  1. I say leave it red, if my '75 looked as good as your '71, I'd be happy. However, I think if it really bothers you, you should repaint them gloss black, the spraybomb would look a bit cheap on an otherwise very nice car, in my opinion.
  2. Do you have any pictures of the manifold you'll be running? This swap intrigues me greatly
  3. Single cam VG33 heads dont fit a dual cam block, unless I've been seriously misinformed, which I suppose is possible.
  4. I personally think its a gorgeous conversion, aside from the fact that this particular example could have the turn signals worked into the frontend better. Besides, when the 240SX debuted in America, they did run advertisements saying "The 240 is back..", haha, someone just took them literally.
  5. A guy by the name of Satan makes turbo relocation manifolds, and I think twin turbo manifolds for the VG30E, he resides mostly on www.88hybrid.com, I believe, it seems you could do a VG30ET(T) just as easy as a VG30E with one of his setups.
  6. These S13 front ends have been discussed before, and it was concluded that its not actually a Z nose, just a copy designed to fit the S13, if I recall correctly.
  7. Ha, none of the junkyards around here ever get the good stuff like LSxs or 944s. I've never seen one Z newer than 89 in a junkyard around here. Never even seen a Q45 in the junkyard. This is fine with me, though, I love the L(ET) and VG30ET. And everything I need to keep the '76 Maverick(4.1 litre I6) goin is a minute away.
  8. Not necessarily. The starter on my dad's '76 F-100 (302 2v) went bad years ago, and he put a brand hammer new one on it from the Ford dealership. Dead in two months. Replaced that one with a junkyard one, been going strong for probably 8 years now. Maybe growing up with 3 junkyards in a 1 mile radius of my house has affected my mindset.
  9. Oh, is that one of the solid rears from a smaller Datsun?
  10. Come do mine. If fuel mileage of a civic is that important to the guy, so be it. I wont drive it.
  11. Never heard of an H190. If its an R190, I believe those were Datsun Comp. differentials.
  12. Nothing Z specific, just extra money to splurge on it as I see fit. I did get a hella nice Fossil watch, to match the Fossil wallet I got last year.
  13. Why dont you just get an '83 distributor?
  14. If its up your alley, NFS: Pro Street is a seriously fun game for the PS3. Or, Gran Turismo 5 is supposed to come out the 30th or 31st I believe. I've played the Japanese demo, and I can tell you, it's INSANE. Theres a cockpit view for every car in the game (which is 500+) and you can actually use the guages in the cockpit instead of the HUD if you want. It looks and feels as real as going and out getting in your car.
  15. Again, he's not going to be using the L28, read : 2JZ, Toyota Inline-6.
  16. I believe between ceramic coating the manifold and turbine housing, and using a turbo blanket, the heat transfer would be kept to a respectable level. I'm not against a heat shield that covers the top/sides of the turbo, just one that covers the entire underside of the intake. I just dont like things that are unneededly difficult.
  17. The number of lugs isnt limiting your power potential, I'd worry more about what the rearend itself can take. If your car has an R200, its pretty stout. Not sure what kind of abuse they can take before they fail, but they've stood up to many a built SBC.
  18. You have got me thinking that wrapping the header around the front of the engine would allow you to fit a turbo right nice where the Evap container is.
  19. Pretty sure he's just showing an idea, seems pretty serious about the 2JZ swap. I would think it would be better to use an electric fan and route the header around the front of the valve cover if you wanted to put it on that side.
  20. Its not 50/50 to begin with. Being that it says its only 295 lbs (way less than an L6, and much shorter, I imagine it would make an S30 feel like a rear-engined Porsche.
  21. I remember when I first got into Zs, reading numerous times about how easy the L6 was to maintain and work on. The second thing I did on mine (first was valve cover gasket) was the manifold gasket. I remember thinking someone had to be out of their mind to call that an easy job. When mine goes all back together again, I will be running the factory '75 N42 intake and a turbo. I doubt highly I'll use the heat shield. If I do, I will most certainly take off a good bit of material on the inboard side.
  22. One of the big reasons for running the non-webbed manifold was mentioned by hughdogz, MUCH easier access to the exhaust nuts/bolts with the engine in car. Hell, getting the factory heat shields off my '75 was not near easy or fun, and I wound up with a few scars. I found when taking apart my '83 donor that the factory turbo setup is worse.
  23. I know that for the US market, all factory small bumper cars had the indentions, and all factory big bumper cars did not. I would assume since all first gen Zs from the Japanese market had small bumpers, they all had the indents. Could be a mistaken assumption, though.
  24. I thought that was the K20A?
  25. The vent behind the window? Its for air circulation, although there has been talk of some people having difficulty closing their doors when the vents gone, I have a hard time believing the cabin is that airtight.
