  1. As someone who's been through Six Sigma and ISO9K and all that jazz, I can tell you that in theory they're fantastic systems. So was communism, in theory. Unfortunately the majority of company leaders are incompetent enough to make them useless. They're hardly ever applied effectively and as you said, just hiring a few intelligent people and paying them what they're worth will get you much farther than trying to implement any of these new fad systems.
  2. I don't think there have been wiser words stated by a fabricator.
  3. Thank you Yasin. Someone said it! Most Z's are light. Most 240Z's are really light. Thus, you don't need astronomical numbers to find yourself in a state of dead.
  4. Wait, this wasn't common knowledge? I've been running that seal in my T5 for almost a year with no issues or leaks at all. I would have posted earlier had I known. While I'm at it, everyone knows that there is also a SKF seal that allows 280ZX tripod companion flanges to go on a 240Z without having to butcher an R200 front seal, right?
  5. Wait, when did I become betrothed? Women are an expensive habit to feed. So are Datsuns. I currently chose the latter, they're easier to handle. And Paul, may God have mercy on your soul. No man should ever have to father a woman through the years of 13-25, much less multiple at the same time. The only reason I'd ever want to be a father of a lil girl is so I could mess with their boyfriends. I mean, moving in with Paul would mean that I could finish ramming a big german motor in a little Japanese car, but then again I'd be drowned in estrogen and progesterone. I'd also be the only 3-pointed star fan in a stable full of roundel owners. I'd most certainly be killed.
  6. Very well! You should look at my youtube videos. ;) The link is in my sig... :) How about your MB project?

  7. Hmm, How many times has BRAAP or RTz felt this way?
  8. If your asking the questions like how expensive is it going to be to get x hp. Perhaps you should make sure you're capable of handling a car as light as a Z with x hp before you get there. But echoing sparks, the RB will be cheaper. How you get to those 500 horses is going to tell you how reliable each will be.
  9. The ABSOLUTE BEST? Doubt it.
  10. How thick are the tubes? IMO that wastegate pipe looks close to glorified foil.
  11. I feel that if Ron had this he would have used it on at least one occasion by now.
  12. Why big expensive forged pistons on a 4bbl L28? IMO your money would be much better spent on head/intake work. Unless you plan on spinning the crap out of the thing on the top end you're not going to need them, and even then, my ITM cast can probably handle anything this side of a pump gas street engine will ever see.
  13. No Dice. Fuzz took some. Basically it involved breaking my rear hatch glass (which really pissed me off since the hatch was open), attempting to rip out my radio and speakers. Since they were held in by re-inforced steel and tri-wing fasteners, they stayed there but they ripped all the interior plastic to hell.
  14. Body work. Indiana University, oh wait, that's not Z related. Fixing all the damage the fine people at IU did when they vandalized my car (still have interior parts to fix). Ha! That is.
  15. At least your WRX doesn't have the three pointed star bolted on it somewhere. 1993 400E Cap/rotor/wires : $563... for parts only All MB's after 2000 have a special brake system which means only the dealer can change the pads (unless you can muster the absurd amount of cash for the tool) and they turn a change of pads into a grand plus. A long list of reasons why i'll never own a german car made after 1992 come hell or high water.
  16. You act like I haven't, I was referring to the genre more than the single band. I'm not here to banter on about all the things i like, that could take days. Though I will say that there is good odds that anything on the radio is mindless.
  17. Never have been a fan of modern pop. Did get big into Radiohead though. That's about as modern as I go. Modest mouse is pretty decent as well.
  18. As far as I know, people have tried, nobody has succeed. Be prepared to break out the shoe-horn. If you search I think there are pics of what it looks like wedged in the engine bay.
  19. Great things came out of 1948 (my dad's that age, heh). Happy Birthday!
  20. Actually, the cross plane idea in motorbikes has little to do at all with harmonics (the cranks only have a 56mm stroke as it stands)... All to do with power delivery
  21. Yamaha did this for a big bang solution... And yeah, it sounds terrible imo.
  22. Well we'd have to know condition and what's on it, etc.
  23. IIRC this started in the Moto GP world. Most of those engines run the 'big bag' concept, as putting down two big bangs with more space between them was found to be easier than putting down 4 evenly spaced firings to the rear wheel. This is why yamaha now has the cross plane I4 in their R1. Even though it has uneven exhaust pulses, it puts three of the four cylinders firing very close to one another and then the 4th is offset in the firing order. I think it makes it sound like a 125cc dirtbike though.
