  3. yep.... that means GM dumped some bucks in the movie.... sell outs! Could of at least been a NEW beetle or a mini cooper
  4. Hugger orange looks good on a Z but ya might get "keyed" these days with the rebel flag on the roof...LOL
  5. Naviathan are you by chance one of the Eastern NC groups who has switched from Cox Cable to Suddenlink. I've been getting all kinds of weird stuff on several different sights today...Like they are swapping to back up servers or mirrors or something...
  6. SWEET I think I can grab a set of those locally. Theres a guy here that has a buttload of Mopars...
  7. man, I used to love Ebay... always some idiots wanting to ruin a good thing... It's getting ridiculous
  8. For that kind of cash I think I would buy a quality 383 kit and build it locally. Sounds like he may have some bad machine work. If you end up with a bad bore you'll end up having to start from scratch anyway and the parts aren't worth that kind of money...even with the heads and carb because you cant be sure of anything you cant hear run.. Just my opinion..
  9. Yeah but you've already found the BEST ONE!!!
  10. I cut the roof of of an SUV or stationwagon with the little reinforcement beads for carrying luggage and use that metal. I've done alot of early mustang floors and trunks with this stuff and it works well. Older models say 80's and back of course are thickest metal. but I've used Explorer roofs too. I've also cut sections from fenders of other cars to recreate curls and bends to fab fill panels, 1/4 panel patches, tail panels and rollpans. You can get an idea of what you need as far as bend and length by cutting templates with cardboard and then just walk around the "pick it" yard or scrap metal place and look for similar rolls/curves in various fender tops, rooflines and such.
  11. Guys there is one on Ebay right now with 3 days left on the bid if you're interested. I saw it while searching z stuff http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/240Z-280Z-Datsun-Rear-Spindle-Pin-Strut-Pin-Puller_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ42609QQihZ002QQitemZ120065992960QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW I dont know the seller and have nothing to do with this listing just FYI if anyone wants to buy one.....
  12. Start soaking them now with some PB Blaster, longer the better, much better stuff than wd40 and any aforementioned method is good...
  13. If I can find a deal I'd love to go to a 3.90 or 4.11 in my 260z All the Dragstrips close to home here are 1/8 mile...
  14. I love a nice FLAMEWRENCH... What ya gonna do with that rear diff assembly
  15. 280zone.......Good old southwest air... I wish I had access to all that fine, cheap sheetmetal in AZ.. I'd have so many rat rods you couldnt park em in an airport.. But I'm sure it isnt as nice as it was 20yrs ago when you could pick up a nice 3 window coupe shell for $200 bucks.. and they would give you Caddy 69-70 500ci's just to haul em off...
  16. Oh yeah! If your gonne go live axle 9" ford is the way to go. Even with junkyard parts your gonna be able to do more than an 8.8 stock and the aftermarket and used market. on 9' is infinite... well worth the additional weight and since it is rear unsprung weight it helps traction. Originally you were talking 450 hp but if you go twin turbos and No2 you'll be well over 600hp and solid with a 9'er... I would opt for a well built powerglide tranny as well. One gearchange and real consistant if you can gear it to keep the turbos spooled...
  17. Compression sounds great. if the oil is building up enough around the valves and the valve seals are shot I would suspect the valve guides are also worn. If this either or both is the case the oil puddling is flowing past the seals into the cylinders. You wont register a compression loss and in fact will get a higher reading because the oil helps create a seal around the rings when testing. ( called a "wet" test..) That reading sounds high. I would expect more in the 120psi range. It "might" be oil rings sticking to the pistons instead of floating. You can pull the plugs and fill the cylinder with a mix of marvel Mystery oil and carb cleaner 50/50 mix and let it soak a day or 2 with the plugs in to slow evaporation. It will smoke like crazy on startup but will clear in a few minutes. This may loosen the oil rings so they can slide properly and stop oil from getting piled up and past the compression rings also. An engine that has had a poor service record will often stick the rings and the hydraulic lifters. We used to do this at the car lot often with some of the cheapies....Dont add any type of cleaner to the oilpan because if there is a lot of builup it will work loose and clog the oilpump screen.. But adding the mix to the cylinders is ok. Change oil to 20w50 add a 6 cyl can of Restore and a step hotter plug, and stay away from synthetics as they tend to leak easier when any kind of seal is questionable. Then just drive the SNOT out of it!!!! Keep a lookout on ebay. I see these motors from time to time cheap and i think you can sneek a prism/corolla motor in them also. if you can find an old VW they make a great beater.. use a fuel inj GTI converted to carb ( IF RULES REQUIRE) and the diesel tranny... ZOOM !!
  18. Isnt the truck block the "tall deck" block? Not many goodies for those are there??
  19. LMAO!! Nav... uh NO! I do not, besides, I dont have a sister.. But apparently I hit most of the marks! Geesh......I do have some rather hot 2nd cousins though... um...nevermind...........
  20. It's "Paypal or nuthin" for me on Ebay!! I have enough trouble with legit buyers and sellers..LOL
  21. Just an afterthought. Make sure you've got a good upgrade on your ignition system. You'll need a hotter than stock spark to maximize all of that volume in the cylinder..
  22. You are Gaius Caesar Germanicus - better known as Caligula! yikes!
  23. I have a welder type socket wired into my breaker box for just this application since I live in Hurricane country. I use a 10k and power the fridge, TV,dvd, lights, and fans with no problems. Just dont try to use hot water heater, centeral ac or stove. I bought a small one room AC and use it but turn other stuff off. When you cut the main breaker to the house you are disconnected from the main feed so you don't bleed off power and cant hurt anyone else.. cut off all unused breakers so no one forgets and turns on something they shouldnt. Be sure to disonnect everything before you flip back to line service when power returns.
