  1. Everytime someone brings up a 4banger swap, they mention less weight in the front, but everytime I've seen someone post their weight and distribution with an NA L6, its been 51/49. Dont let me discourage you, though, I really dont know squat about suspensions or whatnot. Never heard of an F20C, what manufacturer and year range is it?
  2. You have one of the nicest S30s, with the wheels/stance/color, it just looks right.
  3. Engine bay of my '75 right before purchase - Most recent picture - Looks real similar to that now, except it has a turbo manifold/t3 on it, and no intake. I monkeyed with the turbo intake I had laying around and decided to sandblast my N42, paint it black, and polish the stock linkage. Car is getting Z31 ECU/MAF/TB. Also getting member Evildky's (I believe) old fuel rail and stock turbo injectors.
  4. Yes, you can paint over old paint, after you scuff it.
  5. 1800 bucks for a 75 280Z (auto) 600 bucks for all new brakes, 400 bucks for two 280zx parts cars, one 83 Turbo auto with 72k miles, one 81 5speed. Still doing the Turbo swap on my original N42 motor. Also doing the Z31 ECU swap at the same time. Got an 87T ECU for 55 bucks off ebay, and a free MAF from my dad, who has multiple Z31 parts cars. Thank goodness I havnt spent all of that. The brakes and half the car were paid for by my dad. I, personally, have 1350 in my car, and its an S30 turbo, not bad I think.
  6. I agree, its pretty easy to find an S30 rusty parts car with a decent roof, I've got 2 myself.
  7. The lens on the original style actually goes over the bucket like the trim ring, doesnt it? Not flush like the new style? Dat240ZG, maybe you could attach them with double sided tape? I've wondered what the old covers would look like with a Type 3 front for awhile, and yours is a stunning execution anyway. Your car is an absolute inspiration.
  8. In one of the Mustang mags I bought probably a year ago, there was a 94/95 Stang with a Boss 302 block bored to 306. It was fully streetable and dyno'ed at 1000 or so flywheel horse, it was boosted to heaven, though.
  9. If I recall correctly, the 77-78 harnesses are identical and slightly different from the 76. Which harness are you needing exactly? I have the one that plugs into the ECU and goes into the engine bay, but its from a 75, which should work.
  10. The D16 I did had two extra lobes/rockers per cylinder like Kenny suggested, I'm pretty sure.
  11. Its a victim of its own success, you could say. However, the more popular the S30 gets, the cheaper and more abundant go-fast goodies for it become.
  12. It's not exactly a new concept anymore. I've rebuilt a 1.6L Honda SOHC with 4 valves per cylinder.
  13. Barbed injectors are the stock style, they connect to the fuel rail via hose w/clamps. O-rings use, well, o-rings, obviously, and are the more common type for large injectors.
  14. Anybody said Charlie Daniels - Stroker Ace? I think that was the name of the song.
  15. I cant imagine putting 500 horsepower in a car like that without my life flashing before my eyes. However, if it were me, I'd go VG30ET, dirt cheap, and can make plenty of dirt cheap power.
  16. Depends on your plans for the car. If your power goals arnt too crazy, I'd just patch the rail and forget about the baddog rails. Judging from your username, it sounds like you want to go with a boosted V8, if so, might as well replace with baddog rails on both sides.
  17. If you think that tray looks bad, you dont HAVE a rust situation on your Z. Thats nothing more than some surface rust. The best tray I've seen in person was the one on the 260Z parts car I got this weekend, and it had a baseball sized hole in it.
  18. Haha, even that battery tray isnt bad rust, I wish mine was half that nice. Mine is just a big hole, I can stick my head through it. Mint Z you got there, good luck with it.
  19. I think you're looking at Z18 instead of Z28
  20. Well, I dont know if I'm going to use them or sell them yet, I'll have to see what they look like all prettied up and on the car. It's either these, ZX 6 points, or my Turbo Swastika wheels. I think with the center portion painted black, these would be real nice looking, plus they're wider than my other choices.
  21. This is a weird way to ask, I know, but can anyone identify the wheel labeled Z28 in this Ebay ad? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-260Z-280ZX-510-620-roadster-CUSTOM-T-SHIRT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6032QQihZ014QQitemZ330185995359QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW I picked up a set of these with an almost completely rustfree 260 with no power/drivetrain. They are 14x7 I beleive. I would check for identifying casting marks but I'm not picking the car up till next weekend.
  22. The vents on the fenders of Superbirds were there solely for tire clearance. My guess is the modern race/sports cars with vents on top of the fender is both for cooling brakes and getting rid of the high air pressure area that is the wheelwell.
  23. From what I can tell, that IS a Zcar, it has sidemarker lights, so if it was a Corvette, it couldnt be a split window, it would be a C3 or later.
  24. I dont think he meant using the Vette window, but instead splitting the rear window of the Z itself.
