  1. Is 25amps low enough for a MIG to do bodywork? Is'nt there some sort of spray on stuff you can use to improve the finish of non-gas MIG welds?
  2. Ha ha, good video pRo. Whats all that white stuff.
  3. A mate of mine has a RB30ET engine in his Z with the original but hi-flowed turbo. After a lot of research he is going to a GT35R for plenty of lower down and mid range punch. Not sure what a/r the turbine is, probably the .82, see here http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT35/GT3582R_714568_3.htm If you want to go cheap then check out a VG30 single turbo. But apparently they are popular for two liter engines, may not be much better than the laggy TO3 for a three liter.
  4. Yeh, pics would be good. Not to sure whats going on here but it sounds interesting.
  5. For the JDM* the VG30DE was fitted to some later model Z31's so for the engine itself fit obviously would not be a problem, don't know how the VG30DETT would go, single turbo VG30DET may be a better fit. The Toyota 7m is problematical so my Toy-boy-ota mates say. * registered rice trade mark
  6. Looking good Sulio, yeh, same colour as the flares. That fibreglass bloke, does he sell Z spoilers on Ebay under the name of 'fibreglassman'?
  7. Wonder if they ship to Australia? Bit hard to choose anything without pics though, unless they can refer to MSA's cattledog for example.
  8. 'Bump steer' spacers increase cornering force leverage exerted by the wheel on the strut, the bigger the spacer the more leverage. Don't know if that makes an appreciable difference to shock shaft wear and binding but it could.

  10. VG30ET, VG33E turbo, VG30DETT, VG30DET. Depends a lot on which engine and parts are available at the right price because all the above can deliver big power. Then there are the Nissan V8's, great engines, better than Toyota/Lexus.
  11. Re caliper flex, it can be felt as a sort of soft, springy feeling under hard high speed braking. But of course other brake problems can also show up as a similar feeling. Really bad calipers can be seen to flex visually, won't mention a particular pretty looking brand model that fails that test Take a wheel off, work the brake hard with the engine running and look. Similarly a dial gauge can be used on the caliper body.
  12. From some observation a full synthetic is essential for a turbo motor, specifically for the turbo itself and particularly if the turbo is not water cooled. For example, a friend of mine has run a RB30ET engine with the crappy original bush bearing turbo using Mobil 1 for more than 40,000 hard klm, including a lot of track work, without touching the turbo or the engine. I've changed over to Shell Helix full synthetic, simply because Shell products seem to work well and are moderately priced. We'll see.
  13. As MtC said ^ Particularly in your situation.
  14. BMW anthracite grey is supposed to be close to the original Nissan colour, its a metallic, an 80's colour IIRC.
  15. No doubt Bilsteins are very durable, a mate of mine does targa events in his 240, which involve several days high speed driving over temporarily closed often rough sealed public roads. In that sort of use Bilsteins will outlast and probably outperform Konis. But the problem with Bilsteins for road and circuit work is that they can't be adjusted to take account of different conditions or changes to the car.

  17. That Wilwood setup looks the goods, maybe better than my custom 295mm rotor Z32 aluminium caliper setup. Which is not perfect, the aluminium Z32 calipers are known to flex, but when you brake at 200kph the car does slow down quite dramatically Lets face it, any half decent caliper working on big rotors on a S30 is going to stop in a hurry. As usual, how much do you want to spend in the high performance world of diminishing returns?
  18. That bobtail one on the back of the black 280ZX is the same as for a S30 I reckon. Anyway I have a genuine factory S30 one and it measures 1260 mm wide by 100 at the base front to back. I like the MSA one better becuause it looks a bit wider on the car
  19. MSA have a decent range of rear spoilers, how about this one, looks similar? http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=50-1574&Category_Code=7RSW1
  20. A dark metallic grey would look good on that car, that is the original type colour for the ZG flares. Would do you a thumbnail if........ There is one pic in my gallery though.
  21. If this forum was thumbnail friendly I'd have a few pics for you. Some nice stuff around for the ZX.
  22. This discussion is out of my league but Katman, seeing you diss the treasured Koni, full specs on your Bilsteins please, front and back

  24. That looks pretty good, pics from the inside showing the bar that goes through the firewall?
