  1. IF you where to get a old datsun pickup and keep the old 4 cyl in the front where it looks like its all there, then have the L28 in the back under a truck bed cover with a very ricy sounding muffler. Outfit with the normal stickers, dozens of little dive planes, big wheels showing off the 4 inch drum brakes, large air dams which you run into curbs then fill the cracks with bondo. And a very larger aluminum painted to look like carbon fiber. Get and a whole bunch of guages and some neon throw on one of those under shirts and your good to go.
  2. Even the moderators are making fun of him, what dueshes.
  3. Thats what I was thinking that the headers make the gas move quicker because it concentrates the heat? The motor would kinda be hyperventilating, in a sense.
  4. Im not sure about that, I think a motor has to have some back pressure. Im not sure if its that you have to tune it but I took my exhaust from the catylitic converter back to do some work and started it and it wouldnt run well after 3000 rpm. If you didnt need backpressure Im sure ricers wouldnt have to buy theyre own 4 inch exhaust for theyre cars, Itd come from the factory as a "superduperfastperformanceenhancer package".
  5. Ive been watching the website for the last year or so and watching as they developed it. I looks awesome and would be super quick. Id love to get the daytona coupe they sell but who needs one of those when you have a Z........
  6. Looks nice!! Those are the first flares ive seen that really look good. To bad I dont have 270 dollars.
  7. My wallet is quite small, its more of a change poush then a wallet. Turned out they shipped my stuff on the 26th and so Ill get the bumpers and air dam in a couple days, and Ill be able to test fit them to see how they fit.
  8. I think those look great but I dont think you can beat the Rewinds for 500 dollars from MSA. Picture isnt my car but shows the wheels.
  9. You should be able to buy any supercharger depending on your preferences and make ducting and brackets to mount it. I believe there were several threads recently on people supercharging l series motors.
  10. Looks great! Im hoping to get a plastic fuel cell from summit, do you know if the plastic ones are any good compared to the aluminum considering price also. I wont need it for scca or anything like that. Once some kind of fuel cell is added in my car Im planning to have either dual exhaust similar to the srt4's or two pipes coming out the center. Also did you totally remove all the sheet metal around the spare tire area? I couldnt quite tell from the picture.
  11. I believe that cars been on several times before in the past, he might be asking to much(reserve never met).
  12. I thought my car was rusty. Youd have to judge if its worth trying to repair it all. One thing you could do is scrap the front end and make a tubular chassis for the front.
  13. I guess the only thing I can do know is wait till they come. Paitently wait........ Thanks
  14. Ive got a 78 2+2 and Im getting my fg 240z bumpers and and 280z urethane air dam in jan (backorder). Any way to get any pictures with them on the car? What color will it be painted?
  15. METTALICAR- Yeah I wasnt about to start any cutting on it before I had the bumper. Also were yours chrome bumpers, because Im getting the fiberglass ones from msa that are meant for a 240z. BLUEOVAL- I was told by the guy at msa that you could leave the bumper how it was because it already had a nice finish. My car will hopefully be a silver and have flat black accents like window frames door handles etc and I thought the bumpers would work just how they are.
  16. Even though the members arent here anymore doesnt Msa sell a SCCA certified rollcage?
  17. Thats pretty neat that your dad made the buisness. Im debating buying them. I was thinking theyd get cracked easily or scratched? Thanks for the writeup mentallylost.
  18. Thanks for all the info. I was planning on taking about 3 inched around the actual indent. Ill be sure to weld it top bottum left right etc. Also does any one have a lower quarter panel area that I could purchase from them? Thanks-You guys all got some rep. added
  19. I was told by msa that you might have to sand down the fiberglass. IM not sure I want to do that because the bumpers have a gel coat that gives them a nice finish that Im not sure I want to take off. I wouldnt be making my own panels Id try to find a car I can cut around the indents and then weld it in. I bet if you went slow enough the metal wouldnt warp?
  20. Hey Im just about finished repairing rust damage on the lower rear quarters behind the wheel. Ill be recieving the fiberglass bumpers from MSA in jan. (back ordered available jan 15) and from what I know they fit very tight on Z's without indents and may not fit on a 2+2. My question is has anybody welded in the indents onto a 280z coupe or 2+2? This would solve the problem by leaving a little room. It seems that it would be relatively simple but havent been able to check it out and find a car to cut them off of. Thanks Derek
  21. So you dont have to do any welding to mount the motor mounts. If I remember correctly the guy had said for whatever car he had he had to weld a plate to the frame rail then bolt or weld the mount to that. Is the datsun different?
  22. It always feels better to give then recieve.
  23. What guage steel do you use for a 350 sbc? At a goodguys carshow I went to a friend of mine was talking to a guy about motor mounts and susp. mounts and the guy said you have to be careful on where you weld, which part you weld first etc. 240zv8-Where in Washington do you live, Im on the east side and wish someone would get a car show together some time!
  24. Im not really smart about turbos motors but will a na motor with a turbo really work that well? How many turbo parts did you put on and how many are still na?
