  1. check out what I just picked up, a JDM Subaru R-180 Torsen T-2 LSD, it will go great with a set of those subi diff adapters John is having made... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200437942939&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  2. Not to re-hash an old thread, but are there any updates on this issue?
  3. During a "normal" day, I might check it...at least 3 times a day....but when I am not working, I can spend almost an entire day soaking up information.
  4. If the R/T mount was made a little bigger at the top...I think it would work...referencing your photos from your install if the top plate was longer, and or stepped...I think it would work
  5. After much searching, I am at a loss. I may have answered it myself already, but want to confirm. 1. The R/T diff mount is already drilled / slotted to allow for install into a early 240? 2. I wish to retain the original mount position of the early r-180 (35mm fwd)...do I need to drill a new hole in the top of the mount?
  6. I should specify...theCusco PN you are looking for is LSD 135 or LSD 136, the Kaaz PN is DAN 2010
  7. The ones on E-bay are all for the R-200...those two that I linked are for the R-180 used in the open diff'ed 180sx
  8. Well, they are NLA here in the states, but RHDJapan still stocks them...two different types...A Cusco and a Kaaz http://www.rhdjapan.com/cusco-type-rs-lsd-limited-slip-differential-nissan-r180-29366 http://www.rhdjapan.com/kaaz-lsd-limited-slip-differential-s13-silvia-180sx-with-lsd-oil-58450 The pages may need to be refreshed but there they are.
  9. For those of you in, or contemplating the military. Always remember that either you, or the jerk you are working for (or with), will PCS away from each other within 18 months (most of the time)
  10. Getting the new homebuyer credit, followed by a year in Iraq, looking to pay off quite a bit of debt as well as purchase some new race tires and wheels, subi lsd, John's subi adapters, and a 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo as a new DD
  11. The local "rack" station is high on this group...I dunno it is ok, and she is easy on the eyes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l14naR3dJQ
  12. The results are stunning, as seen below, and yes, that last one is a picture of my car with a picture of my car in the window, courtesy of Nissan Sport Magazine
  13. By winter of 08-09, I had had enough....it was time to replace the rear quarters that I should have let the guys in Italy do back in 2000. The trick was gonna be to do it, and match the paint so nobody would be able to tell, I was fast running out of time...MSA was coming up quickly and I wanted the trophy for best Race-Prep car this year and not 2nd like in 08.
  14. In 2006, we were forced to move again...this time to Las Vegas, which meant I would be able to go the The MSA West Coast Nationals.... I continued to Auto-X and show the car, and of course more mods followed suit. We installed a 4.11 rear from a 200sx, thanks to John for the stub axles. Installed a new Jet Hot coated Pacesetter Header direct from them, and upgraded to a Jacobs ignition unit...the MSD finally failed. . Also installed Wolf Creek Racing's CV kit, and Modern Motorsport vented brake kit. I also finished the install of the PDK front strut bar
  15. Moving back to the states meant a local Z support network, which meant more upgrades....we replaced the 2.4L with a 2.8L, using the same Sunbelt head, but now with a stage 1 port job, and a custom Isky Cam....also installed the PDK Fabrication Strut tie bars, and GC Coil-overs...upgraded the trans to a late ZX close ratio 5 speed, and a 3.5 diff. Also added was the Trip Weber package 40DCOE18...made in Italy Baby . We also did the Honda blower upgrade as well as the Headlight Relay Kit from Dave
  16. While stationed in Italy, We did a refresh of the body to repair some hail damage. The shop chose a beautiful Sikkens Ferrari Red for the paint. They really did a wonderful job on the car....who better to work on a 30yo sports car but a buch of Italian car nuts.. We had also installed some Momo seats and I had Sunbelt build a head for me....what a pin that was getting from Atlanta to Venice with that in my luggage..customs are , anyway we did a stock rebuild on the 2.4L and brought it home. We returned to the States in 2002...some pictures at Datsun Dynamics winter 02-03 These photos are courtesy of S30TRBO
  17. The first mods we did were basic....Stripped the tinting, lowering springs, new shocks, Air Dam, 6-1 Header, Z-therapy Carbs, 5-speed, Panasports, and swaybars. We had shipped it to Italy with us, and I started Autocrossing with the Aviano Air Base Sports Car Club.
  18. Well, instead of starting this when I got the car, I decided to wait...then I waited some more. Fast forward 10+ years and I still have not posted any sort of progress thread on this project. I guess you could say that it has not been a project at all, but a continuing endeavor to improve the car and stay in a SCCA Auto-X class, and be competitive. It all started in May 1998, my bride to be decided to replace the 72 240-Z I sold (to buy the rings) with a "new" 240-Z.
  19. Well we have moved from Las Vegas to Junction City, KS
  20. Well it has been awhile since we visited the vibration topic discussed here. I had thought of moving my diff into the '72 position, but was shown another option to eliminate the vibration. A truly bolt on CV conversion. http://www.wolfcreekracing.com/wcrcvhalfshaftaxlekit.pdf
  21. John, Glad to see that this project is coming to fruition, it is a much more econimical solution than sourcing a nissan r-180 lsd from japan. BTW, they still can be had http://www.rhdjapan.com/cusco-type-rs-lsd-limited-slip-differential-nissan-r180-29366 for thos interested. I will be going John's route...esp since we discussed this at MSA last year...too bad I will have to wait until 2011 to use it
