  1. Well I have set mine up differently again. I put the stock dizzy internals back in and am running 11deg idle, 36deg all in. Carbs are 40DCOE18 33mm Main Venturis, 4.5 Aux Venturis, 60F8 Idle, 135 mains, 180 Airs, 45 Accell, F11 emulsion tubes. We'll see how she runs at the Auto-X this weekend, and I will fine tune the jetting on the dyno next week and post my numbers.
  2. 1. I would not 2. Yes you need another one, the groove is causing the leak
  3. Got an Isky regrind in my car right now, Ron told me I could go two ways: 1: Pot metal core 2: Send him a Japan cam to grind on. I chose to send him a NOS Nissan F-grind cam he ground to his L-490 spec
  4. On a stock cammed ITS car, we got our best numbers at 32deg, however, the VARA Cprod cars are running not much more cam than what I have now, and getting better numbers with 36deg.
  5. I would agree, however there were 15 cars trying to dyno that day and I did not want to hog up more time. On a side not, the current jetting will probably be spot on come spring around here.
  6. Hey Joe, I am thinking I should drop to a 1mm head gasket, reconfirm my cam timing, and then play with the ignition curve. Right now the timing is 32deg all in. I may bump it to 36deg. Also, might try the 33mm chokes again and use the wideband and the dyno to get it right this time.
  7. Nope, tuned it with the plugs and the seat of my pants.
  8. Sin City Z Dyno Day aka how using a dyno to select weber jets makes a difference. We had a dyno day on the 16th and I used it as an opportunity to fine tune my jetting, boy was I way off (Lean). First off, we will not discuss the particulars of my engine, I know I could have done things differently. The point here is to show the importance of dyno tuning....even after three pulls I feel I should change a few more things. Initial Pull RunFile_001.drf: 52.68 °F 28.00 in-Hg Humidity: 18 % STD: 1.05 Average Gear Ratio: 60.59 Second pull after going up (larger) one size on the mains RunFile_002.drf: 53.86 °F 28.00 in-Hg Humidity: 17 % STD: 1.05 Average Gear Ratio: 60.59 Third pull after going down (smaller) two sizes on the air correctors RunFile_003.drf: 54.56 °F 27.99 in-Hg Humidity: 15 % STD: 1.05 Average Gear Ratio: 60.57
  9. If you dont mind a slightly longer commute, check out the Shelby area in Cleveland county. Great schools and good golf if that is your thing.
  10. My all time fav...The Phantom II. Dad, Step Dad, and Grandfather all flew, and it was the first plane I worked on in the AF. http://http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=1439581367 Second to that I would say the A-26A/B-26K Counter Invader flown out of Nakom Phanom over The Trail. Step Dad did his first tour in them...Call sign for the Squadron was "Nimrod" and his tail number was 666.
  11. I visited Katmandu back in 2004....the embassy guys told us not to leave the hotel 'cause the Maoist had recently killed some tourist just outside the city.
  12. Pick up the phone and call them, not everything is on the website.
  13. Order from MSA, they sell Charlie's pans...at least they used to.
  14. You have to get the full race tranny, then adjust the gear and diff ratios as needed to get just to the rev limiter at the end of the longest straight in top gear. Then the car becomes competitive
  15. Plastic Army Men, Erector set, Plastic Models (of anything), oh and guns...got my 1st pellet gun at 5, Marlin .22 at 7, Sako FinnBear .243 at 10, Sako FinnBear .270 at 12, Colt Snubnose .38 at 15, Dads 1971 240-Z at 16..still playing with Guns and Cars
  16. While yours is a good possible theory, I will discount it based on the fact that my original 85mph was constant thru 2 continents, 4 different transmissions, 4 sets of U-joints, and 3 engines...the only thing constant was the diff placement and the original driveshaft.
  17. +5 for RUSH...any RUSH "RED" by Sammy Hagar "Nice Shot" by Filter "Rooster" by Alice in Chains "Tobacco Road" by David Lee Roth
  18. Well, I had the driveshaft balanced, installed new tires, replaced the u-joints on the left side and I still have a vibe past 70mph. That leaves the right side u-joints, and the need to move the diff to the post 71 position. I will get this sorted out...I did have a thought...I used to get a vibe at 80-85 mph prior to the diff change...could the movement of the diff rearward have more to do with driveshaft pinion angle than halfshaft?...we shall see.
  19. Agreed, My collection started with a 1944 SA Garand, then I decided I needed everything used during the period. My collection now includes (but is not limited too) M-1 Garand, KAR98 Mauser, M-48 Mauser, SKS, Mosin-Nagant. I am still looking for a good Enfield, and a 03 Springfield
  20. One of Braap's cylinder heads, oh and TWM throttle bodies, and Motec
  21. That is why I pointed him to the Diff sticky
  22. Yeah I know I should..That is the constant hot feed BTW, cannont remember why I did it that way.
