  1. Kinda hard to hide a bottle in the 240. I was going to run a plate system then ran across this intake. For what I spent on the intake, coating, new nozzels and jets I wish I would have never seen it. The intake was on a boat on the nozzels (unknown to me) sprayed a 300 shot. I only found this out because I snapped one off and had to have it replaced. The old nozzels didn't run jets, just an orfice of unknow size.(big). So I spent $200 on nozzels and jets, $100 on coating, and I don't want to say what I paid for the intake (too much) but it looks like this set up at Summit is close to 1K for just the plumbing/parts not including intake and instalation drill and tap maifold etc.
  2. Intake back from the coater, new jets installed for 100 shot. This was a fun and $$$ little project. Before: After:
  3. My Honda lawn mower took a crap on me the other day wanna swing by and install a 350 Chevy on it?
  4. Bring your Z down here and I'll take care of it for you, no joke. If you pay for the storage I'll keep it maintained. Plus you know it will be in good hands. I can probably get you storage cheaper down here than around FLW. PM or call me. Hate to see you leaving the area. David
  5. Also try some water wetter I've had good results with it. On cleaning your radiator of oil try Cascade dish washing detergent, it doesn't foam like dish soap. Run it for a few days and drain.
  6. Here don't fall asleep Bryan.... Think about this for a moment. It's hot outside, I'm going to leave work now and go jump in my pool to cool off. Then go home and drive the Scarab!!! You awake now???
  7. Bryan, I heard back from him today on ordering the coil over kit. So I'll be ordering today or tomorrow. You going to be around this weekend? I'll bring the Scarab by and we'll go for a spin.
  8. 7000hp top fuel dragster ha-ha-ha. Last I "heard" it's probably closer to 10K HP but no dyno in the world can measure those numbers.
  9. Rearend set up is a LSD with CV axle conversion. Zthis, what is your set up? Engine, tranny, rearend, tires? I went with the 100HP "shot" now on to bigger and better things, thanks for the info guys!!! d
  10. .020 over bore, you may be in trouble already unless you have a standard bore block that needs no more than .020 overbore.
  11. Exhaust manifolds may not bring $100 but take whatever he offers, good score!!!
  12. Heck I have 5+ year in my "project" and now it's on jackstand because I sold my tire and wheels. Realization that I have a family just hit me between the eyes like a medium sized ball peen hammer this weekend. No I'm not going to sell my project but I'll get back to it eventually and keep buying parts and planning for the mean time. I'll get there. Thank goodness for the Scarab!!! I can drive it.
  13. Also consider adding an additive like water wetter. I tell you that stuff works!!! Just add it to your coolant.
  14. As I said earlier I do not plan on running a 300-250 or 200 shot of nitrous, I'm not trying to go deep in the 10's at the track, not running slicks. I believe my question has been answered in a round about way. Granted it would be nice to start out with a 75 shot and work my way up from there but the issue is two fold. The NO2 injection system is UNDER the intake which means pulling the intake and distributor each time I want to change jets, and the jets cost would be $48- $60 + gaskets each time I swapped them out, that becomes pricy after a while (based on $3.00-$3.75/jet). I think I'll start with a 100HP shot and work my way up from there since that's the amount of power I was planning on going with when I was going to do a carb/plate set up, then along came this damn intake... Where can I get jets that are more affordable?
  15. Bear, in my avatar, she's an old friend of 10 years this fall.
  16. TFS (Trick Flow not twisted wedge or kenny dutweiler sp) 30400002 62cc chamber, 195cc runner Cam Comp cams 12-769-8 mechanical roller Duration at .05 Intake exhaust 230 236 lobe seperation 110 Duration at .015 Intake Exhaust 268 274 Gross valve lift Intake Exhaust .552 .564 Compression will be between 10:1 and 10.5:1 What I'm looking for is what is a good "shot" for a street driven car? I'm not wanting to run a 300 shot, to me that seems excessive. Car will have more tire under it when it's completed too. 10" wide wheel with 255-275 rubber on the rear. I'm leaning toward a 150 "shot" opinions, thoughts? Thanks, David
  17. My no2 direct port intake has taken another turn. After breaking one of the nozzles off in the intake I sent off one no2 and one fuel nozzel to a nitrous parts supplier in California for measurement and a new part. Well FridayI got a call from them (nitrous supplier) and Mike told me that according to what I sent him the nozzles will produce a 300 HP "shot" of nitrous. I feel 300 additional HP might be a little bit too much for me (If not I can switch jets later for more umph) So for those who run nitrous how big of a shot are yhoiu running and is it on the street or track? Mine will primarily a street driven car with a forged bottom end (crank, H-beam rods, forged pistons) mechanical roller valve train, holley TBI EFI. Thanks, David
  18. Marcus what are you doing with a TPS!? Oh you're selling it....OK you can do that, don't want you messin' around with any NO2 or EFI j/k
  19. Checkin' under my hood Scarab My 240Z JTR car (wheels are now sold zya) Twin Z's to go with my twins My twins!!!
  20. Now that makes no sense at all. You're going to "farm out" the work on your senior project:confused: You may want to save your $$$ to have somebody write your papers in college. I really feel you've taken decent idea for a senior project and gone the wrong way with it. A project is an undertaking that is worked on by you, and maybe some help from friends but bringing in a professional, no. Plus your 5K budget is GONE now. Get the JTR manual and go from there. Good luck!!!
  21. $896 from Summit, not installed and no lines going through the intake manifold. You may want to watch e-bay for one. That's where I got this one. Look for other brand of car intakes too, dodge, AMC etc not just Chevy, then you can canibalize the parts (if you don't have them already) http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=NOS%2D02620NOS&N=700+115&autoview=sku Picture property of Summit racing
  22. I kind of stink at finding these kind of parts. It is not a NOS (name brand) part, I don't think. I took the system apart to have the manifold coated here is the before. Edelbrock Torker consealed under intake nitrous cheater system direct port injection (cats out of the bag now;) ****Here is what I'm looking for. It's a brass "fogger" nozzel.**** Where I broke it. Any help out there? Thanks!!! David
  23. OK first off you don't know what transmission or the difference between a T-56 and a T-5.... and you want to build a car, a Z, with a V-8. Do you have automotive knowledge? Do you have any fabrication skills, welding etc? Do you have tools? Do you have a dedicated work space for the car? As stated 1001+ times yes you need to search/research further. You should order the JTR manual from....JTR or Jags that Run. Not trying to flame you but you really need to put some serious time and thought into this type project, it's not just drop it in and run esp with and EFI engine. Check the link of members projects you'll learn a lot there by looking at the pics. A t-5 tranny is a 5 speed transmission that resided behind a 305 in the third gen camaros and TA's a t-56 is a 6 speed transmission that backs up either an LT-1 or LS-1, auto also avaliable. Not trying to discourage you but go read. Good Luck and let us tackle your tough questions!!!!
