  1. Me mights just get the RB26 connector then =) and then rewire everything again using a continuity tester and a multimeter to see where everything goes if you're saying it's really almost perfect in terms of compatability. this thread needs more happy dance!
  2. keep in mind some intercooler setups are susceptible to super high temps due to the way in which they compress the air and how they sit in the engine bay, whereas an inter cooled setup draws cool air in from the front of the car, and cools it again after pressurizing it. don't overlook temps with superchargers. they sound cooler... but it's really iffy. especially cramping it alongside a VG.
  3. although the fan is an integral part. don't rely solely on the fan itself. you don't want the fan clicking on and off and putting strain on the alternator. i know, it wouldn't really happen in an instant, and you won't be changing alternators as often as underwear (3 month cycle, no!? ) but it's something to look out for with mega-high amperage fans. If I were you I'd look at a colder opening thermostat so that it keeps temp down before the water gets too hot for the radiator to effectively cool the system. The longer you wait, the longer it takes, and the radiator does not change in size by itself. Try using Evans NPG coolant if possible, email or call them and see what they can offer you for a street application. (and let me know what they say, I've not had the time to call them yet). Also, try running de-ionized water to avoid rusting out the water galleys in your engine. I know a lot of people don't give a crap and never have problems, but why take chances when drinking water is the same price depending on where you look?
  4. Also, comp cams sells a cam-bedding formula that you should mix with dino-oil. DO NOT break in with synth. you can run it with every oil change, but i'd switch to some good Royal Purple or whatever's clever.
  5. ALL bedding in of high friction areas should be broken in with a high ZDDP oil as far as I've read. Rotella T Diesel oil is generally good to run for the first 100-500 miles. Just take it really easy and shift at no less than 2000, and try to cruise at 3000. eas across the rev-range, AFTER you've bed in the cam as per instructions. Do you have new lifters? you might as well.
  6. between 150 - 250 pages. The pages are split between 4 sections and they seem to recount through each section. Looks like all the pages are there for the sections that are there. I'll see if my bro can scan it sometime soon. Raff
  7. Im going to take a wild guess and say you loaded the hell out of crowns of the bearings when you decided to tow and stop a 13000 trailer in that truck. what were you thinking? a lot of load is transfered to the thrust surfaces, and trying to slow down 13,000 lbs is uh..... exponential in comparison to regular abuse.
  8. I may have that too. havent' checked =/
  9. so how do we know whether or not your perception of the difference between 8mm and 9mm are correct.... JUST KIDDING It'd rock if you ever got your hands on the info. cool project to do!
  10. if by lock, you mean sliding lock like a cellar door lock (the word escapes me right now), then I got one of those too.
  11. post a pic, we can search the world wide web, or someone can say "hey that looks like a flange from _______ car with ______ engine too!, i got mine here"
  12. *rolls two dice* I got cat-eyes. maybe my bolts are 11mm
  13. tigerjapanese.com is usually a good place, but not sure about in texas. sorry. just providing options.
  14. Interesting. This book is a lot more indepth than any other book I've read on the subject of engines and technical information about all things datsun. AND, there is a section about rotary engines too. LOL.
  15. Link to the original vendor too. I'm ordering my VRS Gasket kit, and I'd LOVE to have two
  16. It doesn't really have to be taken apart, but you have a set of rare wheels there, and they're in good lick. if you were to refinish them, it'd be about 120 bucks a wheel for a complete tear down, but you probably won't get the exact finish you're looking for. There's a place near here that does it for 100 a wheel. Not sure about paint though. http://carconeswheelrefinishing.com/
  17. Karen, who had given me the car for free, was married to a datsun service manager at the time when she acquired the car. He passed away, and thus I got the car out of an email I had sent to her saying she should give it to good hands. This book has all sorts of stuff that a prep-team wouldn't need to know. The difference between gear-driven and trochoidal oil pumps? the oil gallery routing for nearly all the datsun L engines of the time? the specifications for the starter and alternator units, as well as general and applied mathematic formulas. I think this book is a gem. And I want to keep it, but I'd like to share the information. I just don't wanna let it go just yet. Perhaps I'll toss my bro 20 bucks to scan it. Raff.
  18. I just hope some day i'll actually get to see the inside of my engine.. if it ever arrives
  19. hatechoo. i think the service sticker is for the timing belt replacement. did your vendor scrub that engine with a toof brush?
  20. It's an official Nissan/Datsun Technicians Service Information Manual. Have any of you seen this before? Just curious if it's of any use, I can scan some pages relevant to what information you need... ... as soon as I get a scanner.
  21. I'm kind of glad you've got a son who uses his smarts to the best of his ability and likes to show his parents that his hard work is something he's proud of. My father is pretty reserved, and if I tell him I got an A, he'd just say "thats the way it should be", because my brother would get "A"s based on his conformity, and not based on the challenges he brought forth to his instructors like I did, which made my marks drop because it wasn't to "code" or whatever. It's kinda iffy too. I was part of the "gifted" program. Scored 95's or higher on the aptitude tests. Got a 4 out of a possible 4 GPA in college... And if someone were to mention to my dad that they needed something that I am considered a "professional" at doing... He would probably just have a conversation about how good of a marketing tool the item in question can be, and wouldn't mention that I do that stuff. I think he's sorta dissapointed that I didn't get into AC/DC motors like he taught for 32 years. But still, he could at least be a little more open about his appreciation for my hard work! LET HIM KNOW YOU'RE PROUD! show him this thread
  22. I'm afraid it happened to us all LONG, LONG ago, http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4528224696516614147
