  1. Very nice! A beautiful and well done car.
  2. Sweet car!!!!! I love it. I wish we had a JCR car for the wind tunnel. I would like to see how the vented fenders worked. I suspect they would have done very well.
  3. Great vids and a good job driving! What tires do you run?
  4. Appleslicer- First you must understand that Mark and I are old friends. We both are subject to over engineered solutions just because we think it's cool. This leads to ongoing jokes about stuff like "I checked the oil and it was a little low so I went ahead and overhauled the engine, used a new callies crank and had the heads max ported. Maybe the oil will be ok now". A lot of people on HybridZ call it "while I'm at it" disease. Generally trans alignment isn't a problem with T56's and LS engines, I wouldn't even worry about it. It's difficult to check with the T56 bellhousing arrangement, but I've never known of anyone having trouble. I used to run a TKO in my car, and they are much more sensitive to alignment than 56's. I posted a write up about centering the bellhousing several years ago if you want to hunt it up. Sorry to cause you to have second thoughts. If the trans went together smoothly and the clutch works OK, I wouldn't worry about it. Most likely you just got a worn out trans, Been there/done that too. John
  5. When you built that engine, how close did the rear surface of the block check to being perpendicular to the crank C/L? It should be less than 0.002" max. You should also indicate the bellhousing to be sure the radial runout is less than 0.001". Any more than that and you'll have shifting issues for sure. Very imp on a T56.
  6. Probably need to overhaul the trans while you've got it out. 3rd gear syncro is always suspect.
  7. Jeromio, I'm glad to see you're doing well. I've been a fan of your car since way back. Sad to see you selling it, but I'm sure you will see that it winds up in good hands. Best to ya' John
  8. Sad news indeed. Prayers for all his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
  9. Check to see if the throttle blades are fully closed. If so, check for any vacuum leaks.
  10. That's a very nice car. Not many still in that shape. I hope you go back with the 903. I used to own a 71 that was 903 and it's one of my favorite Z colors. jt
  11. I've used a 7.25" Tilton triple quite a bit, in a mostly track/barely streetable car. It's great for track, holds 600 crank hp with no problem, but it's very quick and hard to modulate for a smooth takeoff. Playing with master cyl diameter helped some, but it's still easy to spin the tires, kill the motor, or jerk away from a start like you're in the wrong gear.
  12. Indeed. Your notching, bending, and fitting is top shelf.
  13. Seymour "Cast Blast" is one of my favorites.
  14. Change the plug, the insulator is bad. Usually you can see some darkness on the insulator.
  15. Do some research on member "Mayolives" car. Turbo L28ET, making 450 at the wheels, and he ran it for 5 or 6 years doing 7 or 8 OT events a year, with no issues. It was a well done build, and it served it's purpose very well.
  16. Note that the brake setup can affect backspacing. If you go with a hat setup, the thickness of the hats changes backspacing. You can also get some caliper/wheel clearance issues. jt
  17. They are pretty tough. Mine has stood 420 whp thru many track days and time trials. I don't worry about it at all. jt
  18. Who is this guy??? Isn't there a hurricane?????
  19. Sounds like a interesting car. Pics would be great. I think I would talk to whoever you're going to get to do the safety inspection, and find out what they have to see.
  20. Maybe something to do with the belt on the front of the motor- fan, water pump, alternator. Timing chain Throwout brg or pilot brg Dry u joint. Hard to say, but those are some possibilities. jt
  21. I'm not sure we are.. What I'm calling the suction side is the section that pulls oil from the motor and sends it to the tank. The section that pulls oil from the tank and sends it to the motor is the pressure side. But it may be a nomenclature thing. Let us know what you find out, I'm interested. This is the first setup I've seen with four head drains. Is the valve area open to the valley or is it blocked off somehow?
  22. Mike, the head drains need to be plumbed to the suction side of the pump.
  23. If they're not bent up, that's a killer deal on the wheels in Modesto. Looks like they are the ultralight version.
