  1. I'm running an E88 manifold on a P79. It fits. Just make sure to check the gasket so you don't get a leak between the gasketet where the top of the injector should have been and where the top of the manifold is. I've had to trim mine down once or twice
  2. This picture was staged...or maybe it was a photoshop...
  3. MMM.... a ///MZ. It's an excuse for me to stuff my taxi motor in AND visit the PNW. Just gotta get a good DD so I can get started... Full Disclosure: I fully plan on turbo-charging my car. If RTz's car is like surgery with the perfect scalpel, mine will be like surgery with a 20lb sledge. PanzerAce is planning on an ITB M104 though. Future Plans: Euro Powered Z car get together.
  4. I kinda feel sorry for Ron. He had a decent intake from the get-go. He didn't have the pleasure of taking all the CIS parts off the motor, piling them up, and watching them burn. Ok not quite to that extent, but close. Cant wait to see it done Ron. If anything it's forcing me to get my rear in gear.
  5. Would the carbs even clear under the hood? rocked over like it's supposed to I feel even the turbo's would be hanging out in all their glory. And for those of you trying to sell motor parts on eBay, saying, "no flywheel- too many burnouts" Is NOT the way to bring money...
  6. Should be in your FSM. But, warm it up (makes it idle better), pull the vacuum lines to the advance, loosen the screw on the dizzy base, and rotate to get correct timing. Toss on a dwell meter and set to somewhere 'bouts 8 degrees advance.
  7. Techno Toy Tuning is in Northern California. ATP Turbo is in Hayward, CA. As is Comp Turbo and Turbonetics. I think that there's probably a larger market in the area for wholesalers that require a dealer to sell products to. Smaller parts that can be bought online usually don't require a dealer with a knowledge base for help. But for Turbo, ECU, and Engine parts, having a dealer to deal with locally is a really handy thing. That said, Crower, AEM, BC (Brian Crower), and Eibach are also in Cali. I was going to say, if you were dealing with euro's, RennTech is in Florida, and I was always under the impression that the middle-east has a larger following of benz's than here.
  8. That depends, what brands are you specializing in? Japanese? Euro? Just one Make?
  9. Luckily this is one of the most covered topics on this forum. So much so that in the handy dandy FAQ at the top of the forums, there's even a thread How-To. Read this.
  10. Agreed. At that price I'd have to ask myself "Self, what's wrong with this car?" I'm of the belief that if it seems too good to be true than it usually is. Not saying people don't get lucky. But I don't. So if it's a good deal go for it. But I would be very skeptical when thinking about it.

    MegaSquirt 3

I'm very excited for all of Mobythevan's comments as well as the SD card datalogging and USB connection. I never was a fan of the serial connection and now it's gone not required! And the SD card means I can data log all day and not have to drag the laptop out to the car to see if I screwed anything up or not.
  12. I have no idea, but I'm interested. Can you post some pics?

Just came out for retail. Firmware is still in the beta, but being developed! At a $365 price point for the unassembled kit (DIYAT), I think it is VERY Affordable for the new goodies along with all the old stuff you get.

    BMW Seats

From the CL ad dave put up... I have these seats in my Mini and I've dumped them in the 240 just to see what's what and they fit in there like a champ. My jerry-rigged lower mounts will even bolt right up to the factory seat mounts! That said, they are out of E21's, but you cant just pounce on a JY in hopes of finding the seats. They were option seats from what I've found as not many E21's that I've found have had these seats. Though if you do find them, nab them. I'm 6'2" and they fit me great. I love how you sit into the seat not on the seat like many and they're pretty compact too for what they are (how else do you think a 74inch tall mildly fat dude is going to cram into a mini?).
  15. Technically a 13b is a hybrid. And as a self-confessed rotard, I personally would love to see more triangle powered Rx-3's. They're some of my favorite cars from the area. If only I could find one around here.
  16. The first sounds like the anti-deiseling valve. The second happened to me, it seems that I didn't get the jet in all the way and it fell out. It then proceeded to pour gas down the intake. Also, check to make sure the choke is working. If it's not that could create a bunch of problems that you're talking about. These things happened on my dad's 84 720. Sorting the carb fixed them.
  17. I'm going to say that it's completely Dependant on the driver. Personally, with the cost of an average rebuild, I.e. stock heads and block with a mild cam an induction is plenty to keep what I would think is the vast majority of Z owners scared for plenty of time to come.
  18. If you can afford a boostlogic twin turbo kit or a fully built motor in a 'busa, you should be able to afford a track day. When you splatter some poor lady and her child all over the interstate, I'm really damn sure the jury's going to be like: Oh, you couldn't afford to go to a track? Oh that's ok then, you're free to go. These negligent manslaughter laws are only for those rich people that can afford to go to a race track. Being poor is a horrible excuse for street racing of any sort.
  19. Here's an oh so very early 90's video they made for the NR750. IMO It's a funky sounding motor, and if you look at the way the intake is designed, it really does resemble a V8 more than any 4cyl.
  20. I assembled mine in neutral. The big key is to make sure that the 5/R finger that runs up the left side of the box is centered and that it fully engages with the little ring thingy at the end of the shift fork. IIRC the correct way to do this is to put the cover on in neutral with it offset to the right side as far as possible and once you get the two forks in and lined up, slide it across the top of the box all the way to the left until the bolt holes line up.
  21. It was. They were not allowed to run a 'V8' in their class. Sooo, they just merged 8 cylinders into 4 and went racing. Solid bit of lateral thinking if you ask me.
  22. Off the top of my head: 1. Corners are hard to seal. 2. Valves rotate. Keeping a valve from rotating would drastically increase wear. Making sure it doesn't rotate at all to maintain seal would be even more difficult.
