  1. What you want a heater for?!?! You live in Southern California, for crying out loud! Tim
  2. Aw Pete...say it ain't so!! Tim
  3. Sorry RX, looks like you were getting hit from all sides.... Tim
  4. Sorry RacerX....AZ Z Car hasn't sold fiberglass parts for at least a year now. They obviously don't plan to ever update their site...ever! Tim
  5. Scottie, If possible, I would REALLY like to have the inner CV units from one of those R230s (ie 2 CVs). Don't need the shafts. The CV come of very easily...just a wire clip in the housing, then a C clip on the shaft once you pull the knuckle out of the housing...any chances? BTW..those look like units from Infinity J30s. Thanks Tim BTW #2: I have a picture of a R230 from a Q45 with shafts on my site if anyone ever needs a reference.
  6. Dave's coming down Sunday morning. It's the 21st Century Dude!!!
  7. I'm here working on my Z all weekend, and probably welding up Dave's diff. Drop me an email. Tim
  8. Man, I love those ol boats...and the suicide doors..man oh man...luv it!! The only thing I would like more would be a convertible tank of the mi 60s era!! John...U have impeccable taste. Tim
  9. Marcos, Colortune is a good tool because you can see how each cylinder is tuned, and therefore each carb. It is not highly accurate, but will get you pretty close. An exhaust gas analyzer would be the ultimate. The carb balancing/sync tools are all pretty much the same. I got mine from JC Whitney, but MSA and Victoria British also sell them. Tim
  10. Wouldn't it be just as easy to hook up a cable from the carb/throttle body to the flap valve. That way the valve would be controlled directly by throttle position? Tim
  11. I used the ones that MSA sells and didn't have much of a problem. I just lathered them in white grease, got them started and then hammered them home with a block of wood and a hammer. I actually found the front control arms more difficult to do than the rears. Oh, on the rears, I ground a slight bevel on the opening edge with my porting tool (pneumatic), just to help get it started. Tim
  12. Yup, it's been done, I've seen pictures somewhere, but I have no more help to provide than that. It's gotta be easier than an early Z swap (except for the availability of a kit). If someone wants to donate a 300ZX, I'll make a kit Tim
  13. All I got to say is WOODIE I got plans for my LT1...for sure!!!!!! Tim
  14. I agree 100% (crap I hope that I'm not one of the guilty ones). The main issue for me (more than the cluttering up of the Chevy forum) is that when I need to search, I have to search all of the forums, which takes forever, to make sure that I get what I'm looking for. If everyone posted in the correct subject matter forum, searching would be easier and faster.I also agree with the popup for new (Jr) members telling them to search and then make sure they are posting in the correct area. There are so many different sections here, I would say that probably 90% of the posts in the Chevy forum shouldn't be there. Tim While I'm ranting: You're = You are Your = possessive There = indication of location Their = group possessive Feel free to flame me on this..I don't mean to give an English lesson, or preach...just a pet peeve of mine
  15. I considered myself a better than average rider (GSXR-750), until I took a superbike advanced riding school at the local GP race track, put on by BMW-SA. Well after doing about 30 to 40 HOT laps and getting very confident and thinking I was HOT $h1t on my well tuned road bike, the instructors came passed me, on the outside (read off line) of the corner on their BMW dual purpose (Paris Dakkar type) bikes. Very humbling!!! But, to the point, I learned more in those few hours than I could EVER learn through road experience..PERIOD!! If you plan to ride a crotch rocket, and esp. if you plan to ride where there is a lot of traffic, go to an advanced riding course. It may cost you a few hundred bucks, but just look at the incident that this post derived from to see if it's worth it. I am yearning to get another bike, and have been to the Kawasaki dealer in earnest at least 4 times, but I can't see myself riding a bike in So. Cal. Just way too much traffic and COMPLETE IDIOTS who must have gotten their drivers license from a cracker jack box!! Oh well...just my 3 cents worth. Tim
  16. Jeremy, If you delete the extra address after the dot com in the url, it will take you to their home page. That has their address and misc. info and self advertising. They are in Indy. Tim
  17. Just not necessary for a SBC in an early Z car. The swap has been done enough that it is not necessary to reinvent the wheel. The JTR kit works very well, and is bolt on. Now if it were to work with a SBF, or other domestic 8 banger, that would be a different story. Tim
  18. link {edit} OK: WARNING: these are not politically correct and some are R-rated!!! Not for the faint of heart (or constitution) Tim
  19. Damnit Jumbo...they get to the best part "how well does it work", then say "....to be continued next week" What the hell is up with that! Anyways....sounds intriguing. Tim
  20. Not familiar with the 300s, but many newer cars have a couple of high amp fuses in the engine bay to protect from just such an accident. 40-60 amp range.....are those cool (if you have them). Tim
  21. Also remember that the later Z had ALOT more wiring, and we all know how much wiring weighs. If you strip all teh unecessary crap out, you'll save weight. If there's no emissions issues, then get the newest model you can. It will probably have less rust, less metal fatigue, and generally less wear and tear, and the rubber items may be in better shape. And like others have said, the bumpers can be changed. Also, the older models (240s0 are getting more and more scarse at the JYs, but 280s are a dime a dozen...at least around here! If you are carrying a few more pounds, it won't make much difference with 300ft lbs of torque under foot. JMHO. Tim
