  1. According to Maximum Boost, a thin coat of anodizing has neutral to positive results, but I've never seen data to back that up in the way of numbers or anything.
  2. OTM's away at school for awhile, so it may be some time before we get to hear what this stuff really is...
  3. zcarcrazy, your problem sounds like either a short, or a faulty ecu. Do ALL of your injectors have 12 volts to both terminals? If so, That makes me think it may be the ecu. That should make the injectors stick open all the time, right? Mr. Insane, have you got yours done yet? I know this is an old thread, just curious. That's what my car was doing when I got it, it had 12v to the injectors, 45psi to the rail, but no start. I put some round top su's on it, and am just now in the process of doing a fuel only megasquirt to get back to fuel injection...
  4. Well, they were free, so I figured what the heck. I personally like the MSA type III side skirts, but I prefer my side skirts to not be molded into the body. I like the line, it looks more like a production piece to me that way instead of a one off custom job. Nothing wrong with that, but just not my taste. Anyway, good luck with the search!
  5. ANY side skirts? Here's my car with Acura RSX type-S factory side skirts, shortened to fit my 280z. I think they look ok.
  6. It might, as long as it was a laser drive shaft . The weapons from transformers just had a certain look about them, since they were all energy guns. I wasn't coming down on it, especially now that I know it was per request. I haven't figured out how to color in photoshop at all yet...I did a photoshop of my car with some old advan rally wheels I'm watching on ebay, and it looks really fake, but at least I was able to convince my wife they would look good on the car...
  7. Terry that looks AWESOME! Absolutely first rate coloring and overall design work. My only gripe is that the weapons aren't very transformer-y if you know what I mean? It's hard to find fault, and that's a minor nit-pick. Your son is WAY better than I am with photoshop...I'm thinking of taking a class or something...
  8. Gollum, I think that's because you're on the west coast. Over here on the right coast, we've got a huge sub culture (mostly puerto rican and cuban-I don't know why they've latched onto the rotary, but they love them here in Florida especially) of people that maintain and race old rx series mazdas, and rotary carrollas and Datsuns as well. One of the most dissapointing things about the first F&F movie to me (aside from the bad tech) was the lack of any car at the race sequences older than 93. Here you can't GO to a race without seeing somebody driving 80's or older cars. Just regional variation I guess. I like this project, I would love to see it run!
  9. Justin, you might have some clearance issues with the +27. The 300zx hub conversion spaces the hub out 3/4" from what I've heard, and 27mm equals around 1", so that wheel is going to fit like a +7 offset wheel. A 9" wide wheel with +27 on that hub would have a corrected backspace of around 5.25" or so, so depending on how much clearance you gain with the coilovers? I haven't heard what those numbers are, I know maximum backspace is close to 4.5" on a standard strut housing and hub. I have no idea if it will work in the back, I've only measured on the front. Hope that's helpful? Those wheels look good by the way, nice choice.
  10. They used to make "wink kits" to make your pop up headlights go up and down independently of each other, maybe it had one of those on it...wait a minute, I hate the car in this thread, why do I keep checking back in with it?! I'm such a glutton for punishment...
  11. ugh...who brought this thread back to life? I was hoping this piece of "workmanship" would have faded into obscurity by now...I guess a bad penny will always turn up.
  12. Oh, I guess they are 4 lug...I must have been spacing out there. Those are some great looking wheels. I don't know how (if at all) adjustable coil-overs would affect the fitment. I measured my 17's with a tape measure, so it's not especially accurate, but it was right around 4.5" to the strut.
  13. Something I discovered after I took my old gauges out is that Nissan ran the alternator power wire through the volt meter, so taking out that gauge resulted in no alternator. I heard also that the tach on the early cars had the ignition signal wired through it, so a non-functional tach meant a non-functional car. I came across that while searching for alternator wiring instructions. *edit* I just read your sig, and if this is on the 78 rb powered car, you probably shouldn't be having the problem I just described...
  14. Everybody's a comedian on hybridz these days... I expect most cars of similar vintage and country of origin should be close enough, like 280zx's, older toyotas, maybe some old mazdas? There should be plenty of those in most junk yards. You are talking about welding patch panels and so on, right?
  15. How well does that engine fit with the hood on? Time for a snorkel I guess. I predict this thread is going to get pretty long, real fast...
  16. You got a 5" backspace wheel to work without an adapter? I was under the impression from measuring my wheels, and hearing from others that 4.5" was about all you could run before you started to rub. Or maybe you did use an adapter? Oops, just looked a little closer at the pics, and noticed the 5 lug conversion. That would make the difference alright.
  17. For the 3.5" polished outer shells, they wanted $182.55 each, and for the 4.5" outer shells they wanted $206.60 each. I was going to use 3.5" rear shells on both of those to keep my 17X7 and 17X8 wheel size. I just found a set of 17X8" Advan Oni's in -1 offset 4X114.3 bolt spacing for $1198 buy it now, with $85 shipping. Too bad I can't afford that either, but it makes me happy to know that those wheels do exist in decent offsets...
  18. Doesn't somebody already have that one? You should be able to make whatever image you want, and then resize it with any number of free programs available on the net. Irfanview is one I've used that's pretty simple. Also, if you do a google image search, you can go to the advanced options and search for small images.
  19. That's true, you have to pick a major before you attend class. Also, it's imperative that you put cover sheets on all your TPS reports.
  20. Old thread, back from the dead. I just talked to the nice lady at www.kodiakracingwheels.com and I'd be facing just under $1200 to get the rims only (no center section) with an UN polished lip in the offset that I want. They sell them by inner shell and outer shell, so that's 4 3.5" inner shells, 2 3.5" outers, and 2 4.5" outers, not polished. Also, you have to buy Dow Corning 832 adhesive from an industrial supply house, and glue the sections together yourself. For that price, I think I'd just try to find some Oni's in the correct offset, and save these for something else. Sigh...the bitter taste of defeat, yet again...
  21. There used to be a picture of a car that had a similar setup (triple carb turbo, rhd) but I think it was twin cam. It was like beige or some light color like that. Let me see if I can find it floating around... *edit*After a lengthy search, I found it. Here is the picture, posted by Speeder(http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=76847&page=2&highlight=twin+cam), but I think it came from Alan (hs30-h) who is a WEALTH of knowledge about all nissan arcana such as mysterious head packages and things of that nature.
  22. Are you going to put the roof back on, or leave it open? I think a chop top would be so serious. Show us some finished pictures before you fly it back to melmac!
  23. I'll be pretty hard to ingore when I'm doing burnouts on your lawn!
  24. Did an illustration for your story real quick whilst watching Futurama...
  25. I can sympathise with the shunning, brother. Let me tell you how many of my friends from back in my Honda days (boy were they Honda days too: twin cam 1.8 on an engine stand in my room, t04 turbo-among other parts-in the living room on the pool table, it was like the home for wayward hondas, but I digress) would have NOTHING to do with me when I bought my first 280z. One or two stayed around, but to this day they tell me I should never have sold my hatchback. I don't miss it though. I know it's no M-roadster, but I expect no matter what car I get, I'll be in the same boat since I gravitate towards the odd-ball performance cars anyway. Man do I want a Pantera...
