  1. OK, her is my contribution: Chicago Electric 230V MIG welder (gas/flux core) from Harbor Freight: Has worked very admirably, while not top class, well worth the $350 8/10 Makita 4" disk grinder: I have done ALL of my cutting with this, from the subframes and roll cage, to body panels and patches: 9/10 Harbor freight screwdriver set (I bought this to augment my Craftsman set)...great quality, great grip, and have a hex for using a wrench for torque. They have outlasted my Craftsman ones!! 8/10 Tim
  2. Actually, the vanes are at about 45*. The pictures make them look like they're almost 90* I made them up this afternoon, out of aluminum plate. Tannji, The angle of the vanes just follow the angle of the OEM cutout in the hood. It looked kinda wrong with the plates lined up perpendicular to the hood line. Since this car will never see the rain, I'm not really worried about H2O getting in there, but I may put some 1/4' expanded steel mesh under the vents just close it off a little visually. Tim
  3. I'm hoping that these will be a bit more effective than the plastic OEM ones. Haven't quite made up my mind whether I really like them, although they will 'set off' the car a bit since everything is shaved and the car will be a dark color, so it will need something to break up all the color. Opinions? Too flashy, or just right? BTW, I've buffed the aluminum, and will paint them with acrylic clear to preserve the luster. The flash made them really, really shiny! That's a bit better! And the close up! Tim
  4. I sent a personal cheque too. No problems here. Tim
  5. Try running the car with the fuel cap off. Tim
  6. It's the "U" shaped rubber strips that the VW bugs have between the fenders and the body. Tim
  7. Thanks for the explanation...don't know why I didn't see that!! Have a look on my site (in my signature). There are some details on the rear panel...it's sheetmetal. Tim
  8. In my signature. Also haven't updated it in a long time. Tim
  9. Yes I did! Thanks! But why did you double box again? I put the smaller box with postage inside to make your life easier....no big deal, just curious. Also, you didn't include the battery connector....also no big deal, I hijacked one from one of my son's toys! Tim
  10. Look at the links 3 posts up. You order the two boards and processor from Al Grippo. Then you order the other parts from DigiKey. There is a java order form that will automatically fill out the DigiKey orderform for you. It ends up being 3 different order forms (unless I did something wrong), so I emailed DigiKey and asked them to combine those orders for shipping. Be advised that there are a few things that are not included in the DigiKey order (they don't carry certain things). One of the potentiometers, and the screws etc. just read down to the bottom of the order page. I put mine together and I have had zero experience with this type of stuff. I did have to send it to one of our members (280Zen) to trouble shoot though 'cause it wasn't working right. I think there was a couple of solder spots that were touching or something? Tim
  11. Rise? Don't understand what that is, but thanks for the compliment Tim
  12. I don't believe that either of them are 'serviceable' I would take them both off and 'clean' them out. Tim
  13. Actually I fixed it. I reset the defaults (button selection) and then all of a sudden the game let me change the settings! man I had spent hours on this, and it ended up being something that simple. I had actually sent LucasArts and email, but their response was so pathetic that I didn't pursue it any further. Thanks guys!! Tim
  14. Yeah I did that. I'm thinking maybe because it's a digital controller? I think the old one was analogue. TIm
  15. Sometimes we all need to be grounded in some fashion
  16. Sorry, no real experience, but also look into the 200 4R tranny. They come with the BOP bellhousing, so I bet it would bolt up no problem. They also tend to be a bit more available in the JYs because the Hotrod and Taxi cab guys don't think to look at the 'grandpa' buicks and such for good trannys. They are also a bit more compact than the 700R4. Tim
  17. Well, I know some of you guys out there are game nuts, so answer this if you can: Firstly. I am definitely no Gaming nut...never have the time, but I do own 1 game for PC (don't have nintendo, or sega or anything else). I have Star Wars Rogue squadron. Anyway, I bought it years ago when it first came out, and also bought a cheap game controller pad. Problem is, I just bought a new computer and it doesn't have the game pad connector like my old computer has. No problem, i bought another contoller pad (USB). Cheap one ($10). Anyways, it works great in Windows' calibration screen, but doesn't work at all in the game! I've gone through the basics....making sure that the controller is selected and that the game see it and calibrated from the game's opening screen (which just launches the Windows calibration utility). Any ideas? Tim
  18. Just keep in mind: This site started out (before my time) being called "V8 Swappers Forum" and was started by Owen years ago. That, I believe was the original intent of the site. Just something to chew on Give this post by Mike Kelly a read, I think it says it all: http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=24855&start=30 Tim
  19. Nope. Convenient because it fits there like it was meant to be there On the stock Z28, that hose went to the top of the radiator on the pass. side (a nipple just below the top of the side tank). Tim
