Ozoner, I have been thinking of installing that set on my Z. Is that set you are using the older one they used to make or the new ones they are making now for $100?

Compression measurements are supposed to be taken with the throttle plate open. Having it closed should still yield similar results but will take more cranking time to get there.
Edit: Oh, about the over-revving i'm not too sure. Maybe someone else can chime in on that one.

Maybe those pics are from when he dropped the motor in.
But seriously, my opinion is that times change and people along with it. Some of us see Scottie making this big change and feel that he is making a big mistake. I myself believe that I will never get sell my Z but you never know. The guy I bought it from had it for 15 years and had told his mother that he was never selling it. I have the car now...he has a boat. LOL Each one of us knows what is best for ourselves. So do what you have to do.

I am new to TIG welding, well welding in general, and that is the same thing I have read and heard. I have seen the sugaring effect myself on my SS practice pieces but have set up my argon gas cylinder so I can back purge real work pieces.

My first Z was a gray 1979 280ZX and I put the same Rota rims you had on it. I thought you got a pic of my first Z when I saw the pic on your site. LOL

From what I know about MIG welding you don't need inert gas when you use flux cored wire but inert gas is required when solid wire (w/no flux) is used.
Inert gas is always needed when you TIG weld.
The most commonly used inert gas is Argon or a mix of Argon with other gases.

It's hard to even look when custom work gets damaged like that. I feel for you man. I know how much it sucks when you put part of your soul into something and it gets f-ed. Hope you have an easy time with the insurance company.

Here are the images that Cyrus sent to me today but picturetrail won't let me upload vids. Can someone host the vid for Cyrus? The downpipe looks awesome.

Easy Mikey...Hold on to your horses.
Here are the pics that Cyrus sent. All I can say is...Perfect fit, looks awesome. I am sold on the 2JZGTE and will hopefully be getting one soon.

OUT with the old.
IN with the new.
Is there a way of getting more of these light assemblies? How much do they cost? I do agree that the air dam point up, a little, and looks kinda odd.

I had a few good discussions with the members that showed up and also had a chance to burn a hole in John's welding table. Very informative get-together. Thanks for everything.
