Globerunner513 replied to Mikelly's topic in Windtunnel Test Results and Analysis

Aerodynamics DONATIONS NEEDED!!!
Globerunner513 replied to Mikelly's topic in Windtunnel Test Results and Analysis
lol i can't believe **** is still flying at zcar.... anyways i'd be interested in seeing what kind a difference a rear bumper ('75+) would have versus a shaved rear end? probably something you could do the math for...but another idea since so many of us are bumperless(including me) -
Aerodynamics DONATIONS NEEDED!!!
Globerunner513 replied to Mikelly's topic in Windtunnel Test Results and Analysis
^^hahahahah...ahh too true. anyway im definately in. won't be much but i'll send some your way within the week. If there is anyway to get this a little bit more noticable that would be good....cause i didn't see it until i randomly glanced at the "anouncements" section.... -
What options are there for aftermarket steering wheels?
Globerunner513 replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
just keep the bolt really loose:mrgreen: there are quick release adapters roaming ebay, but never tried one of them. -
another thing might be to do kind of a "Group buy" for it....see if you can find a few people who would be interested and split the costs. I know a couple people who do that with a plane. (to fly it rather than work on it). can work out pretty well.

Any pics of fog/driving lites installed?
Globerunner513 replied to HarrisonTX's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
280Zone, im curious how intensive of a job it was to chop the airdam like that? cause i think you've got me hooked on that look, and will probably regret not doing it in the future haha. I've wanted fog lights, but didn't want to block the brake ducts, and never saw an alternative. lol not to copy your ingenuity, but rather to take from it -

is that just an MSA style 2 airdam modded to fit those lights? cause i love that look... -
Finally got snow, and my truck overheats :-(

yay for bellingham white stuff!!....and the people who can't drive in it.... lol sooo many stupid people out there....im scared to drive -
Well, my little yellow 4WD tercel kicked the bucket over the summer(with a little involuntary encouragement from me) and threw a rod. Pretty sure the head is cracked, but havnt checked anything. So now im sure you're all saying "what, didn't have any oil?" if you are saying that, then...well....you're correct. Long story, but my sending unit screwed up for some reason a couple days prior, so didn't have a working oil light, and had done a pressure test with the oil filter (took it off to see if i had oil pressure) and i must have not lubed the gasket, or put it on too tight or something...but sure it blew out coming home from canada at 2am. anyway i need to find a replacement. And they are harder to find than i would have thought. I've checked some local classifieds, including craigslists, and ebay, and even some japanese engine importers. The car is a 1984 Toyota Tercel 4WD wagon. Engine is a Toyota 3A. anybody know any places to look that might have slipped by me? thanks alot

well for my 280, i cleaned the back of the panel really well (gas tank side) and applied a layer of fiberglass behind all of the open holes. Then filled the holes with fiberglass re-inforced bondo. (i know....but i had no welder, access to a welder, or someone who could weld). In hind sight, it probably would have been better to fill in the holes with smaller layers of fiberglass kinda pancaked. but o well. Then i smoothed the whole thing out with filler bondo (small layer, most of it sanded away). It came out pretty well, still have some blocking to do. Took a weekend. (fiberglass layed on friday, let harden over night....bondo filled sat, let harden, filled/smoothed sunday) here's the thread for it. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=110833

Posted: 08 Nov 2006 23:53 An up coming artist a little north of the border from me wrote this song recently to honor those serving/have served/ have died in the Canadian Forces. It was written for them, however is an awesome song applicable for any service men/women. to download the song/video: www.canadaremembered.com Vancouver, British Columbia, October 2nd, 2006 Canadian Singer-Songwriter, Shawn Hlookoff has written and produced a compelling song and video, entitled “Soldierâ€. "The video and song are a compelling and contemporary tribute to our soldiers for Remembrance Day. It has been donated free of charge by the artist as a teaching tool to every school in Canada. The song and video walk that fine line, neither commenting on whether a war is right or wrong, if the politics should be left or right, but squarely tackles the issues of people (Soldiers) taking on a job and a role that many of us would not do. This touching video shows the best of our Armed Forces men and women heeding the call of duty and putting a spotlight on their and their families’ sacrifices. Prompted by hundreds of requests from educators across the country seeking permission to use this song and video in their Remembrance Day teachings, prompted Hlookoff (Ha-loo-Koff) to granted unlimited free downloads and usage of this contemporary tribute to all schools and military institutes in Canada. The downloads can be accessed at www.CanadaRemembered.com or at www.hlookoff.com" -From Teacher Talk Oct 6

Whats one thing thats makes your Z different from the rest....
Globerunner513 replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
saw you driving the other day (prob a couple weeks ago) down Alabama st. Z looks good...can't wait to get mine done. btw...did you have your z painted in/around bellingham? if so where?? *is looking for a good place to spray color on mine* -
Well here is where i'm at with my car: previous paint sanded down w/ 100 grit. (not to bare metal, just roughed up) side-striping holes dented in and filled w/ bondo-glass (yes...i hate to say it but didn't have access to a welder or someone who could weld) windows out. (door windows still in cause i don't wanna mess with it. and i have new weatherstiping for the windshield, rear, and quarter glass) MSA type II airdam installed Rear bumper removed and panel shaved. So now im ready to start calling body shops to get it painted. I just don't know yet if it will be more cost effective for me to get it to the point where i only need color to be sprayed, or if i should just give it to a shop as is and say "have at it". My only worry with doing the bulk of it myself is that its not gonna turn out right. I've never sprayed primer or anything for that matter before, but am pretty much a perfectionist when it comes to sanding and making sure everything is straight and smooth. I also found out that the cost for primer alone is gonna be over $200 I'm willing to spend a decent amount on paint, but wasn't expecting that much for primer. So for you body types out there is it going to be better for me to do the bulk of it myself? And either way will it be cheaper for me to supply the supplies to a body shop? Don't know if that helps, but thanks alot!

hey, I live in bellingham too!! havn't seen that around, but i do know there's a fairly tricked out silvia (kinda ricey) running around. Don't know if it's RHD. I'll ask around and see if anyone knows about it. That would be a pretty cool thing to see.

man that looks good!! thanks mull! the black tint adds alot too... *begins daydreaming....*

so, saw a brand new blue 350z this morning on the road, and decided right there that was the color im gonna go with. It seems to me that the newer blue on the 350z's just look so much better...is it a different paint code?? also i was wondering if anyone had some good quality pics of a z in daytona blue. I know onego has one....i'll search some more here too. thanks, Daniel D.

hey dsomer, how are you going to fill in the holes from the side moldings? im at that stage now and seriously considering bondo:cry2: (no access to a welder)
-
well, depending on the weather and how much time you want to spend, you can always just drive the scenic routes around there. I know there's an awesome road (highway 9?) going up to mt Baker, which has some fun twisties and incredible views no matter what time of the year. you could also drive I-90 through the pass which usually has some pretty incredible scenery too. if you wanted to venture the 90 minutes up to bellingham i could tell you a ton of more drives/scenic areas to check out. thats really my only advice....there's a lot to do in seattle/NW washington, but you're missing out if you don't check out the beautiful scenery we've got here.

hahah...sorry veritech...my post didn't mean to come out like that that line was supposed to read.... "Crap....talk about a kill switch! " lol dunno what happened with that. otherwise that sounds like it gets the job done pretty well. -

l28et or V8? first swap - daily driver?
Globerunner513 replied to 240zV8's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
hey im up in bellingham too! im just getting my project finished (havn't really touched the engine) whenever i get around to it, i'll probably go L28et route. but don't really have much to back that up. -
Im down in Bellingham. Z's not on the road at the moment, but hopefully that'll change in about a month or so:burnout:
-
yea...actually the next day after i wrote that post i just took it in anyway. Used the same logic...basically its gonna cost more and take more time to set up an aftermarket tank than just cleaning out the one i've got. plus its only gonna cost $55...so im happy.
