  1. Yeah....457 miles is a little far to drive for that fascia...just keep me posted. Great find though! Totally wangan Midnight of you. What's under the hood?
  2. what's the story with that funky luggage lock in the scoop there? And for real, find out about that fascia for me, you owe me one, dude!
  3. What wheels does it have on it now, did you get any pics of that?
  4. I'll just put my spook somewhere else....maybe on the roof...I'd probably cut a section out of the center and narrow it, then reattatch it with some fiberglass resin. It should hold up if I brace it.
  5. I want that fascia BAD! It's so transformer, I HAVE to have it...
  6. I've been drawing a lot of robots and mechs in preparation for my video game design program, I had to lay off the z's because everybody at work was giving me crap like: "how many times can you draw that car?"
  7. The early celica does that too, looks like a 1st gen camaro that shrank in the wash...
  8. How much can you get me that airdam for (help your buddy out for old times sake!)? Are you sure that isn't the JCR kit like on seeya's car? I noticed it's got some different flares, but the JCR kit definitely had square headlights like that.
  9. Hotimport, do a search on here for AWD 240z or Monza Mystery Z, this car has been discussed at great length, many times, but to no avail. I was one of the people that spent hours on google and others searching for any information about it, and the best I could do was to find some pictures with no captions on various people's personal webpages. Nothing official at all. I've heard this bodykit comes up for sale every so often on Yahoo auctions Japan, but I've never tried to find one. Hey OTM, your drawing has come along way too, been practicing much? Ready for another round of "who's got the most time on their hands theatre?" I'm thinking of starting a "my z31 drawings" thread to see if anyone wants a piece of that action...
  10. So is it going to look like the Monza Mystery Z? Not a bad look. It's really too bad nobody ever found anything out about this car... My feelings on the giant airfoil are pretty much if you need it, go for it. It looks (to me) out of place and cheap on a street car, but the whale tail or the BRE duck-bill looks more integrated on a street car, since you can design them to flow with the body lines and accentuate all the work you put into the new curves. Unless you are building a race car, my personal feelings on body mods is that the car should look like it came that way from SOMEwhere (even if it's more like mars than the Datsun factory), and those airfoil spoilers just look tacked on to me. I don't want to sound preachy, I think you are making some very cool designs. Just wanted to throw my 2.5 cents in the hat.
  11. I think the grill looks pretty good. I don't know why, but I was expecting this to be about the kind of grill you cook on when I first read the title...I'm just having one of those days I guess.
  12. The problem with comparing tread wear ratings is that they are not on an absolute scale. A 300 in Falken may not last as long as a 200 in Kumho (just an example, I don't know if it would or not), but it would last longer than a 200 in Falken. So you can really only compare within a given tire line to know for sure. But I like Falkens, they have aggressive looks, and good performance, so count my vote for those.
  13. Yeah, larger lcd screen usually just means shorter battery life in my experience. I've been looking to get a digital SLR ever since my old Olympus OM-10 started to leak light every once in awhile. I picked up an old completely manual russian slr when I was in Paris last year, it's pretty fun to use. Doesn't even have a light meter, but it does have a spring loaded self timer that works like a kitchen timer. Pictures are hit or miss with it. The lenses are all scrathed up, makes everything look antique, but when you take pictures they come out really clear. Kind of a bummer.
  14. I'm going to have to learn a whole new set of skills when I have to hot-rod an electric car! I suspect that we're going to start to see a lot more aerodynamics coming into play in the next few decades. I've heard GM was working on a fuel cell car that had replaceable bodies, so you could change the whole body shell out depending on what type of look you wanted.
  15. How do you like that Canon Eos 20d? (nice car by the way!)
  16. I saw a corvette magazine with an article that featured that vette. It had a 4-rotor mid mounted rotary engine, but now it has a big block because the rotary died at some point, and it was built out of unobtanium like most cool old cars seem to be...I've heard the wankel was destined for the beetle, but they couldn't get the power they needed out of it and sold the patent off. I wasn't aware of that holden, but doesn't surprise me since I know GM was fooling with them for awhile. I think citroen or some other french company had a rotary car as well, but I can't remember the model.
  17. There must be a way to come up with an eccentric shaft that will work. I bet you could probably just build your own 4 rotor out of 13b housings and rotors. I've always thought a 20b would be super good as a z powerplant. Big enough to fill up the engine bay, but still with the WTF!? factor of a smaller rotary... Don't feel bad flames, I thought for the longest time the 3rd gen RX-7 was available NA and even got into an argument with a guy about it, turns out I was wrong. Don't argue with an RX-7 owner about rotary trivia, in case the temptation ever strikes you...bitter voice of experience....Although I did once win an argument with a kid that claimed toyota used to sell a rotary carolla based on the fact that he once bought one from a puerto rican guy that had one in it. I was like, couldn't you read the part on the engine where it said mazda?
  18. That is a fact, however I have a personal theory that blown shocks/struts are the leading killer of springs over 30 in this country. The lack of damping that accompanies a blown out shock/strut is (according to my theory) what causes them to go slack after years of abuse.
  19. See if you can get a hold of Chelle, I think she's got wires on her GTO replicar...surely her BMW V-12 is putting the hurt on those things! there are some pics of her car on this thread:http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=111184
  20. Don't forget the stance, I've seen so many S130's that have the ass-dragging blown out shock stance that I just equate them with it in my head, and every time I see one that looks even close to how it would have come new (let alone modified) I always have to do a double take. I just associate them with broken down hulks, but I can definitely appreciate a nice one. Given the choice, I'd probably do a Z31 before I did an S130 though...better choice for the NES style paint scheme!
  21. Leaving the rough finish on the runners with a carburator has to do with helping the fuel stay atomized from the carb to the intake ports of your cylinder head. This isn't so much of an issue with an injected manifold, since the manifold only flows air, but would be important on your actual intake ports on your head. I'd say doing the mirror finish on the intake manifold runners wouldn't hurt-just don't know how much it would help either.
  22. I'm sure there would be a market, that would be pretty serious! You'd need a new intake manifold, plus probably those longer bolts that hold the whole engine together, and I suppose some provision for either a dry sump conversion or an extended oil pan at least to get something like that to work.
  23. The point being that there IS no non-turbo manifold , but a turbo manifold would still work. The only really visible difference would be if it had custom fabricated exhaust manifolds.
  24. No reason you couldn't run a factory turbo Intake manifold with no turbo, what did the exhaust manifolds look like? I new a guy that had two of those engines in his garage, kept telling me he was going to have me over to check it out, but I could never get it scheduled.
  25. Oh good, I'm not the only one with a fair weather z! Definitely fogs up a lot here in Florida, since we have like 1000% humidity every day! I can't drive it in the mornings or on rainy days. Plus my wiper motor doesn't work at all...
