  1. My wife has the same job (Prep and year 1, read bug incubators). I fortunately don't get much of it though, put it down to positive thinking, but when I do, man it is a bad one. Take care, and good luck with the tuning.
  2. Citjet. I have the same colour car as you, and when I broke one of my mirrors, I purposely didn't buy the chrome version because I thought it would look bad. Man have you proven me wrong, it looks great. Well done. Brad
  3. The reason companies don't sell injectors based on 80% duty cycle is for a few reasons. One is marketing (Our injector is bigger then yours), the other is to set a standard. People buy larger injectors because they need to flow more fuel. Companies see this and want to show you the maximum capacity of their injector. When was the last time you bought a hard drive? Companies use to sell hard drives based on a metric GB I.E. If it had 1000 MB, then they would call that 1 GB and sell it as such. In reality a GB is 1024 MB. Then there was also lost space due to indexing tables etc. This seems to be getting worse, the last hard drive I bought was a 500GB hard drive and it only had 470GB of useable space. (I don't know what sort of math they are using to get those sort of numbers). I like that manufacturers use the 100% duty cycle measure. It is not how much fuel you will get through the injector (As you will never use such a high duty cycle), however it makes comparisons between different companies easier. It also means that injectors can be easily bench tested to determine their condition (You don't need a PWM signal to bench test, just hold them open). What is worse is when injector companies sell them based off of hp rating. That really grates me.
  4. Sounds interesting mate, you have me subscribed. Interested in the head work your doing as well and can't wait to see some photos. Brad
  5. I hate it. No apologies (You asked what we think). I think the look works with sedan coupes (I.E. Cars thats are more like a 2 door coupe version of a sedan), not on an s30 that has always been a coupe. It looks good, just not on an s30.
  6. What about an anodized finish. Look up Bright Anodizing. It is extremely shiny.
  7. I will play. Everytime I think of my engine bay, I think "Yeah, my engine is pretty clean". Then everytime I lift my bonnet, I think "Oh crap, where do I start". One day I will have my engine bay as tidy as some of you guys, just not for quite a while.
  8. WOW!!!!! I am jealous, and subscribed to the thread, well done.
  9. Your feeling was correct, you are the only one amused (Well at least I think you are).
  10. Derek, 900rpm, is that the cold start idle or is that the idle once warmed. (Bit confused as you mentioned the IAC, I thought that was just for cold start). If it is warm idle, are you planning on reducing the idle? Cheers Brad
  11. Scrap what i said and just read Braap's response. Much better response than mine.
  12. Well I can take the money off your hands, however I don't really have any use for your time, creativity or thought process. Seriously though, a couple of people are starting to do the z32 V8 idea. Braap on this forum is doing LS route as are a couple of others. From what I have read of Braap's thread the LS is far from straight forward. There is a guy on aus300zx.com doing vh45. So obviously the V8 in the Z32 is doable, but maybe not as straight forward as you infer. I wouldn't personally go rb26 gtr 4wd setup due to weight. Do you really want to make the z32 even heavier? R32 Gtr was 100kg heavier then the Gtst, not sure how much of that was the driveline, but my bet would be a decent amount. What I think you have to do is decide what sort of car you want to drive. The s30 is a light car with great feedback. Normally no modcons, generally will rattle and squeak, but is spirited, fun and involving (I always have both hands on my steering wheel). Not having the modcons also can make the s30 very simple electrical wise. The z32 is heavier, less feedback, but with plenty of modcons. Easier to drive without thinking (Powersteering) but can still has spirit. I have just realised whilst writing this that you will probably know all this as you have both cars. So I guess my advice is decide which type of car you want to have and then start thinking the modification possibilities. (Or take your third option but with no 4wd and do both cars ).
  13. WOOHOO. Your last goal has been reached "3. It runs". Well done mate, that is an awesome feet. Congrats, sorry I am no help with the tuning.
  14. Come on guys, back to Mull's build. I understood ARZ clearly. He was just trying to help. Now Mull, how is the project going? Are there any videos on the editing floor?
  15. I think the main problem with the rear wing is the angle. Seems to be angled the wrong way to me, is he thinking of driving it fast in reverse?
  16. What lights have you got behind your instruments?
  17. Ok, I'm interested now. Did you just move in? If so, who the hell lived there before you? If not, what have you been up to? Was your girlfriend faking the shock? Was there a glint of pleasure in her face?
  18. It looks like an odd fit due to only seeing some of the minor ticks on the face. If you open it up a little as you said I think that will help. Also, are the autometer gauges painted perspex? Can you do something similar to this for your indicators. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=143337
  19. I reckon you could make some money selling prints of those photos. I particuarly like the Art Photo 2 (Looks like I picked up an old magazine) and Art Photos 1 is also really nice, would look cool with the engine in focus and the engine bay blured. Would look great as a A1 photo on my Garage wall. Also think it would look great as a black and white. Now, onto the rest. I like the wires on the bottom, very clean looking. I don't like them coming out to the fender, but it isn't my design and I understand your motivation. (Your choice and so far you have been making great choices, so don't make me hinder you, it is just my preference). I love the glass beading on the valve cover. Very sexy, very sophisticated. (I have always like matt finished metal over super shiny metal). Were you able to do the Alodine finish your self (Just been reading up on it, sounds like an interesting finish compared to anodizing)? All in all, great work derek. I don't know what else to say, "I'm Jealous". EDIT: Just looking back at your photos again. I didn't realise that you already had the injector wired hooked up! I didn't even see them the first 50 times I looked at your photos. That is super clean. Much better then my original idea. WOW!
  20. "D" after the number in a nissan engines designation (I.E. SR20DET) stands for Double OHC. "E" for EFI, "T" for Turbo. Has nothing to do with distributors.
  21. Are you confident about this? I am pretty sure that my turbo spools up and produces boost when I rev it in nuetral. Probably not as much as the engine won't be working as hard (Consuming less air/fuel and therefore less exhaust = turbo spinning slower), but I think it will still produce pressure. I aggree, I don't think you will see your wastegate arm actuate as it will only open when it releases pressure (Happens when it gets to the pressure it is set at). The only experience I have had with popping has not been associated with the Blow off valve operating. I have had the Blow off Valve "Blow Off" my intake. That made a pretty loud popping noise. I also had an intercooler tubing do the same thing and make the same noise. The other thing it may be (I also noticed that you said it was hesitating above 4k) is a missfire. That noise will be coming from your exhaust though. Just read through your post again and realised that you had this noise happen a couple of times above 4k. I don't think it will be a hose coming off like I said earlier as the pressure in your intake wouldn't increase again until you fixed the air leak. P.S. Enjoy the feeling, it sure does feel different then a N/A engine.
  22. Cheers, was a bit bummed about the hp figures, but when I got in it, it pulled really hard, which was backed up when I saw the torque figures.
