  1. Its spring in Oregon. That means it only rains 5 days a week. All this sunlight must be frying my brain, and I am thinking about a new car. A couple of days ago I saw a new Chrysler Crossfire, and I thought it looked pretty neat. The adverts say it is capable of 150mph, and that just makes it look even better. So what do you guys think? My last Mopar was a '67 Charger with a street Hemi. I really loved it and the cross fire might be just what I need for my next Mopar. Joe
  2. I built one at home a couple years ago, from 6" chanel iron I already had a 20 ton bottle jack. Total cost was less than $30. The only thing Grumpy didn't mention was how much how you use it than you think you would.
  3. The water will never drain through that hole.
  4. Don't they use radar absorbing paint on the F-117?
  5. Phantom, What makes you think there are any other kind of dealerships? When I was building my engine, I went to the local Chevy dealer to check on some parts and instead of looking up the numbers I gave them they told me I should buy a catalogue.
  6. I know what you mean. I cringe every time that I buy a nut or bolt. I was just going to dump a used small block in my ZX, but that was early last year and the car is still up on jackstands. I manage to do most of the fabrication myself, but I am still afraid to sit down and add up the cost. All I can say is just keep plugging away and if you have to drive it in primer, just do it 'til you can do better. Your past sure made me feel better, I hope it hel-p0s you to know that there are others in the same boat. Joe
  7. .Actually as for as me I agree with Mike. But it seems strange how age destroys memory.or was I the only one who took a ration of crap because his car was mostly engine and partly bailing wire? I think not! Any how, putting the young guys down builds charictor. (I've worked real hard to get old enough to be an uptight old fart. and I'm gonna enjoy it) One other thing, I really loved the early big block, tri power GTOs They made a lot of the payments on my Hemi Charger
  8. So save me a seat by the fire.
  9. Did anyone see the program on the Shockwave Peterbilt yeaterday on the History chanel? Three jet engines, over 300 miles an hour. Now that's truckin'!
  10. Z-31 1/2 tank of fuel spre stone stock before swap 2970 lb
  11. Have you given any thought about using a railroad flatcar? I have seen bunches of them used for bridges on local ranches, and they seem hell for strength, althoutgh the length is a problem I guess.
  12. Nic, Congratulations. Its really scary to think you are going to be an unwilling "Agent of Darwin", and I'm glad you managed to avoid hitting the idiots. ( all that paperwork is a PITA )On the subject of bicycles, it isn't just kids. did you ever notice that here there are bike lanes the riders always seem to ride as close to the line as they can? I always worry about one of them getting sucked under my trailer. (50lb Bike vs 80,000lb Semi... winner, Semi) joe
  13. After searching, I couldn't find anything so if any one has can help I will be really grateful. I have an Auto Meter Pro CompII Memory tach that came with my Magneto, and I need to know where all the wires coming out the back go. There is a small red wire and a white wire that have been conected to a single lead. I think it goes to the Mag. There is a yellow wire that I have no idea about. A small black wire that I am guessing is a ground. Here is the list of wires again: 1. Red and White wire (connected together) 2. Yellow wire 3. Black wire Thjanks, joe
  14. My daughter in Seattle has wanted a Nash Metropoliton forever. I have been thinking of bu;ilding one for her when I finish my ZX. I figured that the Turbo four would be just the thing for her coupled to a nice C-4. I've seen Metropolitons on the net with v-8's, and Turbo coupes are a dime a dozen. The Ford Mazda sounds cool, but dirt cheap iron engine sounds even better.
  15. I used a laser level to align the drivetrain in my x31. First I had an empty 350th case that I used to get all the clearances under the car. I bought a cheap laser level from harbor frieght, and bolted it to a right angle bracket. Then I bolted the bracket to one of the bolts that would normally hold the tailshaft housing on the tranny so the level was centered where the shaft would be. I used the level instead of a pointer because it has a lens that shoots a straight line, and can be turned from horizontal to vertical. I figured that when both lines went through the center of the diff pinion shaft the driveline was straight. I like your design it is a lot simpler than what I did. Not to mention that it doesn't need an empty trany case.
  16. In 1967 I bought a new Dodge Charger with a street Hemi. Only car I ever had that would lift the front wheels on the street. I got to ride in a friends 930 Ruf turbo. It was till accelerating at 300kph. (180 mph?) Hot lapped in an Offy powered Curtis Craft midget. My business partner who owned it said it was making about 380 hp and weighed something like 800 lbs. When he let me drive it, he said it would scare me before I could hurt it. Boy, was he right! Drag raced a blown Harley sportster in the '70s. Best time was 6.87 in the eighth. The next week it got away from me and comited suicide. There wasn't a part left that you couldn't pick up in your hands. Other than being unconsious for about ten minutes I survived with only a bunch of cracked ribs.
  17. I agree, I can live without a lot of profanity here, although in the real world I curse way too much. Sometimes though, you just gotta call em like you see em. What is offensive is often be in the eye (ear?) of the beholder Like George Carlin said "You can prick you finger, just don't ....
  18. I wonder how much hp gain could be attained by duct taping a starbucks cup to the end of your exhaust pipe. Also, would you get more hp ir the cup was d ouble expresso insteae of latte?
  19. A lady bought a new Lexus. Cost a bundle. Two days later, she brought it back, complaining that the radio was not working. "Madam," said the sales manager, "the audio system in this car is completely automatic. All you need to do is tell it what you want to listen to, and you will hear exactly that!" She drove out, somewhat amazed and a little confused. She looked at the radio and said, "Nelson." The radio responded, "Ricky or Willie?" She was astounded. If she wanted Beethoven, that's what she got. If she wanted Nat King Cole, she got it. She was stopped at a traffic light enjoying "On The Road Again" when the light turned green and she pulled out. Suddenly an enormous sports utility vehicle coming from the street she was crossing sped toward her, obviously not paying attention to the light. She swerved and narrowly missed a collision. "Idiot!" she yelled and, from the radio, "Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States."
  20. Metro, That's the one. where are you at? I'm in Eagle Point. The owner says that he will have it back at the show next year. joe
  21. My wife an I went to local rod and custom show. Outside the building was a D-type Jag. Owner said there were only 75 in existance. i offered to buy it but the guy wouldn't take a personal check on the Bank Of Bagdad The owner also said he has an Allard. Must be nice to be rich.
  22. What a drag to have your house broken into! I agree get a large dog. Dogs really can change a crooks mind. Up until about a year ago we had a really big (98lb) American Pit bull. No one came in uninvited when we were home, and if we weren't home anyone could get int the house, but once inside, they couldn't get out until we got home. We had him for 14 years, then the ungratful mutt up and died of old age. the bad news is that when he passed, it was almost like loosing a kid.
  23. I doubt that there any kits but it shouldn''t be too hard to do. They are a relativly narrow engine, and wi;th a little work can make a lot of power. I love nailhead buicks.
