sorta makes me wonder why people are swapping 2JZ's with S13 rear ends to replace the F2Xc series engines. Great power to weight ratio, great revability and tunability (AMS s2000 is the fastest N/A car on the tsukuba circuit @ 55 or so seconds), but something tells me that the S2000 was built with the standard engine specifications in mind, BEYOND the engine itself, considering the S13 R200 setup is an "upgrade". Sorta goes to show how much torque the F2Xc engines really do make. If you like hp as a number, by all means... go with horsepower. But the idea of keeping the engine at 8000 rpm's to make any sort of lead against your opponents also includes increased wear and tear, and less margin for error should any other components decide to fail or accidentally go where they're not supposed to, like say... downshifting by accident? LOL. poor comparison, i know, but something to think about. If you're keeping the engine within the 300 hp mark. I say go for it. But be sure to offset the poor weight ratio by including a fiberglass or CF hatch as well as some lightweight suspension pieces. perhaps even cut the standard fenders and sell them to someone who needs replacements, and put on some Fiberglass ones for your car to help too. Just a thought in regards to weight.

heard this problem so many times on the SAU forums. Find someone who will lend you a coil plug, and swap from coil to coil, seeing if the idle persists. if it does, chances are the boot on the one that's operating sporadically is cracked or weathered and allowing the spark to arch somewhere else or is causing some bad RF freq in beyond the boots. Word has it that if you take some flexible and clear "diamond-hardness" (anyone ever see a flexible diamond ?) nail-polish and paint the most weathered areas of the boot, or if you take some RTV silicone and smear it over the affected area, you will make it work for a couple of months until the weather changes and ill effects present themselves again. some people go with the SuperDI blue coil packs, but they've been tested and shown to not produce a better spark, and in some cases worse. A good alternative is a waste-spark buick coil pack as outlined in someone elses thread here. That would produce a hotter and better spark than the standard nissan coils and would be easy to purchase as well as fit, because you could mount it on the firewall and use a set of generic magnecore 8mm plug wires or something.

uh ohhhhh something evil this way comes

Home Depot already carries those

Damn, I haven't played with WOLF3D in ages man. I remember how to go into "god-mode" and acquire the BFG 9000, and I did beat the game in like a couple of hours, but it was hard! LOL j/k Can't wait for mine I'm glad there's more and more people running with the wolves lately

ok sooo I stumbled upon the video! here it be =D

nice to see some photo-sexy updates to this thread, keep em comin guys. I'll be taking some pics in the new year =)

yeah, it- as well as the rb25 bell housing will bolt up to all FS5R30A's, I've read. can anyone verify?
-
not really. try towing it before you attempt that stuff. to be quite honest, it may not be the ECU, it could be the ignitor, it could be the coil itself, it could also be the distributor being worn and old. if it's the ecu, it would cost you less to find a replacement than to try and "carb" it somehow to get it home. LOL

WTF! FOR REAL!? There's one right by my house!

it's fast enough for 20,000 rpm + on 16 cylinder engines as far as I remember. and there is an accumulator that has constant pressure that is capable of four or five times that which is required (in reference to a constant valve size), and it has a dedicated sump to send everything to. The website I went to was old as hell and didn't have more than just text info. Not sure if its been used or on what car/application and what the resultant numbers were in comparison to a fully mechanical valve train.

That's the Coates Spherical Valve design. I remember bringing it up in a thread and BRAAP mentioned that he or TonyD or someone else had asked Coates to design an L series head utilizing the Coates system, but they turned it down due to "niche" market and production/R&D costs not adding up. Tony D, Wouldn't then DEVAS System require a custom head, just like the Coates design? It is the digital hydraulic valve system right? I remember reading up on it through some obscure website back when I posted the Coates head design, but they don't have any pictures or anything... It sounds like an amazing piece. 2 stroke or 4 stroke option, individual valve activation, speed burst accumulator assitance, valve clap dampening, VALVE CONTROLLED throttle input... SIGN ME UP!

Need help with drawing body kit for my racecar
Careless replied to zr240's topic in Body Kits & Paint
do you mind defining what a "drift spec" kit looks like for all of us who don't believe in the "drift spec" parts declaration? what is a "drift spec" part? I've seen "drift spec" parts available for cavaliers and cobalts. -
you'd have to put the tc rods on the opposite side of the cross member anyway so it might be a good idea to cut out the buckets and reinforce that area if you want. Im going to be doing this as soon as i get my car sandblasted in the spring. I'll have to make new frame rails which is probably why I don't care at all at this point about cutting it up, but the TC rod buckets need to be located to the front of the frame rail and not the firewall location from factory, so you could get away with using it....

Man, I was gonna ask about the price of a single plate, but my new post is gonna say something like "2000?!, fark that" for my build, of course. Your engine in the other post looks like it needs this thing.

looks like a T56, so a 6spd manual, not auto. nice =)

the proto area would allow you to set up dip switches the same way I did with a friends MSv3 build. You can then switch the signal if infact, you find that it's the improper setup =)

I think the v12 s30 swap from Toronto was done on a fairly well managed budget, and it would rival the RB26 swaps and LS1 swaps we've seen on this site in terms of dollar figures. That's if you don't get bitten by the while-I'm-at-it virus.

Strange squealing from engine.
Careless replied to cygnusx1's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
so can we classify this as a "level 1 leak-squeak"? -
now why would you have to fab your own mounts for a z32 engine to go into a z32. the VG30DET is from the japanese z32. it shouldn't have a fitment issue at all, if very little.

Anyone with US-spec tail lights ever try a green bulb?
Careless replied to mull's topic in Body Kits & Paint
hi mull usually if they're dual angle, they have an elipticall shape to them. so they might be 3x5mm led's. In that case, I would alternate the light spread pattern, so that tractor trailers can see your actions from up high, and so that passenger cars can see your actions from a safe side distance. 5,000mcd sounds a bit low, but I'm sure you could use it to its full potential. Spectrum LED informed me to use the brightest led you can find. Clearcorners.com has a bunch of applications, some being way brighter than others. Raff -
SORRY FELLAS. LOL I know the RB20 is also a 6, i was just thinking about the FJ20 for some reason after I had finished writing about the RB20. I like the FJ but anywhoo... If you're going to be going with just 300 hp, then why not just get the JDM VG30DET... it will make the same power out of the box, and not cost you as much as the RB20 to get it installed... I like different swaps too (this is HybridZ, right?!) but fitting a car with an engine that will produce less power than what the car even came with is.... to put it easily... "meh". especially when there is an option that will cost roughly the same or less, and provide you with more power out of the box, as well as fitting in almost effortlessly (VG30DET) VG30DET (engine only) http://www.tigerjapanese.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=97&category_id=8&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26 Do you have the vg transmission? If not, Tiger Japanese sells them for 350 bucks. Complete RB20DET http://www.tigerjapanese.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=150&category_id=8&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26 so here we have a 300 hp engine that would slide in fairly easily compared to a 215 hp engine and transmission that wouldn't be overly complicated to get it in there, but would be lacking in torque, have 85 less horsepower, and would need more than 300 dollars in upgrades to reach an additional 85 horsepower to even be at the same level as the grunty v6. 300 dollars of which could be used to buy the transmission. heck you could call them and ask them for a complete engine and trans for the vg and i'd bet it would be somewhere around 1400. so... $1200 dollars = 215hp + mounting issues and possibly new driveshaft ($$$) + mods to make 300 hp ($$$) or... $1500 = 300hp + virtually no mounting issues + (perhaps a manifold modification or replacement)($$) + stock driveshaft + quite a bit more torque. I think you could use the same amount of cash with the VG30DET and make near 450 hp then what you would use to make near 350 on an RB20. had the z32 came with a 160 hp engine, heck i'd be all for it. but in this case the Z32's N/A engine came with what.... 222 hp? i don't find that as an upgrade. Infact, now that I think of it... I'd try and get a VH45 or a VQ35 and it would cost probably close to the same amount, and you START with 265+ hp. my $0.02

L28ET owners! Need a cheaper custom Steel gasket?
Careless replied to rayaapp2's topic in 6 Cylinder Z Forums
SCE GASKETS INC. makes copper gaskets for almost everything, and they have a couple of Nissan applications. They have gaskets for the huge 4.8 litre TB48DE I6, and they have some for the SR20 and KA24, but none for the L or RB engines =( Perhaps they do, just haven't listed it yet.? http://www.scegaskets.com/ There is also this company here, that makes some gaskets for very good prices for 6 cylinders. (somewhere around 150 range, for annealed copper) http://www.husseycopper.com/HusseyGasket/husseygaskets.htm EDIT: Husseycopper lists their L28 gaskets in this file here too on page 14... http://www.husseycopper.com/HusseyGasket/Gasket%20Catalog%20-%20Rev%2012%20-%2008-06.pdf -
Don't forget that the RB20DET has the weaker FS5W17C transmission, and the RB25DET comes with the strongest Nissan transmission, the FS5R30A. That's essentially where the extra cost comes from, and the other two cylinders as well. And yes, you can find a RB25DET for less than 2000. http://www.tigerjapanese.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=92&category_id=8&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1 In this case, if you find an RB25DET for more than 2000 from Tiger Japanese, they'll pay the shipping =) It's still a better idea than the RB20.

Right! That's what Boozt3d is using as well.
