  1. I love San Antonio. Great town, nice weather, incredible architecture, super cheap cost of living, friendly locals. I go running all over downtown with my camera every time I go down there. Art deco structures everywhere. Kicking the hornets' nest, Tony? Fer shame!
  2. *sound of grinding teeth* Oh, man...I suppose one should be happy to have a wife that shares the car hobby, but that's a whole other dilemma that comes along with it; battling over parts.
  3. Goldwave is limited-use(pretty extensive use, really) freeware. Saves in a multitude of formats and will record from any input. I've been using it at work to generate MP3s that I embed in pages on a children's games site we run.
  4. Never, ever, EVER bid using the internal interface in eBay. Why tell the entire world you're after something and give them a chance to outbid you? Figure out what the maximum amount is that you want to pay for an item, enter it into a sniping service such as Esnipe, set the buffer time to one second, and win every time, or never pay more than you want to. Bidding wars are for the computer illiterate.
  5. Did some further fiddling this weekend, managed to get a momentary-on toggle switch for under the guard, and moved the whole thing to the blank-out plate between the Choke and Defogger lights. Much easier operation now, I don't have to be careful about letting the starter engage for longer than it should and tear up the flywheel as a result. Multiple tries at cranking (if it doesn't catch at first) are easier since I don't have to flip the guard closed after every attempt. The blank-out plate it was previously installed on was actually a loose fit in the hole, and I'd have to hold it down every time I flipped up the guard. Not fun. The hole I used was already there when I bought the car, so I didn't feel so bad about making another if it meant I'd get everything working the way I wanted. I'll get a photo tonight. Part of me wants to rip out the whole dash and rig everything back up with chrome toggles and color coded guards on an aircraft-style panel.
  6. Ahhh, percussive maintenance! Gotta love it.
  7. Why is the rum always gone? *stands up, weaves drunkenly* Oh, that's why...
  8. Sick minds think alike! I'll usually sleep-deprive myself before a long trip and bring some sleep aids as well. Once we're in the air, I'm out until it's time to land. I managed a week long trip to UAE and a bunch of other places that way and stayed in pretty good shape.
  9. "What's more chicken@#!% than $*&%ing with a man's automobile? I mean, don't $*&% with another man's vehicle." - Vincent Vega, Pulp Fiction I was driving through my neighborhood about a week ago when I heard what sounded like a bullet hitting the bodywork of my car. *TUNK* I got the hell out of there. When I got far enough away, I pulled into a parking lot and had a good look at the passenger side of the car. I couldn't find anything until I looked at the chrome trim along the bottom of the passenger window, and there was a nice big dent with what looked like a little pulverized rock and dirt in it. Nobody had been on the street or lawns out in front of the apartment complex I was passing, but there people on balconies as I passed by. I'm willing to bet that someone was trying out their new wrist rocket. 1/2" higher and they would have taken out my window and possibly even hit me. MJ, be thankful all they got was the glass. Would have been worth them doing it if you caught 'em in the act, though. Those who arbitrarily damage others' property are the worst sort of coward.
  10. Wow, does that thing corner flat...and what a sound! Completely out of place in that chassis. I love it!
  11. I'm not on the team, I just stumbled across this while looking for stuff. Lemons is a blast, if you want to race and don't have the money for it, this is a foot in the door! Team looking for help with their Z.
  12. Sounds like a sign from the heavens! Got her number? Call her tomorrow night.
  13. Scrolling through the comments: "!@#%$in' automatic door locks ruined my love life."
  14. YEOW...I need skin grafts just after looking at that. Here, there and everywhere. The Boys(aha! that's the correct spelling...) was borrowed, sadly. But the clothing, furniture and various other accumulating junk mostly comes from eBay, thrift store finds, Craigslist and a friend who is a vintage clothing dealer...some people have drug dealers, I've got a guy that pushes suits.
  15. Not a plane, looks like a CH-53. Nice field expedient hydration system there. I've got a shot wandering around on my HD at home of me with a Boyes ATR.
  16. Geez, I'm an idiot. It's been there since I got back from UAE in July. That hadn't even occurred to me.
  17. Here's a shot of it...I'm thinking of moving it to the middle blank out plate between the choke and defogger lights. (Yes, I know my interior is filthy, it's not a priority...)
  18. Alex, where did you get the duck tail? That's about perfect for my needs.
  19. I've got a 30 amp inline fuse in the switch circuit at the moment. Seems to work without issues. The switch itself is rated at 30 amps. I'll grab a new relay and try it out.
  20. I suppose I didn't make it clear that I wasn't using the factory stock starter relay(which I could no longer hear clicking away somewhere down by the passenger footwell...when I stopped hearing it, I knew I was screwed), but a unit under the hood mounted near the passenger frame rail that someone added on before I got the car, and was working to crank the car before my swap. I tried using it with my added switch to no avail, only direct wiring the switch seems to work. I'm betting a new relay would fix the problem, which leads me to ask, what amperage relay should I use?
  21. That's the U.S.S. Stewart. It's a destroyer escort, actually, one of only 3 left in existence. Battleships are much, much larger. And yes, she was beached level on dry ground with landfill up close to the waterline, the tides during the storm washed out the landfill around her. Thankfully, the Cavalla next to her was shielded by the slip that she's in, also filled in with landfill. Both vessels have been poorly cared for over the years and are struggling as museums. They need all the help they can get.
  22. Oh, man...redheads are trouble, friend. Took me three times to finally understand that and start chasing after brunettes. Run while you still have legs to do so!
