  1. The stock 4sp will work with a stock drive shaft and any r-180 or r-200 diff. I suggest you read the sticky on differentials
  2. The problem is the driveshaft length, If you use the B/W T-5 you will have to have a custom shaft made.
  3. There was a time in the not so distant past (1998) where a shop in Tacoma, WA (Fairlady Motors) had started to look at the SU manifold. We elongated the holes on two Weber / TWM 60mm TB's and mounted them to the manifold, the next step was to weld injector bungs and fab an intake runner to connect the TB's to a turbo AFM with N/A guts in it (remember 1998...IE no cheap standalone). Sadly, I ran out of talent in a corner one night in the Test Mule (my 72 Z) and the project was shelved, I then moved to Italy, Doug closed the shop only to re-open 4 years later and standalones now abound. Our guess was that my motor with that setup would have easily produced the numbers you seek. As it was we were making about 200hp at the flywheel with a N42/N42 flattop combo with stock (albiet tweeked) 75 FI. The thing I learned most from Doug was to never discount the Ignition and the Exhaust.
  4. Actually, he was telling me that the carbs were out of sync8-)
  5. Lost Wages, Nevada..er I mean Las Vegas
  6. Datsun Dynamics used to get the Piston Skirts "McSwain" coated but that was the extent of it
  7. I have never used the grease, just the factory supplied shims. Always use a good street pad like a KVR or Axxis Metal Master and they will not squeal. If you install "Auto-X" or "Race" pads they will squeal alot. Since I brought up pads, ones I Like/Love: Axxis Metal Master and KVR, Axxis is a little dusty but a very time proven compound (circa 80's) and is not too harsh on the rotor, KVR is like butter to the rotor. Pads I dont like some hate: Hawk (any of them) too agressive for street use, even their "street" pad will eat rotors like I eat pizza, Porterfield chunked several sets auto-xing, EBC greenstuff (see note on Hawk). As far as fluid goes, non full out race car, use Castrol LMA
  8. Oh and a note or rather quote I read off another car forum....hot rod stuff...unless it is a german car...run NGK..german cars need bosch
  9. I got my first Z back in 86, 16th b-day present from my dad, 1971 240 with a shortblock bought out of the Bob Sharp cataloge mated to a Janspeed head...sadly we have no clue where that car is now. Fast forward to the 90's and the growth of the internet, I had since been through several other Z's and was back in my roots, another early 240-Z. Became a member of z-home, and z-car, and the 240.org mailing list...lurked around here when it was just a V-8 swap site but never got involved. I cannot remember who pointed me here, Carl, Ron, Braap, but someone on ClassicZCars sent me here to get info on some suspension mods and I have never left. Thanks guys.
  10. Aint it funny, he builds the ARRC winning motor 3years in a row and suddenly his engine price doubles. JK, Sunbelt does great work but you get what you pay for.
  11. I used to do some work on the side for Doug back in the 90's when I was stationed up there. He is a very knowlegable and reputable guy. Tell him Russell, his Army buddy, said Hi.
  12. Well I started years ago using SuperB60ce which was a nickname I had in Korea (SuperB) plus (60CE) for UH-60 Crewchief. I used that on Z-car, 240.org, Zdriver etc. well I moved back to the states from Italy, and I could not remember any of my passwords, and no longer had the AOL account I had signed up for....so my wife came up with Dtsnlvrs I think it is kind of self explanitory
  13. Whaddya Know, a perfect score 20 out of 20
  14. Well anyway..you could have avoided the whole thing by pointing out the BIG L-24 XXXXX stamped on the block
