  1. Guys, I think Mike is being lured to ways of the dark side. "may the forze be with you young Jedi. The easy road leads to the hard life, the hard road leads to the easy life. The Hybrid Z car leads to the end of the 1/4 mile...ahead" how did you like my Yoda impression? Tim
  2. Damn Jumbo, you're a brave man!!! If your wife reads this you're toast Dude! BTW, my wife found the Corbeau Clubmans very comfy, and well.....nah, I can't say it...I'm not that brave!! Tim
  3. Jumbo, Why not put a racing seat in the pass. side, then just pull it out when you race? I think it will look like you were too cheap to buy two seats, and the racing seat will be safer, and IMO more comfortable. Tim
  4. 944, What headers are you using there? Do you have any clearance problems with the spark plug boots (angled LT1 plugs)? Tim
  5. Jumbo, I have seen the skeleton of a stock seat in a burned out Z in the JY. The back is just a piece of sheetmetal. Shouldn't be too difficult ot adapt. Tim
  6. WOW Scottie, I wish mine were that BIG. I probably need a visit from your UPS person Tim
  7. Craig, I am having the same issues. I want to delete ac and ps. I plan to make another idler pulley to pull the serpentine belt away from the water pump and use the stock pulley and mount the alt. in the stock Camaro location. McMaster Carr has the hardware necessary. I haven't done it yet, so I don't how feasible it will actually be, but after looking at the engine for a while, it should work well. The only variable at this point is finding the correct length serp. belt. Tim
  8. I have one. You're welcome to come by and use it this weekend. Tim
  9. Good point Grump. I always forget about the inlet manifold because I had to buy a new one anyway when I did my truck motor, so I don't associate it with the heads as a package purchase. If you aren't in need of the manifold. then the iron eagles are definitely the way to go.BTW. My machine shop gave me a set of valve covers for the centerbolt Vortecs for 10 bucks, they were brand new. Tim
  10. Tom, That was very interesting, thanks for posting. It makes sense I guess, but I have been programmed (maybe brainwashed ) for so long that bigger is better, I have a hard time swallowing this concept. I don't know if I would be brave enough to try this on my car. Do you know where I can find the original article on this? Tim
  11. If you want to stay cheap and cast iron the chevy Vortec heads are the best 'bang for the buck'. Just do yourself a fovour and get the uprated valve springs when you order them otherwise you will be limited on cam selection. Still less than $600 for the pair. Tim
  12. Looks SCHWEEET! BTW....kinda looks like it's wearing makeup (eye shadow or sum such) with those red headlight buckets LOL ....hope she's a girl car, otherwise Again...looks good and will haul when done!! Tim
  13. Yeah, I would like to know that one too. I am still debating whether or not to use the stock master and slave and just have a 'wedge' machined to fit the slave perpendicular to the firewall, instead of 45 degrees like the Z28 has it set up. Options / Opinions? Tim
  14. David, I used the S&W kit for my 240. Just keep in mind that it is a "kit", and some modification is necessary. That said, I was happy with the kit and the price was very good. I had to do some pretty extensive mods because of my Corbeau seats and fuel cell. I used the 8 point, so no roof hoop for me, so sorry no advice there. I have pics on my site if you're interested. Tim

    lt1 exhaust

I have a 94 Camaro LT1 and no, the stock manifolds don't fit. The driver's side was close, but the pass. side was a mile off! Tim
  16. I gotta agree with Scottie on this one. I was drawn to the GN side from all Scotties stories and exploits...to the point where I asked his assitance in locating a complete setup for me, it was only luck (I think it was), that I stumbled across the LT1 and T56 for a price that I just couldn't pass up, and it was very local. If I had not found that deal, I would definitely be wrenching on GN-T instead of a V8. I would say that if you haven't sourced an engine yet, and you wanna play with boost, go down Scottie's road. BTW....Scottie, thanks for all the assistance, hope I didn't waste too much of your time. Tim
  17. Looks like the stock 14inch early Z aluminum rims that have been polished up. I have a complete set laying behind my garage(unpolished) Tim
  18. Jeremy, U got pics? I tried to look to see if you had any on your site, but it is unavailable? Tim
  19. Nah Lone, Dave knows me....he knows it's all 'tongue in cheek'Tim
  20. Ok, I've searched and searched, but I can't find any info on this. I have heard of someone (maybe LoneStar1?) using a Camaro center console in place of the datsun one. Anyone have details on which Camaro (yr/model) and maybe some pics of what it looks like mounted in the Z? Tim
  21. 8)The only posts available to reply to are lame ones like this one.
  22. Keep in mind that if you order Simpson belts, they are all made to order. They don't have stock laying on shelves because they have a two year life cycle. So if you're in a big rush..... Also, even as good as Simpson is, they are not DOT legal, probably more to do with Simpson not bothering with getting them certified by DOT, but rather with the racing sanctioning bodies. BTW...I have two sets of 5 point Simpson harneses...driver and pass. sides, and the quality is A1. Tim
  23. Racer, Here's the scoop. All vehicles that are 1973 and older are exempt from testing, but not from having the original equipment. If you plan to do a "legal" conversion, you are supposed to tell the DMV, who will then send you to a referee station for a 1 time check that you have all the required equipment. That applies to an exempt vehicle (73 and older). Bang is correct. In 2003, the rolling average is to take effect which will make 74s exempt and in 2004, 75s exempt and so on. However, CARB has a proposed "Clean Air Plan (CAP)" which will attempt to get rid of the 30 year rolling exemption. If you look back in the "Misc. Tech" section, there are a couple of posts that I started with links to the CA vehicle code and the CAP. MAybe try doing a search on my member number in this section. Tim Here, I did the work for you: try this one or this one
  24. FWIW, the T56 uses the same yolk as the TH350, 200 4R, and the 700R4/4L60(E). The TH400 is a different spline altogether. Tim BTW, the ALDL plug is the same as any other GM car from mid 80s on. I got mine from a Cavalier, but a pontiac 6000, firebird, etc etc will work. May need to repin the plug to have the wires in the right place, but that is 5 seconds work.
  25. According to their web site, that's exactly what they did....I bet Terry (BlueOvalZ) could do it!!! Tim
