  1. not certain how to post the pics but here is the link to the fleabay auction. hope someone here could post those pics of this 'interesting' zx... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-WILDEST-CUSTOM-Z-ON-THE-PLANENT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem439eab43ccQQitemZ290424832972QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks
  2. wanted to do this some time ago and azizaz's thread gave me the kick in the butt needed. i have sold many different parts new and old as well as a few cnc billet parts in the group buy section. working hard to deliver parts that are accurately described, hi quality, reasonably priced and shipped within a short amount of time in addition to custom work on the cnc parts when requested. hope that i'm achieving the above and would greatly appreciate any feedback related to the sales. it seems that this would help newer members have confidence both in the website and it's members. many thanks! david palermo aka-1 tuff z
  3. i knew several army warrant officers who were flying fixed wing-but they were the exception. this was, however, many years ago and may not be the case today. i was flying hueys at the time and i believe the fixed wing were beech queen airs. then there is always the old ov-10? memory on those is pretty sketchy now. hopefully someone here is active army and will be able to verify and/or add to this.
  4. fred, glad to see you here on the dark side. some of my best flying memories were either noe [nap of the earth] flying hueys in upstate ny or 'skimming' the beaches in so cal in cobras!
  5. you are both correct...hinges [hatch and hood] were plated from the factory then painted.
  6. dc, i have one or two. have been replated and looking pretty... dp
  7. i'm no engineer but these do not look rigid enough to withstand the punishment even a mildly modded z would dish out... http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e102028697

comparison of billet hood pulls, polished, brushed and factory black plastic.
  9. since thursday evening we have had 3+ feet. started out as a medium heavy powder and is now great snowball / snowman building stuff but very heavy. i'm hoping it'll stop soon as i'm growing tired of shoveling...great for driving [drifting] though!
  10. all my flying was military. began as a powertrain mechanic on helicopters, progressed to crewchief [hueys & jet rangers] then onto flight school-army, mother rucker 1985 [class 85-29 for those interested]. was a huey medevac pilot in the army reserves in upstate, ny. back to active duty after college, usmc, flew kc130's up until i completed my 4 year comittment, moved back home, started a family and flown a desk ever since. few hours, quite a few aircraft, hughes 300 [2 seat helo], robinson r22, beech sundowner, queen air & king air, as well as the navy trainer-crazy fun and powerful. bell jet ranger, huey, cobra, no blackhawk time except in the back. think that's about it. license, commercial fixed & rotary wing, instrument, single & multi engine land. miss the helo's the most, especially flying noe in upstate, ny!
  11. the height on mine is the same, 5 3/8" [measured at the backside]. here is another picture, still working on the fine tuning of mounting. again, this is the sdi spoiler that was tested in the infamous hybridz windtunnel!

  13. it looks just like the one i picked up from sdi late last year...
  14. i've watched his auctions for years. totally agree for the bend-over shipping pricing. he used to not list the shipping then surprise you when the auction was over [z friends told me this]. he also seems to not understand what nos stands for. new old stock = stuff that wasn't made yesterday but years ago and has been sitting somewhere on a shelf or in storage. in his case it means any datsun parts he has available to list & sell on fleabay. there are even some parts he lists as nos that nissan never offered for sale. example, his door lock gaskets. they were never in nissan parts fiche. buyer beware here.
  15. eiji is a great guy. i had spoken to him numerous times prior to meeting in person during 07 daytona z-con. on the cruise to the harley dealer / car show we swapped z's and drove there. the combo of intake and exhaust noise of his z at peak r's around 9k, the sound is absolutely intoxicating. his very serious L32 begins to make power as my LSz hits the rev limiter. it was a great experience to drive the two z's back to back, mine with torque and hp from idle to around 6k and his beginning around 4k and running to over 9k. his z looks fantastic as well, extreme attention to detail in every aspect of the car, from the suspension to the paint and interior. truly a work of z art. i am forever greatful for the opportunity to drive such a unique and well assembled z. great source for z parts, common and not as well. i consider him a good friend as well. thanks eiji!
  16. there is another alternative and it is money saving to boot! most of us would greatly benefit from it. lose weight, it is the least expensive horsepower to weight ratio gain you can get, bar none! ever take a long trip in a z? driving for more than 30 minutes i put my earplugs in. and yes, i do have a full exhaust with a muffler.
  17. friend has a 280z, dad purchased originally, in nice shape but not running very well. if i lived there it'd be taken care of. located in the johnstown, oh 43031 area [about 21 mi. northeast of columbus] looking for a [somewhat]experienced z mech in that area. either post here or email me directly; one_tuffz at yahoo thanks much-ly
  18. i have his rear brakes, exceptional customer service [he answers his phone and, if you do get his vm, he's pretty quick to return your call-as it should be but unfortunately not the norm these days] and very reasonable pricing.
  19. j, i specifically posted this in hopes it would help others. he [jimmy z] expected the metal to be 'harder' but said it was fairly mild steel and cut easily and quickly. he made the cut approx 1 5/8" down from the shoulder. same as last time he did this for me. never posed any problems at all. he said he went to 17mm vs. 15mm to leave a bit more material on the piston. there is a very small spot near the top that the factory provided an area to put a wrench on, albeit too small and too far up.
  20. got my new tokico illuminas from john coffey at beta motorsports a couple of weeks ago. got the rears installed and was awaiting the 'mod' to the fronts. due to the fact i run camber plates, i found when removing my struts years ago i could not get the nyloc nut loose. even tried an impact gun and finally with a strap wrench holding the piston, we got it off. solution-take my struts to my good friend & machinest jimmy z. he quickly mounts the strut in the milling machine, takes a couple passes at it and a 12 pack later [my payment for services promptly rendered] i'm in business. so, when the new cartridges came, i placed a call to jimmy z for the same mod. this time, instead of a 15mm whack he made it 17mm. now i simply stick the wrench thru the coil spring, onto the strut piston and life is easy. pic.
