  1. Was hoping for an old Packard Patrician. Yet still, not disappointed.
  2. What carbs would you run? I'm willing to bet that a triple side draft setup would cost just as much, if not more than the stock EFI. That said, it would probably be pretty cool.
  3. Hi,

I have a question about something you wrote here last year.

"That's a pretty gnarly cam right there. I like it."

You wrote that as a response to a discussion about a Schnider 300F cam for a L6 240Z. Well I must admit I know NOTHING about that cam BUT I just bought a rebuilt head with that cam installed.

What difference can I expect? Running out of characters...

  4. What is this, I don't even... Pics?
  5. Luckily I managed to find google. It was hard. Apparently the man's name is dusty: http://forcefedracing.ca/projectcars.htm
  6. [comes out of hole] I might add, whilst you cant comment on RTz's excellent gif taste... you can give him points. back to the deapths! [returns to hole]
  7. E21. It's like a prettier (IMO), lighter, smaller E30. I want one bad right now...
  8. It appears I've double posted because I'm awesome. That said, here in the rust belt, all the Golf's and GTi's I've seen from the era are getting eaten alive. Could it be because they're pretty hard to kill and still run when hell freezes over here? Most likely. And your sig says you're doing a RHD build, and from the depths of it, I don't think you'll have an issue putting a VR6 into your lil Golf. I never looked into it, but they seem to be highly popular swaps so I'm willing to bet there are conversion kits for it.
  9. Look for rust. They're like datsun's with rust. Is it a CIS motor or EFI?

    New DD!

Great little cars. 1.8T is a good little motor too, just make sure to watch the timing belt, if it hasn't been changed yet, and get the improved pump. They're surprisingly expensive if you eat a timing belt. Ask me how I know
  12. Audi V8's are sweet. Tons of power, compact (Gotta get that whole thing infront of the front axle and behind the rad), and sound gorgeous. But... I'll just leave this here
  13. You can have it. I'm ready for warm weather.
  14. Agreed. Central Indiana is on snowpocalypse 5, iirc. And 6 is on it's way...
  15. It should, yes. If it's in safe-mode, it'll be spitting out codes like crazy. The issue there would be sifting through them and see which codes are being caused by other problems, also throwing codes. Either way, for 3k, I don't think you can go wrong.I know for sure you can probably double your money parting the car. Other option: Many 4cyl W202's came with manual's. The pedals interchange in all 202's, and the 16v getrag bolts right in (w201). It's a fairly simple process to trick an earlier computer to run with a manual. Then you'd have a dog-leg 5 speed in a C36. I believe on peachparts.com there is one guy doing this with his 2.6 5-speed box (still strong enough for a stock C36, and has overdrive).
  16. Did he use the same model transmission? You can get a free EPC code (google it), and type in the VIN, it should tell you which transmission you can should be using. It should be the latter 722.6 transmission which went to full electronic after they did away with the 722.3 4 speed. Safemode is a hallmark of the TCM and ECU not communicating. These W202's were the start of the fall of merc in the 90's but still relatively reliable if kept correctly. If not, put the C36 motor in your 190, it will make it a nice little E36 killer. There have been many people that contend these last 2 years for the 36 before the 43 were every bit as fast as the later 43's, since the 43 was repudedly over-rated and the last two years 36 were under-rated. After 1993, they pulled enrichment from the top ends on these cars and there's a bunch of headway that can be made on them by tuning them back in. imo, a quick code-read at the dealer would rapidly solve the issues.
  17. Mine is bone dry, clean, and winterized in a heated, de-humidified garage. ...and it's still trying to rust.
  18. Good lord Ron, Now that I'm done worrying about medical school: Your 260 makes me want to get off my ass and start on my 240 Paul's E36 makes me want to go make the w201 completely un-usable as a 4 door sedan. Cliff notes: I hate you both Congrats on the 1st start however!
  19. Is it the same guy that has the 606 powered 240Z? If so what is his end goal for that enigne?
  20. This is where I throw out the debbie downer comment that it appears that you've already made up your mind. That said, any of the options you picked are great, so it's not like you're missing out.
  21. JohnC wins the game. Hard to beat that car for the money. I'd want one if I was shorter.
  22. Huh? Stub shafts don't really matter with what diff you're putting in it (you need the right output companion flanges for it, but they have no bearing on what diff you have in it). All of our R200 long nose, save for the R200V out of the 88SS are 29 spline. The R32, most S1x chassis cars, the Q-ship, the Z32, and most other short nose R200's are 30 spline. .... If only this was in a sticky somewhere....
  23. Most people don't check the broad heading of "6 cylinder Z forums" and this doesn't get much traffic. They'll either click on one of the sub-forums under the heading or the other engines forum.
