  1. For the holes, since i can't weld (or have access to a welder) i fiberglassed the back of the holes behind the bumper, then filled them in with bondo. (bondo-glass for the bulk, and then smoothed with reg. bondo) worked great and looks flawless.
  2. Thanks to everyone for all the insight, and stories! Im sure there will be people in the future who will be able to benefit from this as I have. Also a special thanks to Woldson, who was kind enough to allow me to use a set of snow tires from his 280zx for the season. I really appreciate it, and can already notice a difference.
  3. well after a small "drifting accident" into a tree in my school parking lot one night, I had to park my winter beater at home (bellingham, wa) and my only other transportation was my Z. I go to school about 6 hours away in Spokane, and have to travel over the mountains to get here. Thankfully the pass was fine, but once I got into Spokane, there was a good layer of snow on all the roads. Now, I havn't actually driven a rwd car in the snow before, but I have a lot of experience in FWD and 4WD/AWD cars. I have to say though, the Z is really fussy. The smallest tap of the throttle and she starts to slide... Not that it surprises me, but I am driving as little as possible. Pretty much just to school and back (the roads were alright today) and then bumming rides any other times. Im going to try and find a parking lot tonight to figure out exactly what i have to work with. So what are your experiences with driving a Z in the snow? and tips, or insight as to what they like to do?
  4. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?p=653181&highlight=wiring+harness#post653181 this might be what you're looking for...
  5. So the engine will run, as in it is getting fuel, spark, and air...but just won't stay running? Cause i recently had to diagnose my car...problem was i wasn't getting power to my fuel pump. Cleaned the connections and (after changing the fuel pump) she runs like a champ!
  6. agreed, the 3rd one is definately the way to go. The first i could see working...but only just. Maybe if it was blended nicely into the front end and painted all the same color.
  7. haha i find it interesting that no one has spent less than $5k....including me
  8. you'll also want to use it on one of the lowest speed settings possible...
  9. lol more like sea anchors... first thing i did with my z.
  10. pshhh....driving my Z is my workout!! No power steering:2thumbs:
  11. thats gonna be quite the hood onament.... lol Awesome doesn't even begin to describe that.
  12. Avgas is just simply higher octane fuel. Which pretty much means that the burn will be much more steady and consistent. This is great for turbo cars, because they can run more boost without detonating. As far as NA applications go, unless you're running really high compression, you probably won't notice a staggering difference. Although if you can afford it, better gas never hurt anyone. Especially since avgas is so refined and filtered its ridiculous.
  13. awesome, sounds like you had a fun day, other than that first run mishap. For your next time i'd suggest getting a lesson and having them work with you on transitioning from edge to edge. Sounds like your balance and such is great for a beginner. If you can't do a lesson, just remember to keep the weight on your front foot, and your board will turn itself. (falling leaf teaches you to transition weight front to rear, which you don't really want) Then once your board is straight down the hill, you can just press your toes (heels) in and your board will turn...then alakazam! you're snowboarding lol. Good luck! im hopefully going on thursday to my home mountain...i can't wait!
  14. thats a fairly tall board for your height, especially for a beginner. although if you think you're still growing than it should be fine. Im not familiar with the M3 board, however i do know solomon makes some excellent boots. You'd be surprised by how much difference a good pair of boots can make. Also good on ya for taking lessons. Most people don't and it haunts them later on. (i took lessons, for two years in a row actually and never regretted it). I also taught snowboarding a couple years back for a season. If you need any tips or have any questions let me know. One other thing i would highly recommend is a helmet. Thankfully i ride on a mountain where helmets are actually quite fashionable. But it is a very good investment. I still ride with mine and don't think twice about it. Good luck!
  15. sounds decent...any pics? z's arent' the best cars to turn, but could work out for you this time. actually i know of some pretty beat up 280's going for $800-$1000 so you might have some options.
  16. do you have a haynes or chilton's manual?? they usually provide excellent diagrams of these things. Can't say myself as i only look at the FI parts of the book...
  17. haha i have to admit i was cheering the kid on when the cop just for no reason bailed off the road....
  18. oh ok...my bad then i guess i believed it more, cause i've been around people who wouldn't surprise me by doing something like that...unfortunately. lol
  19. they did catch him... car broke down for some reason
