  1. I searched and couldn't find what i was looking for. I was wondering if anyone had pics of how they ran there IC piping and air filter on there zx. I want to do the least amount of cutting possible, but don't want to add too much extra length or bends. Also would like to see what you did with your air filter, and what style and and size IC you used. I'm thinking of running the cold pipe back behind the rad, but there wouldn't room with the stock fan/shroud. Any one done this before? Would a taurus fan and shroud buy enough room? Thanks
  2. Ahhhhh, thanks. Can't wait to see what those go for
  3. I'm afraid theres no suspension stuff on there. Very curious to see the prices on these parts
  4. oooh, well mine is a 2+2:razz: BTW Graham, would you be interested in helping with the swap? I'd like to do it this winter, but need to find some garage space to borrow/rent for a few weeks. Happen to know where such a place would exist? lol.
  5. I would also be all for a strictly s130 site. Its so hard to do searches for s130 specific stuff here.
  6. I've got a 83 n/a 5spd 2+2. Pretty much stock at the moment. Its my summer daily driver, and auto-x toy. Also have an exact matching (minus black 2 tone) 83 turbo auto for parts. I'll be swapping motors the winter if i can find a place to do it. The car belonged to my high school gym teacher since new, and was the envy of the school. He sold it when i was in grade 11, and i found it and bought it the week of gr. 12 grad.
  7. I've got a 83 zx and a 83 zxt auto parts car. I plan to swap the turbo motor into my n/a. Since the majority of l28et's came dragging an auto, what have you guys done for a flywheel? Is there a difference between turba and n/a flywheels? I'm thinking i'll just reuse the n/a flywheel, meaning when i order my clutch, i would order one for the n/a application correct? On Ebay, most of the clutches are advertised to fit 300zx's as well. Are they actually the same? Sorta related, any clutch recommendations? I've heard good things about ACT, so thats at the top of my list right now. And sorta unrelated, will i run into any bugs using the auto ecu while stirring my own gears?
  8. Wow! Valve cover reminds me of a 24v cummins diesel. Now i gotta hook up my laptop to my stereo and watch that vid again. Laptop speakers just arent doing it justice.
  9. Hate come across like an ass, but theres is weeks worth of reading on these subjects. Try searching and see where that gets you.
  10. Are those flares metal or fiberglass? If there fiberglass, how did you bond them to the quarters?
  11. Another related question, can you use the ka tps be used, or dou you have to fit a l28e tps to the ka body?
  12. Well fast forward till now, I've got a 83 turbo parts car with 150 000 kms, with a p90. Runs pretty good except for a few small issues (input more than welcome here: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=125172 ). I plan on just doing a straight swap for now, and will prolly have the motor out down the road to fix some rust on the inner fenders, and might do a rebuild then. Off topic, any small jobs i should do to the motor while its out? i'll have the valve cover off to paint it, so obviously it'll be getting a new valve cover gasket.
  13. Here's my bone stock zx body rolling around the track. Definately not not much contact patch on that inside front Facial expressions are priceless too!
  14. Definately not a fan of the quarter, but the front fender looks sexy. The quarter would be just as nice if it didn't have that ugly scoop on it
  15. when i start my engine in my 83 turbo, if i don't touch the gas, it will surge from ~200 to ~1000 rpm 4 or 5 times before just dying all together. Now if i rev it and snap the throttle shut, it dies also. This problem is worse when the engine is cold, but still there when its warm. Any ideas as to what it would be, or how to begin troubleshooting without spend a whack of cash on new parts? Now this is my parts car, and i intend to swap that motor into my 83 n/a as soon as i can get the kinks worked out. My freind thinks its the tps. If this is the case, can a ka24 tps be used with a 280zx ecu, as i plan on doing the ka tb swap.
  16. Well i picked a 83 280zx turbo for parts a few weeks ago to swap into my 83 n/a. The parts car is an auto, and obviously i'd like to stay with the 5 speed, so i've been looking for a t5 to swap in with the turbo. Now i havn't had much luck with the t5 search, so i was looking into the current 5 spd i have, and it seems the t5 isn't too much stronger than what i've got now, and neither are all that strong. Another reason i wanted to swap trannies was because my 5spd is grinding in 2nd and 3rd on really hard shifts. Now my plan for the swap is to just start by straight swapping motors (parts motor has 152 XXX kms on it, and doesn't blow any smoke). As i can afford parts, i would be adding a fmic, bigger injectors, ecu, fuel pump, afpr, and what ever other supporting mods it takes to max out the stock t3, then decide what turbo to upgrade to. So my question is how much power has the nissan 5 speed been known to take. Eventually i'd like to do the 240sx or 300zx trans swap, but in the mean time i'd rather concentrate my money on squeezing some more power out (student budget). I have a freind who's gone through 3 trannies already this summer on his l28et 240z running 15psi with a t3/t4. Also, i assume the t5 is a different length and require a new driveshaft also? Lastly, what are some of the better clutches out there. My car is a 2+2, and when looking for clutches, it shows different models for coupe, 2+2, and turbos. Sorry if this post seems a little all over the place, just a little torn as to what route to take. It would be nice to keep the 5 speed, but with it already grinding, I think it would be much worse with a good chunk more torque being spun through it. T5 doesn't sound like it would really be worth it, especially if i would need a new driveshaft made
  17. Turned out that the solenoid wire popped off. Found that out after pulling it and taking it in for a bench test:mrgreen:
  18. I went to start my car today after not driving it for 2 days. When I turned the key, all i got was a click comming from the starter. This has happened in the past, but i traced it back to battery terminals. It was arcing from the terminals to a bare part of the batter cable. A little eletrical tape fixed that. So i cleaned the terminals, made sure there was no bare cable, and it still wouldn't start. Next i tried sanding the positive terminals at the starter, as well as a few shots of contact cleaner. Still didn't really help, although it did start just once after that. Since i was just trying to leave to a movie, i didn't have time to play with it too much. I didn't get a chance to a play with the starter ground, but my starter is grounded in 2 spots. One to the motor ( I think, theres no ground cables), and also directly to the negative battery cable (I did this last time it wouldn't start. Found that the bottom terminal on the cable was just dangling, so i connected it to the starter mounting bolts). Also, me and a freind just decided to try and push start it. For whatever reason that wouldn't do it either. And we've push started it numerous times without a problem. Can anyone help diagnose the problem? I would guess its the starter motor itself, since i assume the click is the solenoid working? I've got a 83 turbo parts car as well, but i'm kind of afraid to jack it up to get the starter out of.
  19. damn, looks like its just for a coupe also
  20. it doesnt have a diagram on the fuse panel cover? Otherwise just go through all your fuses a change whichever are burned out. Wouldn't take too long
  21. Dunno about z's, but on 280zx's its fused. Same fuse does the oil pressure guage, and 1/4 tank fuel guage
  22. yessir thats right. No battery, just a 300 amp booster pack connected to the terminals. I was pretty ecstatic. As for the tank, it looked like it was lined with plastic, and was baffled, so there was no rust in it. I was thinking that maybe the reason it wasn't running so well the next day was that chunks of whatever may have found there way to the injectors. I have a half a bottle of seafoam kicking around that i'll run through the fuel system. As for the starting issue, I would guess either ignition switch or transmission. Perhaps, something to do with the starter? I though i should at least hear a click if the starters getting power though.
