  1. wow, that's a good starting point. good luck! planning to put similarly-sized wheels as your Z as well?
  2. crap... thought i looked more carefully.... sorry for the repost.
  3. very impressive. i've always thought a 510 wagon would look good with flares and larger wheels. thanks for the proof!! i've had 2 opportunities to buy 510 wagons in the past 2 years and passed up on both to keep working on the z. i only hope another opportunity comes along. your work has inspired
  4. i agree with tim. oil pans are easy enough to change without having to put the engine on a stand. also, the one piece rubber pan gaskets are wonderful!
  5. i have the radiator kit and am very happy with it. one thing that had bothered me before was what i would do about a top bracket. the one that comes with this kit looks great and works nicely with mounting the electric fan.
  6. yes, those are the scarab/hooker mounts. that's exactly what i had for mine before going jtr.
  7. if i recall correctly, it will give you 2 to 2.5"
  8. i agree that it looks better. also glad to see you got rid of the rear bumper.
  9. a 280 spring on 240 struts will raise your car. that's how my car was raised originally to allow for a 27" diameter tire. depending on how much you need/want to raise, just changing the spring hats from 240 to 280 will give you about 0.75".
  10. do you mean the horizontal bars? if so, you are required to remove those, as they are bad news for any fiberglass hood. when i purchased my hood, the instructions that came with said to remove them.
  11. that's an awesome find!! 8) i have an orange '70 240 that i found similarly. that is, stored in a barn for 10 years. good, but not as good as yours and worth every penny of the $600 i paid. tony d is right on in stepping back and thinking about your goals. it's your car now, so do what brings you the most happiness. again, great find!
  12. victoria british part number 79-660 @ $0.50 each 1-800-255-0088
  13. victoria british ltd. has those. the same plugs are used to hold the seal that goes on the bottom of the doors. i would give a part number, but i dont have my catalog here at work. you can request a catalog here: http://www.victoriabritish.com/z_zx_cat_page.htm
  14. not exactly. the city has its own roads exclusively for the golf carts. i still think the geo that scottie posted with the gn motor is pretty high on the ultimates list.
  15. yes it will.... summer heat has definitely slowed my project down. advice above is good. dont give up!!
  16. no, sorry i dont. my comment was just based on the first pic posted.
  17. it is custom. it's the same as the msa kit, but with another front spoiler molded onto the bottom. side skirts got an interesting treatment.
  18. the hood that i have on my car was bought from jc whitney, but is made and shipped directly by Legendary Cars. jc whitney does not keep these in their warehouses, which is why you have to pay the shipping at time of delivery. the fitment, packaging, etc are all very good. i cannot stress enough how well they package these hoods. when i placed the call mentioned above, the Legendary Cars rep. reported that the price was $375 direct from them + shipping. shipping should be on the order of ~$75 to atlanta. one might assume you could pay the shipping in advance, though, if ordering from legendary cars directly.
  19. i know that a few people here are using them with jtr out of the box, but some had complained a bit about the low-hanging passenger-side like tim mentioned. mikelly had posted some pics recently of his installed in his car. i had not heard of s&s modifying them, though. i do recall, however, a thread where some members were trying to get s&s to make/modify the existing ones to fit with the jtr kit. i do have a friend that is using them in 2 cars currently, but with the scarab/hooker kit. from what i understand, they were designed for (as listed on the s&s webpage) 'Long Hugger 1927-34/ 1935-48 Fat Fenders with Rack & Pinion /1962-67 Nova'. and someone along the way figured out that these headers fit with datsuns with v8 conversions, though they were not specifically made for this conversion. let us know what you hear from s&s...
  20. make what adjustment? i have the same headers and will be installing them in the next few weeks. i know they work as is with the hooker kit. is there a different header now from s&s for the jtr install?
  21. ross c at modern motorsports (not trying to knock any other vendors, i've just mostly dealt with ross) has everything for your needs: 5 lug rear stub axle conversion: http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=32&products_id=46 coilovers: http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=12 there are many members here with 17x8 and 17x9.5 for the rear, but most have to use coilovers (some of the guys with custom built $$$ wheels have mounted 17x8 without coilovers). for the torgue thrusts to fit, you will need the 5 lug conversion for the rear stub axles, coilovers, and possibly a spacer for the rear wheels. for the fronts, you'll need the z31 front hubs as you mentioned. this is basically what i was planning for my other z, but i'm also leaning a bit towards the hopsters.
  22. quoted for being your opinion. some of us obviously do differ. the z can be whatever kind of car it's owner wants (and can afford to fund). and going 5 lug opens up a lot more modern options than the panasports and libras that everyone else has on their Z's, otherwise the option probably wouldn't be so readily available from the likes of modern motorsports. given that this car has a v8 (as does mine) and ford 9" rear, bigger wheels and tires are much more appropriate.
