  1. My $1 fix, tie straps and some more spray paint. He's not to worried some I'm not either.
  2. It's possible the clutch fork broke too. I was shocked when I saw it.
  3. Agree 100%. He is a smart kid, good reflex skills and such, but incredibly arrogant and impatient. In his eyes there shouldn't have been a slow driver in front of him so he can go as fast as he wants to get home in time from his girl friends house 4 miles away. He has a hard time with timeliness because he thinks it's relative to what he wants to do. I keep trying to teach him, at least in driving, it's better to go slow and be late, then get into an accident or get a ticket. He's only been driving since June and has two tickets already for...... you guessed it, speeding to school because he's late!
  4. They're good for torque specifications and 2nd opinions.
  5. As a Teen driver I had my fair share of stupid tickets and accidents. Seems my son is following in my footsteps! He's one of the smartest, dumb people I know! This why I refussed to paint his car. He was going fast, came up behind a slower car, decided to pass, realized he was going head on with another car and couldn't make and went off road to far left through mud, water and lodged the car nicely on large Palmetto Palm. So much fun waiting 2 hours on a tow truck. Just glad no one was hurt.
  6. So how much was the machining on those? I also thought that the ears needed to be machined?
  7. Awe, are you "Ladies" having a hard time driving you Z's without power steering!? Sorry I couldn't resist!
  8. 78, I was close with one, but no go. There has to be something out there.
  9. Has anyone been able to find a 14" tire that will fit inside the small tire well? If so what size?
  10. LOL! bestlowrida, a "few" rusts spots? That is a lot of rust. Just make it safe, put fiberglass flares on it, get the Z store full body kit http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/7AP/50-1504A to hide it all and enjoy it. Faster, easier and cheaper. Otherwise, you have a massive undertaking.
  11. You did install the original spacer (sleeve) that came with the car correct (between the bearings)? I'm not 100% on the MM install, but I would think you would still need them unless instructions say otherwise.

    280zxt cv swap

"If" you can get a hold of him: http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=63 Not sure if anyone else makes these. Maybe AZ Zcar, not sure though. They (MM) used to have cheaper ones, where you sent your 280z companion flanges in and they mated them to their 280zxt adapter. Don't see them anymore. Additionally, you will need 280z 27 spline stub axles for the above route.

    280zxt cv swap

On the 280zx they should universal joints. On the 280zxt they us CV. I'm not aware of standard CV for the ZX except turbo. At least for the states. If they have 6 bolts and are CVs they should be for the ZXT. The 300zx has both turbo and non-turbo CVs.
  14. I had random problems after I built new machine recently. Fresh install of Windows 7 all updates. Would run fine sometimes and then every 5 minutes. Low level edited HD, swaped out Video cards and even in safe mode it would crash. Turned out memory was bad. You can create your own ISO bootable cd and put this on it to check. I ran it a few times and would die sometimes others it was okay. I also genlty moved the memory while it was in the machine and it would kill the program. Download is towards the bottom. http://memtest.org/ I used: Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)
  15. I couldn't figure out why I didn't like it until I saw the real thing.
  16. What did the exhaust cost when you wrote the check?
  17. Being American I would think you should be able to find someone making bell housings to be used with a tremec 6 speed. The other day on the "gears" show they were swapping a mustang automatic for a tremec 6 speed and there was an American company that sold an entire kit for the swap. They mentioned the company but I don't recall it. You may want to see if you can find the episode and at least get the name for a starting point. Edit: Here it is http://staceydavid.com/episodes/puttin-stick-mustang-v8-interceptor-paint-body-s6-ep13-1 Has the company names listed too!
  18. Where in FL are you? I have an extra.
  19. LOL, I know but I'm not starting it. Neve done anything like this before so I figured I'd ask.
  20. Before I go through all the hassle of installing my JY motor into my lexus, I wanted to do a real compression check because I had to pull the transmission which I hadn't planned on. Two questions: 1. Do I have to have oil in the motor to do a "safe" compression check? Safe for the engine itself, not the check. 2. Any harm in have the transmission fluid drained? Or should I just leave the torque converter unbolted from the flywheel? I figured before installing the motor, it would be smartest to know before I install. I'm just a cheap skate and would rather save the oil. Maybe I should install the oil and just leave it in the motor.
  21. For 40gb you should be able to back that up fairly easy on DVDs. With 40gb drive I'm assuming your still on XP? BLOZ UP method is over the top, just like a hybridzer! Just do this: "For the price of one year of that, $60, you can get a 250GB external drive, backup everything a few times over, and it will last a couple years on average. I'd rather take my chances with a single external hard disk, and just replace it when it fails."
  22. Please post that build over here too! I'd be interested in seeing that. Sorry to thread jack!
