  1. Damm, I was hoping this thread was about ho's.
  2. Custom rear entry upper plenum.
  3. Yeh rear tinted glass is the go but I hate hand dip switches. Foot operated ones are far more convenient.
  4. Top end is good but no power at 3500rpm? There is something not quite right there, hmmmm
  5. Building it up with real metal is not practical so I was told, seeing that the new part is under compression when bolted up and the new studs were tapped into the block underneath it should not be a problem. The darker part above is the dam made with Selleys Kneadit, when that hardened Pro Weld was moulded into the void to make the new flange. It has a temp rating of up to 150 celcius and the block has been hot tubbed since so I'm confident.
  6. Yeh, pistons have a ceramic coating on top. Pic below shows the front of the modified block done so a VG30DE/DETT oil pump can be fitted. The two shiny M6 studs in the middle with a new flange area built up using liquid metal are required to mount and seal the pump against the new gasket, the two redundant holes underneath the studs show where the original oil pump used to mount. Big stud on the left is a longer VG30DE/DETT item for the cam belt tensioner pulley.
  7. All your boosts belong to me, sucker Sorry
  8. C'mon, I have to be sort of careful what I say on this one but???
  9. RA1 is a good compramise choice between those two quite different applications you mention.
  10. An incident or two at my favourite local race circuit, it was very hot, maybe that explains it.
  11. That is more variation than I would have thought was within factory tolerances. Perhaps the L cranks were made using equipment that is not as accurate as current equipment.
  12. Yeh, it's called 'taking the piss' and other things, its a form of humorous teasing. Some people need to learn that there are cultural differnces and to not take themselves too seriously.
  13. They insult everyone eventually, why should Mexico be an exception and why is it soooo terrible.
  14. Marcus Ambrose driving a AUV8SC for a few laps on both an oval and a circuit -v- a chosen American NASCAR driver might be interesting. Would appeal to fans from both sides of the Pacific?
  15. Try getting some pics with sunlight directly on the car/wheels, I can see bugger all. Except for the side pics which are useful.
  16. Interesting stuff. I was always a Mansell fan even though Senna may have been overall a faster driver I didn't like his kill to win attitude, like Schumaker. Notice they did not put Mansell's masterly Hungarian GP pass on Senna in that video, that pass made my GP year. In those few seconds Mansell out smarted, out ballsed and out drove Senna all in one clean move.
  17. Weight, weight, weight. Check out some modern four cylinder turbo diesels, they may perform better than you expect.
  18. Trying to get head around that shifter mod, trying to..............
  19. No because I think that the RX7 is a smaller car, easy enough to check though.
  20. Heads are done, pics show the oversize Ferrea valves, Schneider double valve springs and the titanium retainers. Its a milestone, the reassembly has begun Z32 crank has been checked out and prepped, its all OK and will take standard bearings. Next week all the relevant bits go to get balanced and the block bored.
  21. Rotary engine in the RX7 would be the lightest, then the VG30 then the L28. 280ZX is not a particularly heavy car neither are its component parts, other than the obvious there is not much that can be done to lighten them. I would guess that the RX7 is a smaller overall car too.
  22. The S30 is more 'raw' which some people like but from an overall performance perspective the S130 is a better car. Most people when expressing an opinion on the S130 have never driven one in good condition, they are merely repeating what someone else has said. Also anyone who is really interested should read Nissan's own book on the creation and development of the S130 where the engineers sought to improve on the S30 and move forward with a sports car for the '80's. Its getting near silly to say that they did not succeed, that all their work and testing was for nothing. Talking from a non American perspecrive, it may be that Nissan US softened up the S130 to sell more cars. Whatever they did does not take away anything from the basic design, the S130 is a great sports car but will never be recognised as such because of entrenched opinion.
  23. Great project being properly done too which is the important thing. Keep up the reports, you are making a DIY manual here
