in carbon fiber... Now THAT would be a fun car.
  16. That's where it would shine, no doubt about that.
  17. When you did the harness, did you do the resistor packs as well? That's why I hate the bosch fuel injection they used on these cars: no trouble code diagnostics at all makes it difficult to tell at a glance what the problem is. If you have connectors hot on both sides, there has to be a short somewhere there. I just took the injector harness out of my main wiring harness, and the injectors get their power from the resistor packs. If you have a short, it's most like going to be somewhere after that. the ground wires all run straight to the ecu from the injectors. I'm using a 78 harness (different than a 77) for my megasquirt install because I replaced all the injector connectors on it before I realized it's different than the 77 I was attempting to get the factory crap to work on.
  18. Kinda looks like this thing I found on ebay but can't afford: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-Laurel-SGX-1976-JDM-Nissan-Laurel-SGX-RHD-Classic-JDM-Skyline_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6392QQihZ012QQitemZ220024980279QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Add says it's a Laurel.
  19. I don't think there are too many aftermarket kits because the factory ones are so plentiful, and seem to be fine to most people's street (notice I said street) car power goals. All the cool stuff like the Trust twin turbo manifold was designed for RHD cars, so it doesn't fit too well on US models. seems like www.rhdjapan.com had some turbo stuff at one point.
  20. Nothing wrong with adapters, I might worry about spacers though. I've got 1.5" adapters with 17" wheels on my z, and I'm not having any problems. As long as they are mounted correctly, it should be fine.
  21. How about putting it sideways, between the engine and the radiator? do you have room for something like that to work?
  22. On the contrary, no matter what business you think you are in, as a manager, you are in the business of running a business, if you catch my drift. If you intend to own your own company, it would behoove you to know the specifics of how to run a successful operation-which are pretty similar regardless of actual product or service delivered. Going to a tech school will probably teach you a lot about how to work for somebody else, I would think. Nothing wrong with that, but if you want to excel at what you are doing, it would certainly be worth your time to learn the skills you would need to be a successful business person in addition to being a knowledgeable technician. Just my $.02, hope it was helpful.
  23. YOU'VE been spoiled? I got a Garrett T-04 from a buddy with hardly any shaft play at all for $50! Barely looks like it's been used at all, truth be told...Also got an intercooler from his brother for $40...
  24. I've heard having technosquare re-calibrate your throttle by wire curve helps a LOT from a few people, and this guy from www.freshalloy.com had it done to his car and talks about it here: http://www.freshalloy.com/site/cars/nissan/2004/z/projectcar/technosquare/default.asp
  25. Speeder, I love your car by the way. That video was super cool! But I'm not super hyped up yet...Speeder is right, Florida doesn't like car builds, I'm convinced. 90+ heat, 90+ humidity, rain every day (no garage, otherwise I wouldn't car)...I'll keep plugging away, but it's taking SO long to get anything done...
