  1. The Hurst Edition TA's didn't have the puking chicken decals. It would surprise me a little if he gets 25, but I reckon it's possible. 129 for the Burt Reynolds is nuts. jt
  2. It's amazing how a project can stretch out. Work, life responsibilities, and the next thing you know it's rusty. Scope creep is my problem. I've had an oil change turn into a complete freshening......and I'm a good bit closer to social security than Jon is..... John
  3. Happy Birthday Pete! A present for you: John
  4. It will be interesting to see how long this lasts. I predict a couple of more days on track, and we'll see the rear hung out with smoke off the tires again. jt
  5. You're going to run a 285 on a 8.5" rim? jt

  7. Backspace is measured from the outer lip of the wheel, not the inner lip where the tire bead sits. jt
  8. Cool vid!! The car sounds great. John
  9. That is really cool. I've wondered what it looked like making a mold. What style flare and fender are they? John
  10. It sounds like the battery is bad to me. A bad cable could also be a possibility. jt
  11. Nice can. Is the AR a pistol, or class 3? John
  12. It was a great day for sure. A beautiful South Carolina early spring day, cool in the moring but warming up nicely with a light breeze. Tom shows up driving one of his fleet of cars, a very nice gunmetal turbo 280ZX that is a real sweetheart. I had my 73 240, a CMP veteran. The reason we were there was Mark bringing his 240Z track car for it's first shakedown run. I hadn't seen it in person, and was really looking forward to seeing it run. I was not disappointed!!!!!! Mark is going to debug the car before it's painted, so it's in primer, but all the details make it really special. A dry sump LS1, big flares with 12" CCW's, and gnose with a snowplow sized air dam/splitter that's easily removable are the first things you notice. Then there's the very unique cage and a custom Butler seat with an inflatable lumbar support. It's as comfortable as my recliner at home. Arizona Z suspension and big Wilwoods complete the package. Mark's usual attention to the details is everywhere, showing a lot of thought and hard work. She's gonna be rocket ship fast to go with the good looks, too. We were running together, and despite me running the white car as hard as she would go, Mark stayed stuck right to my bumper, apparently cruising easily at half throttle. I can't wait to see him turn it loose! John
  13. There are three popular options- Hooker, MSA, and JTR. Yours looks like the Hooker to me. Hooker is the most forward, MSA in the middle, and JTR most to the rear. jt
  14. Here's an example: This is the Moroso piece. Another good idea is to drilll a 1/8" hole in the flange of the thermostat so air will bleed thru when the thermostat is closed. That helps eliminate a trapped bubble when you're filling the system. jt
  15. Definitely worth it in my opinion. There's no doubt #3 is leaner than the rest and will detonate first. I bet that injector is weak in some regard. You could switch injector positions and run it a while and compare the plugs to see if the lean plug follows the injector, but you shouldn't get any more aggressive with the tune. jt
  16. Bad valve seals won't cause the "smoke" out the VC breather you described. They might cause the cruddy plugs, deceleration smoke, and some oil consumption. A 5000 mile motor shouldn't have valve seal problems if the heads were rebuilt. Make sure your pcv is working, try the seafoam, and change to a high detergent oil like Shell Rotella, then run it a while. I bet it gets better. jt
  17. I don't respond to any of the bad grammar/text style posts. If they can't present a question any better that that, why should I waste time trying to help them? However, it makes the site look idiotic & ricer-ish, which is a very bad thing. Ban them!!!!! jt
  18. I used to own one. It was a very, very nice car. Search for "vintage Z" and you should turn up plenty of info. John
